Chapter 144 – Hair Drying

After Akari had gotten home from the talk with Ayame, she realized that Takei was currently in the shower.

Akihiko and Ayame left to go on a dinner date, which was a half-truth. The other reason was because they wanted Takei and Akari to have some intimate time at home by themselves.

While Takei was in the shower, Akari decided to browse through a conveniently placed marriage catalog that had everything anyone could need.

Switching perspectives, Takei was taking his time in the shower due to the fact that the warm water was so incredibly inviting.

It felt as if the water wouldn't ever let him leave due to how warm and relaxing it was.

Unluckily for the warm water trap, Takei's iron self-restraint helped him reign in that pleasure and made him exit the shower.

He decided not to dry his hair since it would eventually dry by itself.

Why waste energy doing something unnecessary? If it eventually dries, then I save energy and my hair is dry. It's a win-win!

Takei slipped on some comfortable clothes and went into the living room to see who was home.

He noticed that Akari was sitting on the couch flipping through a brochure.

Slowly walking over there with a slight pep in his step, Takei was happy to see Akari who had been gone all day.

"You're finally home," Takei sighed a breath of relief. "I missed you a lot, you know?"

Akari laughed at his clinginess that was not too different from her own clinginess. "I could say the same. I missed you a lot as well."

Takei stood behind her as he wrapped his arms around her slender body. "Where are my grandparents?"

Turning around to face him, Akari wrapped her arms around Takei in response.

"They went to have a dinner date for two," Akari explained. "That leaves the two of us home alone..."

Seeing how meek Akari was being towards him almost turned a switch on inside of Takei's brain.

Thankfully, the mental inhibitor that was a dense piece of the universe's strongest material was stopping him from moving forward.

"Hm?" Akari glanced at Takei's head. "Why is your hair still wet?"

Takei shrugged. "Because I didn't dry it?"

Without knowing that response was the wrong choice, Takei had inevitably sealed his fate.

"Sit down in front of the sofa please." Akari said, with a chilly tone behind her words. "It wouldn't be good if you got sick from not drying your hair properly, would it?"

It was only now that Takei realized how scary his girlfriend could be when he decided to skimp out on hygiene because he was lazy.

"Yes, ma'am!"

Doing as he was instructed, Takei sat down in front of the sofa in a ramrod-straight posture.

Akari got off of the sofa and returned quickly with a towel in hand.

"Please sit still so I can dry your hair. You have such nice and pretty hair that it would be a waste if you were to damage it."

She lightly scolded him about neglecting his naturally soft hair, which made Takei feel a sense of remorse for not taking care of it better.

He knew that Akari would tirelessly work on making sure that her hair was in perfect condition everyday, so he felt that his negligence was somehow disrespecting her effort.

"Ah, I'm sorry..."

"You don't have to be so glum. I'm not mad, okay? I just don't want you getting sick. I also want you to look good so that your self-confidence can improve."

"Well, you aren't wrong. That's definitely something that needs to improve."

Akari's logical reasoning was too rock solid for Takei to say anything back.

It was all too true that Takei had a weak self-esteem, so there was a need for him to improve on that area.

As he was mulling over that, Takei noticed that Akari had been very softly drying his hair.

She had been careful to not apply too much force to Takei's hair in order for nothing to be damaged.

The soft tender feel of Akari's fingers brushing through his hair made Takei feel a million times better.

"I think it's unfair that you have such soft hair even though you don't take care of it at all," Akari mumbled. "You're a cheat code!"

Well, I can't say anything about that.

"You're right about my hair being unnaturally soft even though I don't take care of it, but you're way out of my league when it comes to softness," Takei stated. "Your hard work and effort has obviously paid off. I can vouch for it firsthand. Your hair is the softest in the whole entire world!"

To prove his point, Takei picked up some locks of Akari's hair and carefully intertwined his fingers with them.

"Soft..." Takei muttered.

If her boyfriend was happily playing with her hair while saying it was soft, there was nothing else that Akari could say.

"What a cute guy," Akari giggled.
