Mia Duncan's POV
"Leo, I'm home. Are you feeling lonely, honey?" I said as I opened up the door to my apartment. Leo came to my feet as he was meowing for his food.
"Just a sec, honey," I said before I put all my stuff onto the dining table. I went to the kitchen to find a can of wet tuna for Leo. I opened it up and put it down for him. He was meowing happily before indulging into his meal.
"Are you a good boy when mummy was gone?" I said as I patted him on his back. I smiled before I went to get my stuff from the table and went to the bedroom, into my walking closet. I punched in my password and another set of wardrobe appeared. I put my wigs and dress and heels onto its place. I closed the wardrobe and hopped into the shower. It feels good to get rid of the smells of human sins. I got off and dried my hair before wearing a robe and went to get some food from the kitchen.
Renee cooked some pasta that was left in the microwave and I heated it. After 2 minutes, I took it out and went into the living room and switched on the television. The event of the crime scene was coming up. Detective Liam Hunt was giving some comments about the accident.
"We are unfortunately not being able to tell what was the motive of the killer but we know that we will catch him by the end of the week. I can assure the citizen of Edinburgh we are not in danger, thank you," he said before leaving the crime scene with his partner.
I smirked at the television. "Look, Leo, he thinks he can catch the murderer," I said as Leo was snuggling on my lap and I caressed his head. He meowed at me before he went into the bedroom.
"Catch me if you can, Hunt, cause you will never be one step ahead of me," I said as I was smirking at the television like Liam Hunt was in front of me.
The silence of my house was broken by the rings of my phone. I stood up from the television and took the phone from my backpack. The number on the phone screen was unknown. I was hesitated at first until I have enough courage to answer it, and guess what? I did.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Well, it looks like your touch has not gone yet, Duncan," a raspy, low voice was coming from the phone.
"What can I say, I only delivered the best, " I said, as I did recognize the voice, well at least it was my client's voice.
"Very good, Duncan. Keep up the good work and maybe your expertise in this field will expand. Have a good day, Ms. Duncan," it said.
"And you too, Ma'am, as well," I said before I ended the call. I put the phone down to charge it and went back to the living room to close the telly. I went into the kitchen to wash my plate and went to brush my teeth and flossed. I went into my walk-in wardrobe and put on some pajamas before I went into the bed and dream off to my dark wonderland, with Leo at my feet to warm me up.
I was in the darkroom that only has lights on me. I was looking around and no one was there. I walked to get out of there but I only realized that I was just going around in a circle. Where am I? What was happening? All the unimaginable thoughts were coming into my head like a machine gun. I was so scared that I can only scream but nothing was coming out of my mouth. I thought I was going to die but there was some light at the end of the darkness. I walked toward the light and I just realized that I was running toward the lights. I stretched out my hands to get it but it keeps slipping away. I was desperate now to catch it as I was walking into the light but then it's gone. I dropped to the floor and was breathing so hard. then, a hand was being offered to me. I looked at the figure and it was all light but I know behind those lights were a male, a man. I took his hand before the darkness can consume me and everything went black.
I woke up with a startled. I was breathing heavily as I was just running for miles and miles away. I calmed myself down as I was sweating profusely. I was in agony that I feel like it was all too real. I counted to 10 to calm my nerves as my hands were shaking. When I was calming myself down, someone knocked on the door. I looked at the clock on my night table, it was 8 in the morning. Who the hell knocked on someone's door at 8 in the morning?!! I thought furiously. I stood up from my bed and took my robe and put it on. Leo was looking at the door when I went to see who was calling me out in the early morning. He meowed at me before I pick him up and caressed his head.
"Miss Duncan. Open the door!. I know you're in there. Your neighbor, Anna, told me so," the sound from the outside was calling on me as it was pounding on the door.
"Coming," I said while cursed at Anna for being a busy body. I opened the nuts and bolts of the door, mostly because for security but now I think it is ridiculous to have so many Lockes on a single door.
"Hi, can I help you?" I said as I was looking into a specimen that was a drop, dead, gorgeous I ever see in my lifetime.
Liam Hunt's POV
"Hi, can I help you?" A sweet voice was coming out from her beautiful face as I looked at her. She had the hair of an angel as it flows on her back and framed her beautiful face. Her eyes were so cold that I can get a chill from it as I disturb her morning, beauty sleep. I can tell that she just woke up with her bed hair but it was so enticing that I keep staring at her face.
"Excuse me, can I HELP you with something?" She said, irritated that I just looked at her face for a couple of minutes before I blinked.
"Oh, yeah, hmm, I'm sorry. Are you Mia Duncan?" I asked her. She blinked a few times before answering with a nod.
"yes, is there any problem, sir?" She asked.
"well, I have a warrant from the police station that was stating you are under arrest for murdering Mr. Burgess last night in a motel down in Edinburgh. I need you to come with me," I said as I was walking inside into her home. It was lovely and feel homey. I think I can see myself spending my time here. Wait, what?
"Excuse me, sir, I think you got the wrong person. I was at home last night, watching television with my cat. I don't think I know this man called Mr. Burgess as you said it," she was in defense mode now as I was walking around in her cozy apartment.
"Well, if you think you don't have any problem then I suggest you go to the station with me so that we can sort this thing out," I said leisurely as I was looking at her face. She laughed sarcastically before shooting dagger at my face.
"fine, let me change for a moment please," she said with a cold smile that can freeze all Earth that looked into her eyes. She went back into her bedroom as I am guessing and waited for the lady of the hour to come out. After a few moments passed, I was still waiting for her. Where is she, I thought before getting up from my seat.
"Ma'am, I need you to come with me now," I said as I knocked on the door. The door was left ajar. I was afraid to go in if I catch her undress.
"Ma'am, I'm coming in. Please be dressed," I said before opened the door quietly.
"Ma'am?" I asked as I was looking around in the bedroom. It was a nice looking bedroom for a feminine figure. It has a bed at the end of the wall and a night table. There was a door that leads to a bathroom and a door to a walk-in closet. I knocked on the door as I was drawing out my gun.
"Ma'am?" I said before someone was calling from behind.
"What do you think you're doing?" That feminine voice startled me as I hid my gun behind my back. Mia was standing in front of the bathroom door as she crossed her hands in front of her chest.
"umm, umm, nothing. You're ready. Let's go," I said as I hid my gun inside my pants and walked past her. She smelled so nice as she followed me from behind.
"let me get my handbag," she said before going into her walk-in closet for a moment. Then she got out and was looking at me boringly.
"Can we go now?" She asked before she went out of the bedroom and into the kitchen to get her car keys.
"no self-driving, ma'am. Police business so you need to come with me," I said before taking her hands and went out of her small, cozy apartment.
