After the four of them finished shopping for swimsuits, they decided to eat an early dinner since everyone was feeling a bit peckish from all the walking around.
"What should we go get then?" Takei asked the group.
Takei wasn't too picky with what he wanted to eat, so he didn't really care where they ended up going.
He also didn't really know what food places would be good for a double date, so he waited to listen to the professionals.
"How about we go to one of those new Korean barbecue places that just opened?" Hasebe spoke up. "They're having a lot of deals and specials right now for their grand opening."
"Heh... We have to go!" Akari immediately agreed.
"No objections from me," Ike added.
Looks like we have a winner.
"Shall we go then?" Takei prompted the group.
Once everyone was in favor of the plan, the group headed towards the new Korean barbecue place that had recently opened up nearby.
When the four of them got there, Takei was quite surprised at the exterior and the interior of the place.
Contrary to what he was expecting, this place was very modernized and had a futuristic/tech theme going on.
Many of the Korean barbecue places he had been to in the past were very old and traditional, so seeing a place that looks like it was from the future was a very nice sight to see.
"Oh, it looks like there's a long line..."
By "long line," Takei was not joking at all when he said that.
The line wrapped all around the building and onto the neighborhood down south.
If he had to guess, Takei would estimate about 100 people were in line currently.
"Ahahaha... Yeah, I forgot about this. Sorry guys," Hasebe apologized.
Akari shook her head and patted Hasebe on the back. "There's nothing to apologize for, you just didn't know that it would be this busy."
As they were about to leave due to the sheer length of the line, someone called out one of their names. "Takei! Is that you?"
When Takei turned around to address the voice, he immediately remembered who the person was. "Mrs. Takahashi?"
It had been a long time since he had seen this woman, but she still looked roughly the same.
To recap, Mrs. Takahashi was a patient of his father and was a good family friend of the Tanaka's.
"If you're looking to eat here, then I can get you in no sweat since I'm the owner of this fine establishment."
"Eh? You would do that?" Takei asked, surprised.
"I've been indebted to your family for a long time, so this is my way of paying off that debt. Come inside and order whatever you want, it's on the house!"
"A-Ah... Thank you!" Takei and the rest of his group bowed.
I always forget that my dad is a doctor sometimes due to how he acts around his family... Well whatever, it worked out in the end.
The four of them walked into the place like they were VIPs and sat down at a large circular table that had two stovetops.
"Please mark down whatever you would like to order," Mrs. Takahashi handed out paper menus. "I'll come back soon for the menus, but please take your time."
Once she left the room, the group scanned the menu for what they wanted to order.
"This type of meat looks really really really good!" Hasebe pointed at the menu with sparkles in her eyes.
"Please get two servings of that then," Ike added.
Takei had only been to Korean barbecue a handful of times before, but he still didn't know what stuff was the best to order. "Akari, can you order for the both of us?"
"Mhm, I have a pretty good idea of what you like," Akari nodded. "Just leave it to me!"
When their server returned, they handed her their menus and patiently waited for their meats to arrive.
In contrast to what they believed, the meats only took less than 10 minutes to arrive.
How can they have such speedy service when the business is this busy?!
Once all of the meats were laid out on the table, the two girls took charge and began carefully laying out the meats on the stovetops.
"I always make sure to evenly spread out the meat so they don't clump up," Akari mentioned to Takei.
"So that's how you achieve maximum flavor and tenderness... You're a culinary monster!" Takei stared at her in appreciation.
Once the first round of meats were fully cooked, Akari picked up a piece and blew on it to cool it down a bit. "Say ahhhh."
With the piece of meat dangling in front of Takei's mouth and Akari doing such a cute gesture, there was no other action that he wanted to take. "Ahhh..."
The tender meat entered his mouth and quickly broke apart due to its sheer fragile nature, which ended up releasing the delicious juices that were stuck inside the meat.
The more that Takei chewed, the more delicious the meat tasted.
"Akari, you truly have the hands of god," Takei happily praised his girlfriend. "Even a certain angry British chef would praise you!"
"Hehe, you're so kind," Akari blushed.
She leaned in with a flushed expression that seemed to indicate that she was in that type of mood, which made Takei feel the exact same.
Both of them leaned in and then...
"Hey..."
""!""
Hasebe looked at the two of them with a deadpan expression. "Please keep the flirting to a minimum. Ike just passed out from the extreme sugar overload."
She pointed towards Ike who was incapacitated and unconscious due to the idiot couple's love aura.
"Meat... good... Too much love... not good..." Ike mumbled.
When Takei and Akari realized what they were doing in public, the two of them froze and a crimson-red color dyed their skin an incredibly bright color.
""S-Sorry..."" The both of them meekly said in unison.
The rest of the dinner was eaten in an awkward air, but the food was good at the very least.
