Marco Conti's POV
"We have something that might help you with your case," the old man said as he was looking at me. I nodded.
"But you must do something in return for me," he added. I nodded again. If he wanted me to go run to Mount Everest, I would, and without oxygen.
"I wanted you to take my girl under your wing," he said as he slid a picture to me. I looked at it. It was a pretty old photo but the girl in it was not that old. She was barely 18 years old.
"what do you mean?" I asked him. He chuckled before he called for his assistant.
"T will help you to get set up. I know she can be a handful but I believe that you can make a difference in her life," he said as T just nodded at me before he put a file on top of mine.
"What is the meaning of this?" I asked as I took the files. It was all about my job at the organization and my past. The old man chuckled.
"well, I can assure you that if you follow through with our preposition, your past and the packages that you have will be wiped clean like a clean slate. Isn't that what you want?" He asked me as he arched his eyebrow. I glanced at T and he nodded his head. I sighed.
"What do I have to do?" I asked him before the old man smiled at me.
*****
I woke up with a start. I don't think that I would be having those dreams again. The dreams that have been making a promise if I followed it through. I rubbed my face with my hands when I glanced at the clock.
3 AM. I sighed. It must be hard to fall back to sleep again so I got out of the bed and went to the kitchen to get some water. It was dark as I don't usually put on lights inside my house when I was asleep. It distracted me.
I went to the kitchen and took a glass and filled it with water. I drank it and emptied it in record time. I put it down before I sighed. I was taking a deep breath when I heard a noise behind my back. I smirked. I turned to see she was standing there.
"Hello, Anna. Rough night?" I asked her as she was looking at me. She was sitting at the stool that was on the counter. I did try to hide where I was but she found me in record time.
"tell me more," she said. I arched my eyebrow before she sighed.
"Tell me more about the drug that you were exposed to," she said as she stood up from the stool. She went to my side and took the glass as she went to wash it. I was taken back that I cannot form words in my mouth right now. I cleared my throat.
"right, umm, it's a long list—"
"I got time," she cut me off. I arched my eyebrows even more.
"well, why don't we sit so I can tell you the rest of my innovation?" I said as I went to switch on the lights. She stopped me.
"No, let's just sit in the dark for a while," she said as she was holding my hand. I looked at her like she was out of her character. Did Marco Thorn do something to her that she was being tender to me? I wondered.
"well, are you going to tell me or not?" She asked me before I shook my head and smiled at her. We went to sit at the stools around the counter. I put my hands on it as I sighed.
"It all began when I was just started to find jobs after university. I was intrigued by the idea of creating my own company but I don't want to follow into my family's business," I said. Anna arched her eyebrow at me.
"What kind of business?"
"hotel, casinos, lodges, stuff like that. After all, my brother, Kyle already has that covered," I said. She just looked at me before I continued.
"so, I got a job from anonymous. I don't know what to do. I mean, they reached out for me and I immediately said yes, how naive," I said as I chuckled to make my burden feel lighter. Anna squeezed my arm.
"Hey, we all make mistakes," she said. I nodded.
"so, I went and they got me in. I was excited that I don't know what I was working for first but I did have my first assignment," I said. She waited before I ran my fingers through my hair.
"they asked me to make a formula that will withstand the force of the punch and the person will have strength out of this world, like a super-soldier serum," I said.
"but it was not?" I nodded.
"I thought I have completed the formula and to be accomplished like that, I have to taste the first victory that I had. But I was wrong," I said.
"so, you took the serum for yourself?" She asked. I nodded.
"then, all hell breaks loose. I was disoriented, anger and rage were fuelling inside me that I cannot contain it so they have to force me to take me down," I said before I mentioned to my stomach. It was a wound, a cut that I will always remember it all my life. Anna looked at it but not touching it. I just aware that I was not wearing any clothes, just the boxer that I usually in.
"I'm sorry," she whispered to me. I chuckled.
"Nah, it's all in the past and now that I have been given a second chance at life, I will not let it waste," I said before I turned to look at her. She arched her eyebrow at me. I chuckled.
"it's you, Anna, and I don't think I can ever be with anyone else," I whispered as I was moving out of the stool to stand in front of her. She did not flinch nor did she moved. She just stared at me as I was closing my eyes. I opened it to see that she was staring at me with emotions in her eyes. A lot of emotions.
"Anna," I whispered before I went to caress her cheeks. She looked at my eyes as she leaned into my touch. I smiled as she closed her eyes to feel only me.
"what will people say?" She asked me. I chuckled.
"well, we're already married, aren't we?" I said and that's when it hit her. She got out of my touch and stood before stepping back.
" I have to go, if you don't want to tell me the ingredients, I don't know how I can help you," she said before she walked past me. I grabbed her wrists before pulling her into my arms.
"Good night," I said before I kissed her. She was taken back before she kissed me with the same intensity that I might give her. She snaked her arms around me before I can sense that her nipples were grazing my bare chest. I smiled in that kiss.
"I see you in the morning," I said before I went out of the kitchen. I know that she can get inside hence she can find her way out. She was a spy and assassin after all.
Anastasia Honchar's POV
After my little visit to Marco's house, I know that he felt like I was more capable than anything that I was showing in my training. I just wanted his company and it's all worth it. When he kissed me just now when we were in his kitchen, my stomach made a flip. I blushed all the way home as I slipped inside my own house.
"Guac, what is this feeling?" I asked myself as I was pacing back and forth in my room. I did not switch on any lights as it was early in the morning and I was breathing, hard.
"he's a psycho. He knows how to get inside my head. I cannot let him," I said before I took a seat on my bed. But my heart said otherwise. I was planning to get into his house to scare him but when he entered the kitchen with nothing but his boxer, I gulped at his sight.
he was like a Greek god with his high cheekbones and full lips. His eyes were dancing under the moonlight as he turned to look at me. I was waiting the whole time as I caught a breath. His sight was overwhelming and now my desire for him was unstoppable. If I went to see him in a dark room again, I think I might lose it.
In the morning, I went to the office as usual. I was wearing my green loose blouse with a black skirt and a sneaker. yup, still rocking those sneakers and I don't mind about people giving me the stinky eyes. I loved my fashion.
as I went inside the building, people were gathering in the lobby. I saw someone was being fired by the boss. The old boss, not Marco, even though he can do much more than that.
"get out!" He shouted before the woman was scurrying around the employees that were watching them. The old boss looked so smug before he looked at me. His smug was being replaced by a smile.
"Ms. Honchar, you're here. I thought you might be going away with your husband," he said as he was coming at me, keeping a distance. I forced a smile at him.
"Marco's not in yet?" I asked him as I was dumb. He laughed.
"Oh, Ms. Honchar, I thought you knew where your husband went. He did not tell you?" He asked me. I gulped. I cannot let this man manipulated me.
"well, he left early today. So I don't know where he was. He said that he wanted to get some fresh air before going to work," I said. He smiled at me with a smug.
"I see, well I should not keep you waiting any longer. Have a good day," he said before he went away. I released a breath that I don't know I was holding. But the more important question was, where was Marco?!
