116 CHAPTER 116: THREATENED

Hunter can see a familiar silhouette when he and Rizza entered the hotel restaurant. He is crossing his finger hoping that his instinct is wrong. Once they reached their designated table, he looked at the table near the glassy wall. The fudge! What is she doing here? He yelled in his thoughts.

"Hunter, are you okay? is there any problem?" Rizza asked when she saw Hunter's upset face.

"Nothing." he shook his head, "By the way, where's your father?" he redirected the topic.

"I believe he's on is way." Her dimples showed up.

"Oh okay." Hunter uttered but he gazed towards the woman at the table on his side. She's throwing dangerous glares at them. Hunter met her eyes. they've been staring at each other for a couple of minutes, then the woman averted her eyes. She is clearly looking at the woman's hand touching Hunter's arm. She's obviously mad. She took the bottle of wine and pour some on her glass and drunk it at once. Hunter raised a brow.

"This woman really!" his lips annoyingly twitch.

"Eh? Did you say something hunter?'' Rizza curiously looked at him.

"Ah nothing." He grinned.

"Oh... I thought I heard you said something." she picked up her phone, after a while, she gazed at the entrance, "Look, father is here!" then she raised her left hand. The old man saw them so he went directly at their table.

"I'm sorry I was late. I have to close a deal with an investor earlier so I had to extend for ten minutes. Have you been waiting for so long?" the old man asked.

"Don't worry Sir, we just arrived." Hunter stood to shake the old man's hand before they sat down. After they ordered, Rizza started to tell stories about her school. She's a graduating student for Bachelor of arts in Political Science.

"Please excuse me for a while, I just need to use the bathroom." Hunter politely excused himself when he saw the woman at the other table stood up. She's a little bit tipsy. Dang! Just how much did she drink? She easily gets drunk. She has zero tolerance for alcohol.

"Sure." The old man answered.

Hunter stride towards the comfort room and waited outside. He looked at his wristwatch while leaning on the wall, it's already past five minutes yet the woman hadn't come out yet. Did she possibly pass out? Hunter is worried. He is about to get inside when he finally saw the woman coming out while caressing her head.

She was about to pass through him when hunter held her arm. She halted. She glared at him when she turned around.

"Back off!" she yelped.

"Sophie what are you doing here? Are you following me?" hunter spoke coldly.

"Who do you think you are and Why should I even follow you? Do I even know that you and your woman is here? If I know you'd be here, then I shouldn't have come here!" She lied.

"You expect me to believe that? Sophie we are not strangers. We've known each other for so long and that reason of yours isn't convincing anymore. You should change your way of reasoning, it's too cliché."

"Huh! You're one to talk. Sorry, I forgot that you are Hunter, the mighty and perfect Hunter who knows it all. Sorry!" her sarcasm echoed in her voice.

"And you better go home, your totally drunk!" he commanded.

"Who said I'm drunk? And who are you to order me around huh? I will drink to my heart's content so don't ever stop me!"

"I'll call Caleb!" Hunter was about to dial Caleb's number when Sophie snatch his phone and threw it on the floor. it was totally broken and is beyond repair.

"Don't you dare call anyone! I have an appointment with someone tonight so will you just mind your own business?!"she yelled then she stomped her feet while going back to her table.

She took her phone out and dialed Curtis number. After a few minutes, Hunter saw Curtis entered the restaurant. Well, he doesn't want to care. it's good to know that Curtis came, he'll probably send her home after.

Hunter, Rizza and the old man continued to talk about some equipment that the old man wants to obtain for his business abroad. Their clients abroad have been pressuring the old man so he called out Hunter's help since he has a good eye for good battle equipment.

"Sophie, I'm sorry I have to go first. Father and I have an important appointment tomorrow and I need to catch our flight tonight." Curtis apologized.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for troubling you as well." She smiled at him heartily.

"Not a problem. You know I will always come if it is for you, right?"

"Ehm." Her smile reaches her ears and Curtis love it when he sees her smile. It is a very rare occasion to see Sophie smile since she always shows her strong side. She must really be drunk. Her drunkenness usually makes her fragile and vulnerable.

"But I am worried about you so I'll call my driver to send you home, okay?"

"Don't! Caleb will be here in a few minutes. He'll take me home for sure." she lied.

"Oh, is that so? Then that's a relief then." He raised his hand and messed her hair, "Be a good girl, okay?

"Ehm!" Sophie nodded and giggled like a child. Her chuckles reach Hunter's ears and that scene caught his eyes as well. He balled his fists while trying to stop himself. How he wants to punch someone right now. Curtis is definitely taking advantage of her drunk state.

Sophie never softens to anyone, not even to him when they were in a relationship. She was always showing her strong side. And the way she giggles right now only happens once in a blue moon. Dang! He is angry. But to his surprise, Curtis stood up and exited the restaurant. Did he just leave her like that? isn't he going to send her home? he was annoyed.

Sophie felt empty when Curtis left. The truth is they don't have any appointment tonight. She lied to hunter because she doesn't want to be embarrass. She was definitely there to spy.

Earlier, Aisha was teasing her about what happened last night at hunter's shop. She even told her the exact address to where Hunter and Rizza would be meeting. She kept denying it but after a while, she reasoned that she will be seeing Curtis today. Unknown to everyone including Aisha, Sophie went to where Hunter and Rizza would be meeting. And true enough, the two were happily together.

It hurts her. she despises hunter and she doesn't want to see him at all but last night, when she saw Rizza, she suddenly felt insecure. That small woman can melt any man's heart. She's cute and adorable, she must admit that and her dimples are her greatest asset. Dang! That woman is beautiful and she felt threatened.

Ah! She drunk two bottles of wine. She knew her limitations. She knew that she can't manage one bottle but to her disappointment, she didn't know that she was able to finish two bottles in a row. Now she can't even drive back home. she silently cursed. She took her phone and was supposed to call a cab but her phone is totally dead.

"The fudge! Why am I having a bad day?!" she stomped her feet. Then she looks at hunter who was busily talking to the woman. ah! She was even annoyed to see them smiling at each other. Why did she even go there? how stupid of her! if only she knew she'd be upset like this then she should have not come at all! she wants to cry but she stopped her tears.

She stood up and tried to walk normally. She wants to go home. she'll just get a taxi and come back tomorrow to get her car. Or if not, she can sleep in her car. Her heart is in too much pain to take another heartbreak by looking at the two.

Unknown to her, Hunter has been watching her secretly and was deeply worried about her.

Sophie tried so hard to walk normally until she reaches the exit. Slowly, she strides to the outdoor garage where she parks her car. But before she even reaches her car, tears forced their way out and freely flowed down to her cheek. She sat on her knees allowing her heart to release every pain that she's been hiding for such a long time.

Pain. heartaches. Disappointments. Jealousy. Regrets. She's been bottling everything since the day they separated ways. Seems like her heart is finally full. Raindrops started to fall but she doesn't care. It's okay. the sky seems to be mourning with her. then a heavy rain poured out. her off-shoulder red dress drench in rain. Her bun hair loosed some strands and is now lying on her bare shoulder. She's cold. She stood up but staggered backwards.

She thought she would fall but she felt a strong hand that held her waist. She jerked in surprise. The man was carrying an umbrella. She spun around wishing to apologize but her eyes widened when she saw the person holding her.

"Hunter?!" she helplessly yelped.
