268 CHAPTER 268: THE PROPOSAL

She's afraid she'll get use to the princess treatment.

Since the day Alex agreed to open the door to her heart for Ethan, the man made sure to assign someone over Miracle. Someone to take care of her while her mom is away. Also, being fetch by an expensive car everyday had instill fear and jealousy towards her old bullies. Now the parents at her school encouraged their children to befriend her no matter what.

But seems like Miracle knew what's on their thoughts therefore, she chose to stay alone just like before. She doesn't want to have fake friends who befriend her just because of her status.

'' Eh? Tomorrow night? Why is that?'' Alex asked Clement when he called her asking if she's busy tomorrow night.

'' I'll be in the City tomorrow and I hope to see you at 9pm at First Estrella Hotel.'' Clement explained. '' Can we have dinner tomorrow night?''

Alex was thinking. Her work will end at 8pm and Miracle have someone to look after her whenever she's out working or what not. So seeing the man wouldn't be a problem. She might as well clarify whatever relationship they have with Clement.

'' Okay, I'll see you then.'' She agreed.

'' You can also bring Miracle if you want.'' The man proposed.

'' No, it's okay. Someone is watching over her anyway.''

'' Oh, Okay.'' Clement uttered thinking that it was their old landlady. '' See you tomorrow then.'' The man voiced before disconnecting the call.

'' What's the problem?'' The woman suddenly jerked when she heard the man's voice. Then she spun around to see the man creasing his brow in question.

'' What's with the deep sigh?'' The man furthered.

'' Ehm,nothing. How long have you been standing there?'' She inquired.

'' I just came in when I saw your disturbing sigh.''

The woman faked a smile. '' Then how did the meeting went?'' She change the topic.

'' O-kay?'' He raised his brow as if he was not sure.

The woman leered. '' Want coffee?'' She offered since she knew that the meeting didn't go well.

'' I sure do need that a lot, hun.'' He suddenly smooch the woman quickly before going back to his table.

As for Alex, she went to get him a cup of coffee while thinking whether to tell him about Clement or not.

''Do you have any work after 8pm tomorrow?'' She suddenly asked as soon as she laid the coffee on his table.

Ethan thought for a while before answering. '' You tell me, you have my schedule for the week, right?''

'' Yeah. But I thought you might have any work outside your schedule.'' She grin.

'' I don't have any special things to do after work tomorrow. Why? Do you want to go somewhere?''

'' N-no... That's not what I mean. I just want to know since I need to do something after.'' She fake a smile.

Ethan creased his brow suspiciously. '' Where are you going? Do you want me to come with you?''

''No! It's not necessary at all. I'll only be seeing an old friend before going home.'' She smiled to wave any suspicions there might be.

'' Oh, okay.'' He smiled back but deep inside him, he knew that something is up.

The next day, Miracle was at Ethan's office doing something. She seems to be writing something in a card for someone. Alex was not around that time since Ethan needs her to see Ms. Camp for the revisioning of their proposal at one of their branch somewhere down the city. So when Mira came over, she only saw Ethan reviewing some documents.

Her mother told her not to disturb the man once she sees him doing something, so that's what she did. She went to the couch near her mother's table and took her art material and started drafting something.

After signing some documents, Ethan lifted his head to relax a bit. Then his eyes caught the little girl writing and crafting something. So he stood up and went beside her.

'' What are you doing?'' He asked after sitting beside the child.

'' I'm writing a letter for my friend. But this time, I want to create my own envelope.'' She replied still her eyes on the paper.

'' Your friend?''

'' Yes. The one I told you before? Grandpa Sy. He must be upset cause I didn't send him a letter for three weeks now.''

'' Oh, That's definitely upsetting if you use to send a letter every week. He might be worried thinking that something bad happened to you.'' Ethan replied.

'' But he's not worried about me since he said that I am a strong girl.'' She smiled. '' He even told me not to be a good girl so I could have some friends.''

''Then that's good.'' He caress the child's hair. '' So how did you meet this first friend of yours?'' He furthered.

'' Ah, grandpa Sy has been in jail for a long time now. I met him when we had an outdoor symposium at school a few months ago. The school wants us to see what becomes a man or woman who doesn't listen and obey the country's institution, so we went to NPC and waited for some bearded guys to show up. They were a bit scary at first but once you get to talk to them, you'll see they are kind.'' She smiled.

'' You went to NPC?'' The man raised her brow. '' And they let you see the prisoners there?'' Ethan furthered. Could schools do those stuffs nowadsys? ah, he couldn't believe it!

'' Ehm!'' She exclaimed. '' Their park is very beautiful and the people inside are kind too.'' She innocently replied.

Ethan suddenly stared at the child. The prisoners must have been briefed beforehand that's why Mira said that they were good people. But still, he doesn't think that a child like Mira should enter any prison's premise for their own safety as well.

'' And you met your friend during that time?'' He asked.

'' Ehm.'' She nodded. ''But he is not actually playing with anyone that time. I just saw him under a tree sleeping alone. So I went to where he was sleeping.''

'' You did that alone?'' Ethan suddeny felt unease. Her braveness sometimes is outside the box just like her mother! ''Aren't you afraid that he might hurt you?''

The child suddeny looked at him, eyes filled with wonderment. '' he can't hurt me anyway because there are a lot of police officers everywhere. Besides, I think grandpa Sy doesn't have any friends just like me.''

''So he ask you to be his friend?''

''No...'' she smirk. '' I did. I was the one who asked him.''

''What?!''his face was full of question.

'' Don't worry daddy, grandpa Sy is kind. He will never hurt me.' In fact, I am his only friend too.'' She smiled the widest.

'' Well, as long as you said so.'' Ethan uttered but deep inside his mind, he is now planning to talk to the school board about not letting kids visit any prison anymore. That's just too dangerous for little kids. Also, isn't it too early for them to experience such thing as well?ah! It's not just right. He thought.

As soon as her shift ended, she asked Mira's caretaker to go home first since she needed to go somewhere. The woman understood what she meant so they went ahead.

As soon as they left the hotel premises, Aisha went to see Clement since he came early. He did reserve a table at the viewdeck... and to be honest, it was the place she first saw Ethan.
