271 CHAPTER 271: UNEXPECTED VISITOR 1

The man immediately cheered up as soon as he heard what the woman has said. She rejected Clement! Ah! How happy he is at the moment! "Who cares about your silly jokes! I'm going home!" She yelled then pulled her arm from his grip.

Alex was able to open the door but he caught her again and instantly kissed the rampaging woman.

She went speechless and she must admit that she misses how he passionately kisses her every time. The chills she feels whenever his lips brushed against hers... those butterflies on her stomach... the mix emotions... she wants all of them. And thinking about being with someone else aside from this man sent shivers all over her body.

Then she recalled what happened between her and Clement last night.

She could see how the man's eyes turned sharply and shadily but beamed after. She's not sure if he was faking it but she knew how painful it must be.

During Clements proposal, she was actually considering all the man's efforts in saving her and mira a few years ago. There was a lot of complications that time but he stayed beside her. His presence may not be with her physically but his care and support was present through mr. And Mrs. Kersey, who treated her like their real daughter. Without them, she's probably dead and who knows what life awaits her beloved Miracle if that happens.

When the man knelt down with the ring in his hands, she suddenly became tongue-tied. But she was able to make her resolved when she saw Ethan walked away like that. That tight spot made her realized that she had greatly fallen in love with the man in a very short time. She couldn't understand how she fell in love and when did it happen since she just met the great man lately. Though she is sure of something--- Ethan and her were walking the same path, together.

"Clement, can we talk?" The woman smiled at him.

After a minute or so, Clement faked a smile then stood up. Then he held her waist and walked back to their table.

"Sure. I love too." He sternly uttered.

As soon as they reach their table, Alex stared at the man seriously. Then heaved a heavy sigh.

"Clement, I'm sorry... I can't accept your proposal." She voiced.

The man's face glowered in frustration.

"Is it because of him?" He probed directly. Alex jerked a little but composed herself after.

"I-It's not about him... But I just want to be true to you and to myself as well. Clement, I like you and I really do. However, my feelings for you can't progress any further. I love you but only as a friend. I'm truly sorry." She averted her eyes on the glass of wine that she was holding.

"Alex..." He clenched his fist. "What do I have to do for you to see me as a man loving you and not just a mere friend?"

Alex shook her head. "Clement, I tried, believe me... But then, I am really considering you as my brother and my friend. Nothing more, nothing less." She explained.

"What did he do? What did you see in him that you didn't see in me?" He seemed distressed. "Is it his money? His fame? What?!" He nearly yelled but he was trying to control his voice. However, his agitation is very evident on his face. "You can just tell me the reason directly if you wanted to rise above others cause I can definitely do that too!"

"Clement!" Alex couldn't believe that the man was thinking such things towards her. He, of all people, must know her very well. She had never aimed for fame nor wealth... Ever!

"Alex!" He squashed. "Think about this again. Maybe your just perturbed because of my sudden proposal, but please think about it carefully." He voiced then stood up dolefully. He's ready to leave but before he even take one step, he turned to her one more time.

"And don't ever associate yourself with that man again. if possible, avoid him because you will only hurt yourself. So stop it while you can." He uttered meaningfully before he left the woman.

Alex didn't know what he meant by his words. Seems like there was a hidden meaning on it but she doesn't have the interest to decipher it this time. Maybe he was just thinking about how people perceives her if her relationship with Ethan gets exposed. The risks... She knew everything about it as well, but she will just cross the bridge when she gets there.

She knew Clement was in pain due to the rejection. but what will she do, she needs to tell him the truth before it gets harder to break his heart. It's better to break it early than to prolong the agony.

She laid her back on the comfy chair as she looks at the bright moon up the sky. It was very beautiful and the people are obviously enjoying the night but she has this sullen atmosphere around her. Probably because Clement was one of the few people whom she doesn't want to hurt nor sees him gets hurt. Then she exhaled.

"I'm going home...." She muttered as soon as Ethan freed her lips.

"Eh? Isn't it enough?" He teased. But the woman hit his side.

"I have to go home Sir Ethan since this woman needs to prepare herself for work later." She gallingly voiced.

"Well, I won't mind if you want to use my shirt." He smirked meaningfully. "You may not go out today. I'll let you work inside the whole day. just don't go home."

Alex made a face. "That I cannot do your majesty. This woman has a daughter whom she wants to see this morning."

"Ah, about that... I won't also mind if you and miracle wants to stay with me in this house. I'll be more than happy to accommodate my queen and my princess." He beamed as he cupped the woman in his arms.

"Ethan." The woman adversely stood still.

"Alex, I understand if your not yet ready for that. But I want to let you know how serious I am to keep you and Mira by my side. And I'm willing to wait however long it is." He uttered with sincerity.

The woman playfully raised her brow but she smiled anyway. How did she ever ended up loving this man? And who would have thought that this rumored cold blooded and heartless man will love and care for her this way?

"I need to go home now. Because, though Mira manages herself independently, she still has a baby side on her that wants to see me before she leaves for school." She smiled.

"Ah, speaking of her, I miss that little gal already. Please tell her to come and visit me later." Then he pecked her lips before releasing the woman from his embrace.

"That I'm not sure since she is preparing for the national competition for next week." She voiced before opening the door. She was about to say more when she suddenly paused in surprise. She was rooted to where she was standing. Someone is staring at her outside the door!

That moment, Ethan was smiling when he heard that his little princess was participating in competitions. Looks like she has the guts and confidence which Eli didn't had. However, the smiles on his face faded when he saw someone outside the door. both Alex and Ethan gasped in fright. He looks like he's been waiting for who knows how long!

He was looking at them shadily.
