Mia Duncan's POV
"She? Who is she?" Liam asked me as I was pacing back and forth in the room. No, it can't be. She was exiled. She would never brave enough to come to me like this, I thought as I was pacing back and forth until Liam stood in front of me and I stopped to look at his handsome face.
"can you tell me who is she as you claimed to be afraid of her," Liam said as he drew me into his arms. I sighed as I leaned into his body heat.
"It started a long time ago when I was 18 years old…" I said as I was cuddling with Liam.
"'Wrong, what is wrong with your stance, Mia. Get up. Learn to be a better fighter like Marina. You should learn from her, one or two,' my grandmaster said who taught me the Krav Maga and father of Marina," I said as I looked at Liam. He urged me to continue.
"I just lost my parents and was sent to stay with my uncle Ivan that I barely knew at that time. I did not know what to do or what he did in Croatia or with whom he got involved with. I was collateral damage for my uncle as he went psychotic after the death of your parents," I said as I took Liam's hands into mine. He held my hands and gently squeezed it.
"It was not until our first assignment that Marina showed her bloodthirsty," I said as I remembered the night of the killing of Eric Hunt.
"'hurry up, Mia. You will miss all the fun,' Marina said as she was getting ready with her Dragunov. I was started to think that why do we, 18 years old, need Dragunov to do our assignment. I refused to do what I was told. I knew the rifle was to kill people. I was ready to fail my master when Marina saw you and I kind of stalked you as well," I said as I was blushing, reminiscing Liam during his 22 years old. He was so handsome and just off graduated from college.
"really? What did I do at that time?" He asked. Sweats were pooling at my head as my body temperature was rising.
"come on, tell me. What is it?" He asked as he kept bugging me to tell me about my past.
"I refuse to tell you," I said as I went to get to the main story.
"come on, Mia. Just a little bit, what did you see that night? What am I doing?" He was eager to know what he did. Imbecile. I sighed as I kept a stoic face in front of him as I explained to him.
"you were touching yourself," I said monotonously. Liam's smile was gone and all I can see was that his ears were red.
"You want the truth, so here it is," I said as I rolled my eyes at him. He was scratching his head as he was surprised to hear what I just said.
"so, you saw my dick before then?" He asked, blushing. I smiled at his cute reaction.
"What can I say? I'm very disappointed. I thought it might be bigger," I said as I smirked at him as I can see that his face was blushing hard.
"Well, don't judge. I don't get to release myself every day as I controlled myself. That night, I was mad at myself and my parents. Hence, I touched myself," he said as he looked at me. I rolled my eyes at him as we went on to make eye contact.
"well, you like that old dick anyway," he said as he looked at me wickedly. I blushed at him as I knew that he knew I liked it so much that he was willing to give it to me every time I asked him. I cleared my throat as Liam was smirking at him. I tried to look cool after that awkward conversation.
"Anyway, Marina saw you as well before she went to complete the task. I tried to talk her out of doing the right thing, not to kill anybody that we don't know. But, she refused before… before your parents went out of the garage and her… she," I can't finish the sentence as I knew it was also my fault as I can stop her on time and none of these would have happened. But if I did travel back in time and changed it, my chances to meet Liam Hunt would not be like this.
"Mia, Mia, Mia!" Liam's voice came into my eardrum. I blinked before looked at him. I smiled at him.
"What?" I asked. He looked at me as I was an idiot.
"You were spacing out. Are you okay?" He asked concerned at me. My heart fluttered at his sensitivity to my wellbeing.
"Yeah. I'm fine. It's just I don't know what to do about Marina. I don't think I can face her after all these years," I said. Liam looked at me weird.
"Why?" He asked. I sighed before looking out the window of the room. The sun was setting for the night.
"She disappeared after the first mission. The organization cannot trace her and they asked me a bunch of questions after the first mission. Since she disappeared after the killing, the organization thinks that I killed Eric Hunt and his wife. So, I passed the test. I think she came back to test me on my skills since I was the top assassin of the organization and she hated it," I said as I wrapped myself with my arms. I felt somebody heat behind my back before Liam's arms wrapped around my arms.
"It's okay, she can never defeat the best and that's you," Liam whispered into my left ear. I smiled after his compliment, I looked up at him.
"really? Do you think so, Mr. Detective, just to get into my pants?" I said as I arched my eyebrow at him. He laughed before turning me around.
"Milady, I only said the truth, and yes, of course, I want to get into your pants even though I already kind of owned it. I want to keep other guys out of it," he said before pulling my face closer to him and kissed me on the lips. I smiled for the first time after that horrible news.
After our talk about the news, I moved to the study with Liam to think more critically about our plan after the unknown forces have come to knock on our door of opportunity. I needed to contact Marco but he did not answer any of my calls or returned. Maybe he was busy with something.
"Okay, since Marina has come into play, what is our move?" Liam asked me as we were looking at some of the pictures of the organization and everything that Mia can get her hands on the table. She looked seldom before dropping the dossier that said, Marina Kasun. She was an assassin that has gone missing from the organization from the age of 18 years old. She was considered dead by the organization but after the news, we knew that she was very much alive. Now, I needed to convince Marco to be more careful after this.
"where's Marco anyway?" I asked before my phone rang. I ignored it as I was mad at Marco for not returning my call very soon enough.
"Mia, phone," Liam said as he looked up from his files.
"in a minute, I want to make him wait," I said as I looked at the files. Liam shook his head as he looked back to the files. The second time the phone rang, Liam was about to tell me to pick it up but I hold my hand.
"Let him be. I will pick it up later after the thousand times he called me back," I said as I looked happily at Liam before I turned the pages of the dossier.
"Don't you think it will be important if he called us back?" Liam asked.
"he will learn not to make me call him a thousand times, love," I said as I marked some strength and weakness of the organization.
"Besides, our line is secure and no one will know anything about our plan," I just realized that was the mistake that I said. Liam arched his eyebrow before staring at me. I sighed before I held my hands up.
"Fine, fine, you win. I will pick it up, just right after this ring," I said before the ringtone ended. Liam rolled his eyes at me as I went to the phone. Once it rang, I picked it up and talked to Marco.
"About time you called. What took you so long?" I said as I looked at Liam. He shook his head again at my silliness before the end of the line was quiet.
"Hello, Marco? Are you there? hey, I was just kidding not to pick up sooner, you made me wait so I will make it even," I said as I laughed after I told him.
"well, that's a long wait even after the news about your killing and your head has 1 million dollars on the bounty," a familiar voice, a lone voice that I haven't heard since I was 18 years old. immediately, sweats were pooling at my temple and my heartbeat was fast.
Fuck!
