“You said you were worried about me, and freely disclosed my identity and status, but all you wanted for me was to become the saint’s maid.”

I brushed my bangs out of my face with one hand, glaring at Jian who couldn’t deny what I said.

‘Yes, there was an episode like this when I was a player.’

Pressing Edith under the name of a ‘saint’ was one of several ways to target Curtis. A saint who took her to God but was instead used as a servant for the rest of her life.

‘Wow. If I followed her blindly, I would’ve gotten stuck in the temple.’

As the temple was the player’s house, there were no target characters there. I clenched my fists in rage at Jian’s trickery.

WHACK!

“Oh my!”

Instead of slapping the main character on the cheek like what villainesses usually do, I punched her on the nose instead. Red blood dripped from her small nose, which got hit by my sturdy fist from being trained as a maid.

“Hey, what the hell is this…!”

WHACK! WHACK!

I swung my fist again at Jian who was taken by surprise and couldn’t even think of fighting back.

Until the heroine’s pretty face swelled up and she rolled to the floor like a piece of kernel, stopping didn’t slip my mind even when my arm felt sore.

CLATTER

Then the carriage door opened at the right time.

The main character was in crisis, and of course the knight should appear. I turned around without even being surprised.

“What’s going on?”

I looked down casually at Curtis, whose eyes were about to pop with shock, and shook my blood-stained fist in the air.

“Edith, I’m asking what’s happening between you and the saint now.”

He pointed to Jian, who was leaning on the seat with her eyes closed. Had she fainted or merely pretended to? I glanced at Jian and then turned back to Curtis as I asked.

“Don’t you have eyes?”

What am I doing? I gave it to her. I had no regrets about hitting anyone. Jian deserved to be beaten because of what she did.

“…Edith, you are so!”

I turned toward the carriage door where Curtis stood, a frown of disgust on his face.

“Why did you unleash your pettiness on the saint?”

“…”

“That’s enough. I don’t even have to ask. The saint is my lady-”

I shoved Curtis’ shoulder as he rambled useless words, “Get out of the way.”

One of his eyebrows lifted as I stepped out of the carriage. I opened my mouth again, not even the least frightened by his cold eyes.

“Shut up. If you don’t want to be beaten, too.”

Of course, I wouldn’t be able to knock Curtis down, who was the Grand Duke of the North and was a tall man.

But Curtis would never hit Edith no matter what I did. Because he was that kind of man.

‘It’s annoying.’

As soon as I got out of the carriage, I recalled Valérez’s eyes full of hurt, which made my heart ache. I felt like a cat was scratching my heart.

“Where are you going?”

Curtis grabbed my wrist as I tried to walk away. I glared fiercely at him as he followed me and left the fallen saint without care.

“Don’t touch me carelessly.”

His eyes widened and thought about it, before finally letting me go with a bit of hesitation.

“You have nowhere else to go.”

I gritted my teeth, staring helplessly at his hands raised in the air.

“What the hell does it matter to you now? Why on earth?!”

I don’t know why he was going to this trouble. Curtis always turned a blind eye when Edith needed his help. It’s funny that he’s trying to hold me back in a belated sense of guilt.

“Who was the one who destroyed the places I could’ve stayed?”

Edith was vicious to Curtis, but he was cruel as well to her.

“The irresponsible man who took away the Grand Duke’s lady qualifications and had me kicked out of the Marquis’ residence.”

Curtis pursed his lips as if he was about to make an excuse. But before he could say a word, I went on first and added.

“A damned human being who recklessly revealed my identity and got me kicked out of Ares’ mansion.”

His cold blue eyes sank.

“It’s all you, Curtis.”
