269 CHAPTER 269: PLEASE, DON'sT LEAVE

It was too painful to behold. The promise he made, the man-to-man deal and the pledge to let go if not chosen, everything is unbearable.

Ethan, due to his frustration, went directly to the hotel's drinking hub. Then he cued the bartender for a drink. He wanted to drain all his pain away. He couldn't watch the two anymore and to be honest, he was afraid to see how the woman responds to Clement's proposal. Though a part of him believes that the woman loves him too, but he was scared to know what will unfold next. So he chose to leave the place and not to witness how it all ends.

So that was the reason why Alex had been acting strange earlier.

The woman has been acting weird as if she was trying to hide something from him. And when he learnt from Yssable, Miracle's nanny, that Alex stayed after her work, he silently followed her.

But she ended up meeting with Clement!

Why did she not mention about their meeting while they were together the whole day? Why the need to hide it? He felt a throbbing heartache within him but he chose to stay to see what will happen next. He was also thinking about the deal he made with Clement, so he was sure that the guy is up to something.

He is a man, so when he saw the woman and the man stood up and went to the center aisle, dancing with the rhythm of the music, he kinda knew what's coming next but he chose to shrug off that thought, hoping it won't happen.

"Will you marry me?" He saw Clement knelt down with a ring in his hand.

The woman was so shocked and it was very visible in her eyes. The people were staring at them too. Seems like the universe stopped for a minute or so. Ethan's world stopped spinning as well.

He can see how speechless Alex was and seemingly doesn't know what to do. But will she ever shame the man who saved her from near death? Will she turn down the man's offer? He's not sure either.

He stood up and glanced at the woman for a few minutes. She looked back, stupefied!

Then Ethan left the place and went downstairs where he could drain all his pain and disappointments.

His been drinking some liquor for an hour now since the wine seemingly couldn't knock him down. He looks miserable as tears gush out from his eyes.

It was already 11pm when Alex reach her apartment and she was about to lay down on her bed when her phone ringed. She glance to see the caller i.d. why is max calling her at this hour? She was puzzled but she answered it anyway.

"Yes?" She lazily responded.

"Miss Alex, I'm sorry for disturbing you at this hour but Sir Ethan...."

"Did something bad happened to him?" She immediately interrupted the man as she stood up from her bed.

"the bartender called me and said that Sir Ethan is at the drinking hub. He seemed so drunk and was knocked down. Unfortunately, I am out of town right now so I can't fetch him. Can you go and see him?"

"Not a problem... I'm on my way!"

"Thank you Miss Alex."

"No, thank you." She smiled before hanging up.

Alex therefore took her coat and run outside her apartment. Her worry seems to be deeper than her fear right now so she took a cab and dash back to the hotel as quickly as possible.

After a few minutes, she arrived at the winery section but she was a bit surprise to see a familiar woman gently caressing the man's back. She creased her brow and strides to where the man is.

"Excuse me.'' She raised her brow when the other woman instantly spun around to face her. ''I appreciate if you leave the somber man alone. I'll take it from here." Alex seriously voiced while standing behind them.

"Miss Miran!" Manager Sheila exclaimed mockingly. "You better go home because Mr. Williams asked me to keep him company for tonight." She smirked meaningfully.

"I said I'll take it from here!" Her tone was murderous.

"Are you threatening me, Miss Miran?" The manager stood up raising her brow while folding her arms across her chest.

"Not because your not under my jurisdiction anymore doesn't mean you are above me already...."

"Luckily I am." Alex interrupted her. " I'm his secretary and his personal assistant as well. So I am above you in every way. So if you may excuse me, I would like to take him to his quarters."

"You wench! How dare you speak to me like that!" She was about to slap the woman but she caught her arm.

Her tight grip... Its hurting the manager.

"Woman... Don't let me repeat myself again. Or else, you'll never want to see what will happen next." Her lip twitched, emitting an inauspicious temperament.

Dang! She's too strong! Manager Sheila irks in pain so Alex loose her grip and walk pass through her.

"Miss Miran, don't you think your overstepping your role as a secretary and a personal assistant? Seeing you with that man who knelt down in front of you... And now with Sir Ethan... do they know that your playing a two-faced persona, fooling high-ranking men just to elevate your status? Does your fiancee knew about Sir Ethan?" the manager was trying to provoke her.

Alex jerked for a moment. So she was there too and she saw everything...? She should also know what happened next after that---- if she stayed long.

"Sheila..." Her annoyance made her call the woman with her bare name. " I believe my personal life isn't an open book. So whatever I do with it, then your out of it." She glared at her.

"Tsk!" The manager scoffed despisingly.

"Ethan..." The woman shook him since he was somehow unconscious. "Ethan... Wake up. It's time to go home." She muttered, however, Ethan isn't responding.

The manager who was watching everything took a photo of her silently before leaving. Then she smirked as if she was planning something evil.

Meanwhile, Alex tried shaking the man once again. Slowly, he lifted his head to confirm who was speaking. He seemingly heard Aisha's voice and thought that he must be dreaming.

"Aisha?" He whispered lightly. His tears seemingly wanted to gush out from his eyes. His eyes were both bloodshot red. Has he been crying?

Alex raised her brow upon hearing the name he just mentioned. Her heart suddenly felt a sting. Not sure if she was hurt to hear another woman's name coming out from his mouth.

"Aisha...I miss you so much!" The man exclaimed and hug the woman tightly.

Alex couldn't say a word. The man's embrace was filled with love and longingness and she obviously envies whoever the man misses badly.

"I miss you..." He kept repeating those words. She was feeling a bit of pain throbbing within her but she chose to stand still as she stroke the desperate man's hair. Then she hugged him back with a wrecking heart.

"Ethan... Let's go home." She muttered when she broke away. Then slowly helped the man stood up.

She assisted him since he was too drunk to walk by himself. He can't even walk straightly. ah! He is so damn heavy!

"What are you thinking drinking too much when you can't even handle yourself!" She scolded him as soon as they reach the man's hotel suite.

she laid him on his bed and was about to stand up when the man suddenly grabbed her arm. His action made the woman land on top of him.

"Aisha.. Please... Don't go. Please don't leave me... Please stay..." He has his eyes closed while speaking. Guess he was too sleepy to open his eyes.

"Ethan... I need to go." She whispered.
