Chapter 524 - What Do I Get In Return

Rui deeply sighed and uttered, "I guess I have to ask someone for help this time. Maybe Ruth can help me with this matter and pretend to be my girlfriend in front of Candice so she will not disturb me."

Cali turned at Rui in disbelief.

"Seriously? Ruth?! Are you kidding me? That woman is too clingy! You're so scared of Candice but not her? Ruth is much more scary than Candice!" Cali chided. She could not believe Rui even considered that idea and did not even think of her once!

"I can't think of anyone else who will agree. Trust me… You have never witnessed Candice make her move on me yet, but once you happen to see it… Well you will say she's scarier than Ruth." Rui informed her because that was true. 

Candice used to tease him a lot when she was in Yang globals that left him breathless every time she played with him, and all that was when he had not met Cali yet.

"Fine! Tell Candice that I'm your fiance and I really don't mind helping you for flicking away that lady bug. Just as long as we will just pretend in front of her but not in the whole campus. 

I don't want a lie spreading in the entire school for those who know me so we can just pretend in front of Candice and tell her that it's a secret since we prefer our privacy at school."

'But I want the whole school to know particularly that Edward!' Rui irritably mused.

"But we can make it real, not just a lie…" Rui uttered, almost in a whisper.

"What?" Cali asked because she did not hear it properly. Rui was murmuring like a bee!

Rui heaved a long sigh and said, "Okay. Thank you for helping me out on this. I really appreciate it."

He would readily accept Cali's conditions since it was better than having nothing. Now his only problem remained was how he should convince Candice to help him in all this later, without getting killed!

After dinner, Rui was very restless thinking about some way to make Candice agree to his demands. He then called Xander and asked for Candice's number.

"Why is she here anyway?" He asked Xander at another line, out of curiosity.

"You know that woman… She's a busy bee with a lot of things to do all over the world. Be careful and don't irritate her…" Xander warned followed by a chuckle from the other line because he was aware Rui was so scared of Candice.

Rui dropped his shoulders and told Xander his dilemma.

"Hahahahaha. You're so doomed man!"

He almost became deaf with Xander's loud laughter on another line. His face darkened hearing the mocking of Xander.

"Seriously… To ask Candice for a favor is like waiting for your death sentence. But she owes you so maybe she will spare you this time. But make sure to talk to her in person because she hates dealing with anything on the phone. 

Do it now or else you'll dig your own grave tomorrow as soon as she found out what you put her into. I can't imagine how you told Cali that she used to follow you around, when in fact Candice was following me around at that time and you used to follow her because you were curious about her and just didn't trust her a single minute. 

I'm telling you, Candice will not like it if you put her on the spot man. It will backfire on you big time…" Xander pointed out, still laughing his heart out on Rui's sticky condition.

The call soon ended and Rui contacted Candice. He first checked if Cali was already asleep before he went out and met Candice at the place she gave.

"Hmm, I guess you need something from me for you not to wait until tomorrow and ask to meet now?" Candice commented as she playfully sucked on her spoon while eating ice cream.

"Ice cream at this hour?!" Rui looked at her in a surprised state and asked the waiter for a coffee for himself.

"Yeah, eating sweets is life for me. Let's get down to business before your dear wife wakes up and looks for you in the middle of the night." Candice mumbled.

Rui raised his eyebrows seeing how careless she behaved and explained everything to Candice. He wondered if the woman was even listening to him because she was too busy eating her ice cream while he narrated everything he said to Cali and how he wanted her cooperation in coaxing his wife.

After his narration, there was only silence for a long time... and finally Candice finished her ice cream in the cup and her attention diverted to him.

"Ahh, it's good and refreshing…" she commented, licking her lips.

Rui shook his head and complained, "are you even listening to me Candice?"

Candice picked up her spoon and licked it playfully in front of him while she hummed, "what do I get in return if I help you Mr. Meddler? How about pleasing me a little? Let's settle on... a one night stand?" she winked at him as she finished her sentence.

Candice broke out in a playful smile seeing how Rui's face reddened with annoyance and embarrassment. Then she added, "I always wondered if men deeply in love with a woman can really keep their loyalty towards one woman. 

I remember, back there in Yang Globals, when Dr. CEO was my target, you always gulped and used to get out of breath whenever I teased you… Didn't you like me really back then Dr. Meddler?

I guess you have changed now, rather you have changed ever since Cali came into your life... a few men like you, it seems, are really loyal when they find the love of their life. Look at how yourself, all red right now of embarrassment. You even look annoyed by my proposal… don't you darling Meddler?"
