Chapter 9

Ten days have passed…

In a deep gorge a loud deafening roar of some demon beasts reverberate throughout the area. Rumbling sounds and cry of some beast followed after. At a mountain top near the deep gorge, a flash of shadow suddenly appear after hearing the sound. It then leap from tree to tree in a speed almost not visible to the naked eye. A weird looking black goggles cover its eyes. Strapped on his back is a long object wrapped in animal skin. And on its side a short sword with a black scabbard that shines as the rays of the sun hits its surface.

This is Shin Jiao, he was hunting at that time when he heard the sound. His gut feeling tells him to check it out. Although he hesitates a little because the roar seems to belong to a higher level demon beast. But since he already have 12 spheres in his dantian, his confidence is boosted a little. He also learned another skill when the eleventh sphere was formed. He noticed that he can now manifest his energy and eject it out of his body. With this discovery he tried to do a lot of experiment which result to him gaining more insights to using the energy of the spheres in his dantian.

So for ten days he gathered a lot of materials all over the forest. He also integrated rune formation with modern programming to make his very own basic patterns and algorithms. With his discovery he invented some artifacts derived from modern weapons and gadgets.

The first one is a pair of boots made from demon beast leather and iron. He fashioned it to look like an advanced tactical boots in his old world. He enchanted it with a silence effect and a speed boost of 3 times movement effect. And an emergency boost of 20 times speed boost, which will last for 5 minutes and consume a core of 2nd level demon beast.

The second is an advance google which can detect heat signatures and advance item identification, which means it can detect levels of demon beast and also a cultivator's strength, and it uses a 1st level demon beast core as its energy source. This made Shin Jiao spend a lot of his time, from the design to the technological aspect of the object. Luckily he learned from the jade strips the basics and combined it with his modern knowledge on technology and science, making this item unique in this world.

The third item that he crafted is also something from his old world, which is used for shooting long distance targets, he tried to craft a BARRETT. This weapon doesn't use smokeless powder as its propellant but instead a combination of a level 2 demon beast core at least and can be enhanced by his own energy. Shin Jiao discovered that by compressing the raw energy using pressure many times over, he can produce a burst powerful enough to shoot a bullet up to 50 km away. Because of the energy enveloping the projectile, wind pressure doesn't have any effect on it. He made some inscription pattern that automatically compresses an energy from a source in a press of a trigger. Which can also be adjusted manually on how much energy the weapon absorbs. It is also equipped with a scope that zooms up to 10 km and uses the same heat detection technology as the google.

These three items along with his sword makes Shin Jiao a deadly hunter in the vast forest of Demon Greens.

As he approach the location where he heard the commotion, from afar he can see a group of 5 demon mastiffs encircling a heavily wounded demon White tiger. Using his goggles and the rifle's scope he watched them atop a tree. He positioned himself at about 5 kilometers away. Though there were trees all over, he can still clearly see what's going on below.

The white tiger struggled to fend off against the simultaneous attacks of the lower leveled beast. But the mastiffs are also weary of the white tiger's strength. Some of the mastiffs already has wounds on their body as well as the white tiger.But still they tried to slowly wither its strength.

Looking at them, Shin Jiao checked their energy levels.

"The demon mastiffs are all level 4 demon beasts, although in normal situation these mutts can't be a match to the demon white tiger. But it seems that the tiger was wounded from a fierce battle."

After observing the situation down below a sudden idea pop out of his mind.

"I need to prepare some traps first then start my assault."

"I spend a lot of my time collecting materials and crafting my new gears and weapons, this would be a good place to test them out. But I need to reduce their numbers first."

With a flash he zoomed through the trees and silently got closer, then he went down. After a couple of minutes his shadow can be seen going back to his hiding spot.

"Well I guess it's time to begin…" he muttered with a strange glint in his eyes.

Although the BARRETT like weapon is really powerful, but since it doesn't use gunpowder to shoot a bullet, it doesn't produce any sound at all. Making it a perfect weapon for long distance assassination.

"Judging from their power levels, I think using 3rd level cores is enough."

Taking a 3rd level core, he put it in a slot at the bottom of the BARRETT's magazine. Then he took some ore stones and crafted some bullet like projectiles and inserted it in the magazine. After some calculation he adjusted the scope and pulled the trigger.

"Pht"

A silver flash goes through the forest in a straight line and hit one of the mastiff directly blasting its head.

With a slump, a lifeless body of a mastiff fell down.

The rest of its group was startled and looked at the mangled flesh which was once its head. They became weary of their surrounding and tried to sniff out the enemy, but since Shin Jiao is too far, they can't find him with just their senses.

"Grrr…" the mastiffs barred their fangs.

At this time, Shin Jiao is already running towards another location.

No matter how hard the demon beast look, they just can't find him.

While the demon beasts looks frantic, a sudden flash of silver light appear from another location and blasted another mastiff head.

With the two deaths of their companions the remaining mastiffs began to fear the invisible enemy. Since the demon beasts are in panic, the white tiger silently eyed one that slowly retreats near it.
