Chapter 10: The Supervisor

Anastasia Honchar's POV

I woke up, startled as my dream was so vivid that I have dinner with Marco and everything about me getting drunk and all the stuff that happened in the dream. only it was not a dream after I saw a note on my night table.

I see you later, cara mia, and don't forget to eat your medicine -M

I groaned as I knew what I have got myself into. I embarrassed myself in front of my mark and now he thinks that he owned me. I laughed bitterly. I wanted the earth to open and swallow me alive. Then, my phone rang. It was an international number before I picked it up. I know who it was.

"Hello, Alfred," I said as I was getting up from the bed. I can sense that he was laughing silently at me at the end of the line. I rolled my eyes before I took a glass of water beside my bed and drank it.

"Well, hello my dear. How was the new job holding up?" He said. I groaned. Which job was he talking about?

"The real one or the cover that you asked me to do?" I asked him after I cleared my throat for a while. Much better. He laughed.

"well, it depends on you. Which one is the real one?" He asked me. I rolled my eyes at his question but I preferred not to answer it.

"Well, anyway, I was calling to ask about the progression of your job," he said as I can sense something was amiss in his question.

"well, I don't know. I just started working and I don't know if I can uncover the truth in 48 hours. Are you sure you don't want to send someone else because I might need a hand," I said as I got out of the bed as I went to the wardrobe to get my work clothes? I was already running late.

"well, I don't know about that—"

"listen, Alfred, I need to get ready and all that so, can I call you back?" I asked him as I was hoping that he gets the message that I needed more details before I can draw a conclusion or perhaps do something about that company and perhaps even Marco.

Marco.

My thoughts were running with him right now. How he smiled at me as he was looking into my eyes. How he lit up everything in his way and how he did not do anything that anyone told him to.

but he made a deal with me. To train me. Why was that?

That thought made me question what was his motive, what he possibly gain from that and why he was willing to help his enemy, perhaps a competitor. I shrugged that thought before I went to take a quick shower as I was already running late.

I was walking down the lobby when I saw a familiar figure. Val was lounging on the sofa as he raised his coffee mug at me. I walked toward him. I can spare a few minutes.

"yo, sister. How are you?" Val asked me as I hugged him. It was good to see a familiar face.

"so, did you get it? Did you have it?" I asked him as he was looking at me lazily before he smirked at me.

"I might but what's in it for me?" He asked. I know that he would always do something for me in return he will get something from my potion.

"well, I might have something that made people forget what they have done in 48 hours," I said as I took out the vial that contains my potion. My perfect first potion. I did not know that it would work until I asked Sabrina to test it. After she took it, she did not remember what she did in the last 48 hours. now, that would worth something.

"Well, good enough. I thought I have something stronger but I guess that will work for me," he said before he exchanged my passport with that vial. He smiled at me as I was looking at him. He seems…happy.

"did anything happened while I was gone?" I asked him as he looked at me. His eyebrows knotted together.

"what do you mean?" He asked.

"you seem different," I said.

"I feel different but enough about me. Should you be working?" He asked me as he was smirking. I looked at my clock and damn it, I was running late.

"Okay, I need to run and not because I don't want to question you more. okay, I see you later or whenever this job is over," I said as I went to the front door. Val just chuckled at me.

I went to get a taxi but it was a busy morning and I don't have anything else but run toward my workplace. I was running until I was out of breath before someone honed at me. I turned to look who it was. It was a sleek yellow Lamborghini before the driver rolled its window.

"Need a lift?" He asked. I closed my eyes as I saw that mischievous green orbs with a hit of wrinkles around the corner of his eyes. He was smiling at me. I opened my eyes before I smiled at him.

"that would be unnecessary, Marco, I can find my way to work," I said as I did not want to succumb just because he has a nice ride. Such a nice ride. He shrugged.

"Well, suit yourself and please be on time for your work, Ms. Honchar," he said before he rolled up his window and drove off.

"what the—hey!" I said as I looked at him going off from the road. I was furious but I can talk to him later. He promised me to train me tonight and perhaps I can vent to him later.

I went to the building as I was wearing sneakers, jeans, and a red blouse. I have my bag sling to my body so it would help me to run better. I ran up the stairs and was walking toward the gate. I swiped my card as I was breathing heavily. I did not expect my cardio was not as fit as I used to be.

I walked toward my department, the pharmaceutical creating and testing section. I was walking past through some of the experiments that were being tested in their respective rooms as I can see scientists were recording their data and findings. I went to my desk as I put my bag and I looked up as someone approached me.

"Hey, did you hear?" He asked me. I arched my eyebrow.

"hear what?" I asked as if he was being oblivious that I just got here.

"the new supervisor was in. And he was a charmer. Did you not get the email that they sent you last night?" He asked. I shook my phone as I looked there was a notification that there was an urgent meeting this morning.

"and you already running late. Get moving," he said as he went to the other employees that were just oblivious as to the email. I did not know that. My phone died last night and I just had the chance to look at it just now. I sighed before I went to the conference meeting.

"late, as usual, Ms. Honchar," I closed my eyes at that voice. It was my boss. I don't want to face him so early but when I turned around, I was surprised to see him next to my boss.

"well, I think you know already who he is. He's the new supervisor. Mr. Marco Conti or perhaps you know him as your—"

"husband. My husband. But we like to keep a professional in our workplace. A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Conti," I said as I was shaking his hand. His eyes were twinkling with mischief as he shook my hand.

"pleasure is all mine," he said as my boss looked at him like he was a pest in this workplace.

"Well, enough chit chat. We should get inside. I need to introduce you to everyone else," he said as he dragged Marco out of there. I rolled my eyes at his childish behavior but I let it slide before I entered the room after them.

Marco Conti's POV

well, to tell you the truth, I was qualified, perhaps overqualified for this job. It was a supervisor's job which means I need to supervise all the scientists that were working under my department. I used to be a scientist before I went into the darker side of the scientific community and I have to bear the consequences in my conscious.

Anna slid into the conference room and was standing at the back of the room. She did not look happy as we shook hands earlier. I liked it when she's mad. It made her even hotter with her fiery hair and those cool blue eyes like a glacier, ready to break off at any moment.

"well, morning everyone, may I present to you your new supervisor, Mr. Marco Conti. We need someone that could help you with your work and I think Mr. Conti was overqualified for this job but he accepted it anyway. So, let's us welcome him properly," he said before he clapped. Everyone joined in. Except for Anna.

"well, go back to work now. Chop chop," the old man said as he was shooing all the employees out. I was left with him before he turned to look at me.

"look, about your wife—"

"we will keep it a secret. I don't want anyone to be distracted, would you?" I asked him. He shook his head.

"good, then I trust that you will keep the secret?" I asked him as I was squeezing his shoulder. He flinched but he nodded anyway.

"Okay, see you around," I said before I walked out of the room and wanted to supervise my department. This will be the best day of my life.
