Chapter 255 - Half-day relationship

Although Devin was listening to the woman's rattlings, not a word made a hole in his brain. Like a wife caught by the cheated husband red-handed, Devin was heebie-jeebies imagining the worst consequences. He has forgotten to confess one crucial matter to Leena. No, he deliberately ignored it since he knew Leena would make fun of him instead of getting angry. If Valen brings the topic of a half-day girlfriend, he will be dead meat in Leena's hands today. The only thought that came into his mind was running away. ''Umm..Valen,'' He started. ''I have urgent work. Can we meet next time?''

''Can't you postpone for a little while? Let's go for lunch. I feel like it's been ages since we met.''

''I have a business meeting to_

''Running away without introducing your friend to me?'' Devin's words got stuck in the mouth when the familiar voice from behind sounded in his ears. Chills ran down his spine as if was thrown into the cold waters of Antarctica. Swallowing hard, he turned around to meet Leena's wooden eyes.

Valen's eyes also snapped at the woman right away, and she was awed. Leena's beyond beauty has taken her breath away. What shocked her more was that the Robot Devin showing emotions which she had never witnessed before.

''When did you come back, sweetheart?'' Devin asked, his mouth went dry, watching Leena's murderous gaze.

"Why? Did I spoil your happy time?'' Leena asked with a mocking tone. She was keeping an eye on Devin, albeit she was playing with the kids. It's not that she suspects him, but her husband is too handsome to everyone's liking that even kids are eying him. When she saw a woman approaching him, her eyes immediately went high alert. As usual, Leena thought it was another woman fallen for her husband's charms, but the woman seems to know Devin with the confidence she posed while speaking to him.

''You know it's not true.'' Devin pulled Leena by her waist and gazed into her eyes attentively to see if she meant. True, he could sense envy spiting from every inch of her bones. A smile spread across his face to see her jealousy.

''Hello, Hello, Hello, did you forget that a person is standing here?'' Valen interrupted.

Both retreated at once and turned around. Leena scanned the woman and giggled internally. 'Her face looks like a duck' Truth be told, Valen was beautiful, but she didnot even get a score of average beauty in Leena's eyes. Leena's jealousy sprawled for no reason, and she possessively linked her arms with Devin's.

''It must be your girlfriend, right, Devin?'' Valen asked, excited. The way Devin was looking at her with love, Valen knew it.

''My wife, her name is Leena.'' Devin's eyes lovingly gazed at Leena.

''What the! Are you married?'' Valen bellowed in shock. Lately, she has been busy with the work to check on gossips around media. Had she followed them, she would have got an air of his dating status. After all, Devin is a public figure.

''Yes.'' His gaze shifted to Leena to clear her mind from questions first. ''She is Valen. We studied at the same University. She is a very good friend_''

''What do you mean by a friend. I am your ex-girlfriend also.'' Valen snapped at Devin.

''What!'' Leena's heartbeat drummed in her ears, hearing her words. Devin had a girlfriend in the past? But he said I was his first love.

''Don't complicate things, Valen! Your words might mislead my wife.'' Devin squeezed Leena's arm to assure her before she imagines things. ''Don't mind her words, sweetheart. She is joking. As I said, I haven't dated anyone.''

''How am I misleading your wife? It's the Truth that I was your girlfriend, and we were in a relationship once.'' With a mischievous glint, she looked at Leena. All she could smell was jealousy from the corners. ''Half a day relationship is also considered as relationship right, Leena?''

''Half a day relationship?'' Leena stared at Devin, her eyes demanding an explanation. Such an important matter, he blatantly avoided.

''It's not what you think, Leena.'' Devin's anxiety eclipsed his thoughts. He cursed Valen internally for deliberately bringing the topic. She is definitely taking revenge for what happened in the past. ''Leena, I_we_''

''The great Wang Devin is stuttering now? I will take the opportunity to explain to your wife then.'' Not even in her dreams, Valen imagined Devin would turn into a henpecked husband. She has dated and dumped countless men, and at last, Karma has given her a fair share in the name of Devin. One fine day, Valen played the Truth and dare game with her friends, and when she lost the game, she got a dare to kiss a man. That was not even a big task, for she was a pro in flirting, but her friends have chosen this Robot for the game. For a month, Valey has to go behind Devin. She has no idea what possessed this man, but he accepted her. Like a kid who got candy, she was overjoyed. When Valen was in to finish that stupid dare, this Robot pressed his lips at the crucial moment and ran away from that place. Never she felt such a humiliation. Her friends mocked at her. Now, it's time for her revenge. Suppressing her smile, Valen looked at Leena and spoke up. ''Breaking up within half-day, your husband has broken the record. Trust me, it's not the funniest part. He ran away when I tried to kiss him.''

