After lunch, we both go back to work. It must be hard for Buford to be a lawyer during the day and part of the council protecting humans daily, sound exhausting.
Deciding I will do whatever needed on my part to help, as I look into the office at all the unaware humans. Sounds like my family is going to grow, and I'm secretly happy about it.
Next thing you know I see Remey coming towards me "Afternoon shah, Is Buford in"
Oh, here I go swooning over that sexy half-smirk "He is, I'll let him know your here"
A few seconds later he′s in his office. Looking into the office of both the sexiest men alive, they couldn't be more different. Buford is a bit humble, knowing he is handsome but doesn't flaunt it or use it to his advantage, very caring and sweet, and smart.
Then we have Remey, he flaunts his good looks, openly flirts and seems to have an edge to him, and seems a bit arrogant. They both make me blush, and yet only one has asked me out.
About an hour later, I go change into my black shorts, and a crimson tank top, brushing through my hair again and putting my tennis shoes on. It's time to leave for the day, as I walk back to my desk to see the guys come out of the office looking a little less friendly than the day before.
Remey smile and comes up to me "Are you ready to go?"
Buford looks at me with a shocked and maybe a disapproving glance, but then changes into his normal nice self "I wasn't aware you two knew each other" looking at Remey and I.
"Oh we ran into each other at a bar Saturday night after meeting her here, I asked her out after getting my butt kicked in pool, a very attractive skill" Remey replies with a wink.
I shyly look at Buford "Is everything ok? Is there anything else before we leave for the day?"
Buford looks at me for with a straight look "No everything is good, enjoy your date" and walks back into his office. With a mixture of guilt and excitement, we head out.
He brings me to the French Quarter, strolling around the art by the park, watch the street dancers and random robot or golden statues on the corners, with casual conversation, asking each other little questions about our lives.
He is a single child of a semi wealthy family, his parents passed away a few years ago, he traveled to a lot of places for work and recently moved to the city. He is a private investigator and owns his own company, opening his office here in a few months. He says that's why he came to Buford to offer his services and knowing they grew up around each other, that he wouldn't say no.
Before you know it, it gets late, and he offers to walk me home. Were on the steps to my apartment now, and that weird sense comes back, the one where I feel like something terrible is going to happen. Hyper alert, and wide-eyed, I look at Remey "Something doesn't seem right"
He looks around "Do you want me to walk you inside?" shaking my head yes and still being extra aware of my surroundings, we walk inside.
Stopping before we reach my apartment, noticing the door is open the same time he does. He tells me to stay in the hallway, while he goes inside. He comes back a few minutes later shaking his head and says it's ok to come inside.
I walk in to see that my place has been completely torn apart, couch's ripped open, tv smashed, kitchen items strewed all on the floor, my bedroom looks similar, with a shaky breath I collapse on the ground crying. Who would do something like this? Why me, what were they looking for?
Remey walks over to me without touching me "I′m sorry, it looks like someone was looking for something, or someone" Looking at me.
"I don't know what they would be looking for, I have nothing of value except the tv, everything is second hand, no jewelry, and no one but myself lives here" Still shaking my head and crying "I need to call the cops I guess"
He stood quickly "If nothing is missing, there's no point really, maybe you should come back to my place and we can figure out what to do" Looking at him in shock.
"Thank you, but I don't think that would be a good idea on our first date and all, I'll call my friend Zaline, she will know what to do"
