<QUEST> Pioneer Your New Path!3

A. Lirina Abina’s fugitive maid (hunter may chase after you)

B. Beggar

C. Saint (this is a locked selection)

Lirina was still looking for me? I swept down my forearms and frowned at the last choice.

‘Huh? Why is the saint job a locked choice?! I already filled the pouch!’

<SYSTEM> The job ‘Saint’ can only be activated at the temple.

‘…Fuck, really?’

Fuck this system. I sighed despondently at the system message. Now the only option left for me was to be a beggar.

Lady to maid to guest, and now to a beggar.

Rather than raising my status, I was slowly on the path of complete decline.

<SYSTEM> With no pride left, you chose the shameful path of ‘Former young lady, current beggar’.

Job: Beggar

Level: 1

※ Reputation decreases by 10 as job-related penalty.

‘It made me sad that my job was a beggar, but there’s even a penalty…’

I rubbed the tip of my red nose at my dropping reputation.

It’s so sad to be a beggar that I could only cry.

Swallowing tears, I moved to my new workplace, ‘The Back Alley of Alms’.

* * *

The back alleys of the downtown area where the Red House was located were crowded with a lot of beggars. It was literally a den of swarms flocked by foreigners, children, and the elderly.

“Sir, just a penny would suffice!”

“My sick, ailing mother is starving!”

“Lady, sweet lady! Please have pity on me, a former aristocrat!”

The line being that he was originally an aristocrat seemed useful. I should use it later.

I looked around the alley, listening to begging lines as diverse as the types of beggars.

‘Oh, there’s an empty spot there.’

I ran over quickly to an empty spot at the entrance of the alley. I spread my apron on the ground, then decorated the cloth with wildflowers I picked up along the way.

“Hey! Who are you?”

I clapped my hands to open business, having completed my own stand, but a child suddenly approached me from another corner with a frown.

“Who are you? Why are you here?”

“…Huh? Why?” I replied with apprehension at the child’s sharp eyes, “Can’t I stay here?”

Could it be that I didn’t fit because I looked too cute?

“Of course! This is my area!”

“Do, do you have certain sections here for beggars?”

The child snorted at my question and pointed to another alley with his foot.

“Yes! This is the children’s area. The adults are over there!”

I checked the alley the child pointed at and furrowed my brows.

‘Oh, it looks like an alley that not many people pass by…’

Anyway, it was kind of weird to take the child’s spot. I took my apron with me, and the child looked at me from head to toe and opened his mean mouth again.

“Hey, don’t you think you’re more suited to the red-light district?”

Based on his physique, the child must be around ten years old. I tilted my head wondering about what I just heard.

“Huh? The red-light district?”

“Yeah. Looking at your face, don’t you think you’d be popular with men?”

“That’s nothing a child should be saying!”

I was shocked at the child’s brazen words and smacked his head. The boy glared at me and raised his voice.

“I was only trying to help you, damn it, why are you hitting me?! You evil hag!”

The angry child stepped on all of my business items – the wildflowers – which deemed them unfit for sale. But I couldn’t stop him because I was distracted by something else.

<SYSTEM> You are close to ‘Adrian Lionel von Bernhard’. If you find him within the time limit, the probability of a secret route occurring increases.

If it was Adrian, he was the Crown Prince which was a target character.

‘Why is such a man in the back alley?’