Leena's mouth wide opened, listening to Valen's words. She should be angry at Devin for concealing such a big secret, but imagining Devin running away, Leena couldn't help, but burst into laughter.

''It's not funny, Leena.'' The more Devin tried to speak in a serious tone, the more Leena made fun of him.

''Did I miss the chance to witness that scene?'' Leena was grinning like a Chesire cat.

''That was one hell of a scene to witness,'' Valen added.

''Did he do any other mischievous things?'' Leena was curious to know more about his life. If she asks Wilbur, he will talk about the same old story. The number of beers Devin chugs without stopping.

''I haven't done any mischievous thing, and it's time to leave, Leena.'' Devin interrupted. ''Didn't you want to go for a_''

''We can go tomorrow also.'' She suspended his thoughts and looked at Valen to proceed.

''Why don't we go to my house? I am staying with my grandparents here. She is one hell of a cook. You get the chance to eat the best countryside food while I tell the stories of your husband.'' Valen suggested.

''That's amazing.' I love the idea." Not before Devin voiced his thoughts, Leena accepted the offer.

''Let's go, Devin. Please.''' Leena pleaded, looking at him with her puppy eyes.

''Killer you are, Leena.'' He gave a frustrated sigh and reluctantly agreed.

Giving a deathly stare to Valen for one last time, Devin stepped into the car. He dropped Leena at Valen's house and left to the home. Leena will not let him listen to their conversation. At least, he can do productive work by studying the information that Nick has sent.

Meanwhile, Valen brought Leena to her room while her grandmother prepared lunch. After a long time, she got good company, and they talked about a lot of stuff, especially Devin.

"My husband is a show stopper wherever he goes.'' Leena proudly boasted about him with a smile. ''By the way, can I ask you a question, Valen?''

''Ofcoruse.''

''By chance, did you like him?'' Leena asked hesitantly. If Valen had feelings for Devin, she would have acted like a white-lotus bitch at the Amus.e.m.e.nt park, which didnot happen. But, Leena wanted a confirmation to move on freely with her.

''I would rather die than have feelings for that Robot,'' Valen winked. ''Except for that dare, I wouldn't have dared to approach him. Honestly, I got pissed off, when he eluded the kiss and ran away, but his poetic words touched me."

''He must have been a poet in the past life.'' Leena giggled. ''What did he say?'' She asked curiously.

"I am not a poet like him, so bear with it." Valen continued. "His soul and body belong to only one girl, and he will not love or marry anyone except her. That's what he said. I thought he bluffed to escape from my clutches on that day, but I once saw him staring at a picture with so much love and adoration with the same way he was looking at you today.$

"I was close to take a peek, but Devin's movements were like a hawk, and he hid the picture. I was wondering who was that lucky girl, and my question got an answer today. The girl was you right, Leena? Obviously, it will be you with the love and devotion, Devin has for you." Like a fangirl, Valen giggled, clapping her hands.

Leena's color drained from her face. Adrenaline crashed through her as if her breathing stopped. The girl is not me. We don't share a past with each other. Leena wanted to scream, but her words tongue-tied.

When Valen did not get a response, she looked up to see Leena's face turned pale. "Hey, are you ok? What happened_"

''Umm...Nothing. I_I am hungry.'' Leena replied, keeping a smile.

''Ah! I forgot about it. Let's go down for lunch.''

Nodding her head, Leena went along with Valen. By the time the lunch was set, Devin had come back. To not worry him, Leena maintained a smile throughout the lunch. Once they reached home, Leena went straight away into the bed without talking a word.

"Leena, What's wrong?'' Devin climbed on the bed and massaged her forehead. He could feel she is worried about something. ''What's bothering you? Did. Valen talked about something_.''

"No. She is a nice girl. It's just that I have a headache.''

''I warned not to take showers in the evening.'' Gently Devin put Leena's head on his l.a.p and started massaging her entire forehead and scalp.

His fingers worked like magic, and it should have eased her tension, but it was only intensifying. Leena's thoughts were reflecting on Valen's words. It was clear that Devin has no memories. She could ask him, but he will get another panic attack if he tries to remember them. Leena wished he was a Robot so that she could hack into his brain to know about the girl he loved.

Who will answer my questions? What is this deadlock situation? What if his past love comes back? Will he go back to her if he regain his memory of her? Her heart pained to imagine Devin sharing his love with some other woman. Without knowing, a tear trickled down, followed by another, onto his l.a.p, and his hand halted.
