Chapter 88: The Ominous Foreboding

The thick scent of fresh grape juice invaded their nostrils and filled their lungs with its sweet and intoxicating smell.

"Smells sweet," Nagina inhaled the sweet aroma that was floating in the air and smiled showing her pearly white fangs which added a charm to her already overflowing cuteness.

"Of course it does," Le Fang Ling could not help but smile at the young girl who was far more excited than she was to visit the festival.

"We came at the right time." She smiled looking around at the busy and crowed streets.

Big red lanterns hung on the wall and every corners of the street, illuminating the whole area. Beautiful dancers dressed in long and flimsy robes were dancing in the stage, waving their fan in the air while smiling seductively at the audiences from beneath their veil.

"Are  you having fun?" Le Fang Ling glanced at the round and glittering eyes which reflected the lights from the lanterns.

Placing her hands  in front if her, she nodded her head in agreement and smiled at her host.

"Yes!"

"As long as you are having fun, cutie."  She gently patted her head as they continued to explore the whole street.

As for her, she felt that she was already a little too old for things like festival and fooling around. If it was not for persistence of Nagina who was not going to take a no for an answer, she would have probably stayed inside the inn cultivating and trying to learn a few more qi manipulation techniques.

After that one time, she had not been able to enter her se of consciousness. It was as if there was an invisible barrier that was stooping her from crossing the dimensions.

'Is it that Lilith doesn't want me to see her now?' Le Fang ling had suspicion  but she had not confirmed her doubt yet. If she could meet her once again, she could get information on Le Zuan so that when he came on the day of tournament, she will know what to expect form him.

After all, it was always better to know your enemies than not knowing them.

"Host!" Nagina pulled her by her arms and called out her name for the 3rd time before she finally got a reaction from Le Fang Ling who was lost in her own thought.

"Oh, sorry. What is it?" Le Fang Ling woke up to the reality only when  she heard Nagina calling her.

"Humph," Nagina pouted slightly while placing her hands on her hips in displeasure.

"Are you not happy?" She narrowed her eyes and tried to see her host's current mental and emotional state.

Le Fang Ling clearly felt those gazes on her and knew what she was going to do.

"Stop Nagina, don't do that." Le Fang Ling placed her hands on her eyes and covered them immediately.

"It's an order." She stressed out her words in a clam voice. She did not want Nagina checking up on her depressing thoughts when she was having one of the best moments of her life.

"Alright! I understand," Nagina grabbed her  hands and tore them away from her eyes. It was the first time, she had been ordered by her host instead of a request.

It was new, it was weird and it made her feel all jumble dup inside.

"Tch, meanie." She clicked her tongue and sharply turned around. Without waiting for her to join her, Nagina crawled away by herself.

She felt her insides churning and there was something wrong with her data. Thinking it was the abnormality that she felt in the past, she wanted to be quickly away from the source of discomfort which was none other than her host.

"Where are you going?" She called after her but Nagina was quick on her tail and  she was far away from her to hear her.

It was more like, she was ignoring her calls despite hearing her.

"That silly girl!" Le Fang Ling rushed right after her without even wasting a moment.

The crowd was big and the street was congested. Afraid, she might lose sight of Nagina, she pushed in right to crowd.

Just as she was walking, her shoulder bumped into one of the people who were coming from the opposite path.

"I am sorry dear miss," she humbly apologized to her without even caring for her status as a cultivator. Even if it was just a mortal, she was fine bowing down to  them as it really did not matter to her.

She raised her head up to find a pair of pearly black eyes looking at her. Her entire presence gave off the feeling of fidelity, uptight and sophistication. Her entire being exuded the air of nobility.

"It's fine, I am not hurt." She smiled politely at her and gave a courtesy bow.

"It's not fine, young miss."  A slightly shorter girl who was dressed in a commoners dress looked at Le fang Ling and humped.

"Little Qin, its' fine. Do not pick a fight with strangers." She gazed lovingly at her feisty little maid and could not help but smile at her outburst.

"But, she bumped on you and…" the girl's voice trailed off until it was audible no more. Despite having a short temper and a sharp tongue, she seemed to be docile to the noble maiden.

"Good girl," she rubbed her hair with a warm smile on her face and turned to look at Le fang Ling.

Le fang Ling thought something was off between them but she had no time to think about them when the Nagina in her mind was already out of her sight. She was going to have to punish her for acting like a brat.

'Well, she is just  a brat after all.' Even if she was older, her current form looked as it belonged to a girl of age 12 or 13.

"Happy festive time." she smiled at the Nobel young maiden full of sincerity and shifted her sight to the girl called little Qin.

"You too, little miss. I wish both of you a happy evening." She greeted them and started to follow the path where her spiritual connection to Nagina was leading her to.

She had an ominous foreboding about this whole situation.
