Axel's PoV:
I pressured Axel 2 to hasten his research on finding out information about the high-level monsters in the hundred thousand paged book.
"I'm trying, okay? It's hard to read a book that has at least hundreds of thousands of pages!"
"Each monster in this world was written and recorded in this huge book with a lot of details. It is a good thing that this world's monsters had all been recorded without missing any descriptions and even the weaknesses and habitat the monsters can be found in is also recorded in this book."
Axel 2 told me the content that I could expect from the hundred thousand-page books.
The hundred thousand paged book wasn't that huge in terms of width and length because it had the same width and length as a book back on Earth.
Instead of the hundred thousand paged book being massive in terms of width and length, its height was equivalent to a skyscraper because its pages were in a stacked manner.
Axel 2 had to slowly open the book in half so that the cover and spine of the book wouldn't tear apart.
Fortunately, both the cover, spine and page of the book were surprisingly durable so as long as Axel 2 and I didn't use all of our attack stat in destroying it, then it wouldn't be torn apart.
Axel 2 had read for about at most thousand pages of the hundred thousand paged book so it would take him for at least a few hours to finished reading all of the words in the hundred thousand paged book.
Each page of the hundred thousand paged book had at least 250 words so it should take Axel 2 to finish reading the book at an estimate of 100,000 seconds considering that Axel 2 could read 250 words per second.
At Axel 2's peak condition, he could read 500 words per second but since his concentration was halved due to helping me in absorbing the mana in the surroundings, his reading speed was halved in the process.
It would take a lot of time for Axel 2 to finish reading the hundred thousand paged book and time was of the essence.
The high-level monsters would possibly corner and ganged up against the dragon king so the information that Axel 2 and I would be able to obtain in the hundred thousand paged book would significantly increase our chances of defeating the high-level monsters.
Oh, I had an idea! Why didn't I remember this a while ago!
It would have reduced the time it would take for Axel 2 to find the information about the high-level monsters in the hundred thousand paged book if I had told Axel 2 about this before.
"Axel 2! In every book, there is mostly a table of contents in the early pages of the book!"
"Find out any races and species the high-level monsters would possibly be in and find anything related to that subject in the table of contents to narrow down the pages that you are going to read!"
"That would help us reduce the amount of time it would take to read that hundred thousand paged book!"
"It's not like there aren't any tables of contents in that thick book since it has a hundred thousand pages in it."
I yelled towards Axel 2 who was currently reading the hundred thousand paged book with the utmost attention.
Axel 2 was reading the hundred thousand paged book and since it was thick, Axel 2 had to levitate the hundred thousand paged book in the air and open it in the page where he was reading at.
The hundred thousand paged book was levitated in a horizontal position and it was much longer than an average train.
It took several seconds before Axel 2 stopped reading the hundred thousand paged book and looked at me.
"I'll check if there's a table of contents but if there isn't, then it would waste my time even more."
After Axel 2 replied that to me, he checked the first page of the book.
Now that I thought about it, why would Axel 2 reply to me that checking a table of contents from a book which would take only a few seconds to be a waste of time?
If I'm not wrong, then the hundred thousand paged book which had numerous pages didn't have any page numbering.
I had caught a glimpse of the hundred thousand paged book and saw that it had at least 250 pages and didn't contain any page numbering at the bottom of the pages.
If there wasn't any page numbering, then would there be possibly a table of contents considering that every content in the table of contents had the page number where the content would be located.
"Axel 1, there isn't any table of contents on the first page or the other pages after that!"
"It took me half of my concentration to at least read 250 words per second and not to mention that I have made progress since I have read at least a thousand pages. Now it's gonna take half a minute for me to find the last page that I have read!"
"Who the hell is the author of this d*mn book! I understand if there wasn't any table of contents despite the number of pages it contains. But seriously! There isn't any page numbering in this d*mn book so how the hell can the reader of this book keep track of the pages that he read!"
Axel 2 closed the book and slammed it towards the floor in my mind space.
"How about you use a bookmark next time?", I suggested.
"Why didn't I think of that!"
Axel 2 exclaimed in delight after knowing that as he levitated the book in the air.
Axel 2 opened the pages of the hundred thousand paged book and looked for the page where he had read last time.
After several seconds' worth of searching, he finally found the page where hadn't finished reading.
Axel 2 materialized a slightly thick rectangular paper using his mana and inserted it on the center of the book at the page where he was reading it.
After the slightly thick rectangular paper made out of mana came in contact with the hundred thousand page book, the slightly thick rectangular paper bounced off the hundred thousand paged book as if there was an invisible barrier that repelled it.
I'm guessing that the author of the hundred thousand paged book not only concealed its size that would only reveal after mana was poured unto it but also added a magic spell that would repel any foreign object that came in contact with it except for some objects, maybe?
I'm not so sure about my guess and it looked like it didn't repel the hands of the person holding it and flipping its pages.
So I'm guessing that there were some conditions to trigger the effects of the invisible barrier that repelled mostly any foreign objects that came in contact with it.
Although it's good that I found out more features of the hundred thousand paged book, it still wasn't good enough to quell the frustration and anger of Axel 2 as he kept on slamming it on the floor and stomping on it repeatedly.
"Now, now. We still need to provide information for the dragon king so that he could easily eliminate the high-level monsters."
"Throwing out a tantrum just because of a book isn't the ideal choice to make in this dire situation. Letting out your temper wouldn't be beneficial for the both of us considering it can hinder your concentration and cloud your vision."
I told Axel 2 and reminded him about the purpose of reading the hundred thousand paged book.
"I'm not angry because of a d*mn book! I'm just letting my anger out on it because I can't beat the heck out of the author of this hundred thousand paged book!"
"Whoever the author of this book is, I'm throwing this hundred thousand paged book in front of his face and tear it into two!"
"You know what? I'm going to do it right now!"
After Axel 2 said that, he threw the hundred thousand paged book into the air, materialized a sword using his mana, and slash the book at the inside of the spine of the book.
The hundred thousand paged book was no longer containing a hundred thousand pages but instead, it contained fifty thousand pages due to Axel 2 cutting it in half.
There were now two pieces of fifty thousand paged books and Axel 2 handed the other part that contained the 50,001-100,000 page range.
I was shocked by the sudden turn of events especially when Axel 2 suddenly slashed the hundred paged book into two.
"Now you don't need to complain to me because of not being able to read it fast enough since the two of us will read it together."
Axel 2 said that to me after giving me the other part of the hundred paged book.
"Won't we be screwed by the author of this book after he found out that we tore it apart?", I asked Axel 2.
"The author of that d*mn book will screw us? More like we'll screw him! Say... Who is the author of this book?"
"Let me check."
After I replied that to Axel 2, I checked the back cover of the book and after I saw it, I was stunned.
"We're screwed!", I replied to Axel 2.
Axel 2 looked at me with a surprised face and it was followed by him asking me a question.
"Who's the author of this d*mn hundred paged book? No, make that two-volume fifty paged book."
"The Great Sage Of Knowledge"
"Sh*t!"
