6 The Family Meeting

"Grandfather do you have the medical records for my supposed attempted suicide? If not..." Rory pulled her phone out of her pocket. "I can call my doctor to explain it."

Rory made sure to bring up her doctor just in case Victor tried to prevent her from continuing on. After all, did they really think they could send her to a mental center? She would definitely go crazy on all of them before they are able to drag her to a place like that.

Victor Hynes looked at her deeply before lifting up a hand. "Bring in the lawyer."

An uncle that Rory knew as Harris Hynes got up and walked toward a door in the back. She heard a hushed whisper of you can come in now and then two pairs of foot steps made their way back to the main living room.

One was of course Rory Hynes while the other was a lawyer dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase. Seeing his face, Rory's eyebrows hit the skies, however she quickly hid the reaction covering it up with a light smile. To bring in someone like him over a family dispute? If there is anyone crazy here it is definitely the Hynes.

The lawyer was Bai Lou Zhang, a world renown lawyer who won thousands of famous cases across the world. He could instill fear in anyone's heart. The Hynes definitely came prepared this time, luckily so did she.

"The medical records for Rory Hynes?" Straight to the point, Victor Hynes automatically questioned Bai Lou Zhang.

"Yes, they are right here." Bai Lou Zhang went to a table in the room and set down his briefcase. He then opened it and took out a light brown folder. Without delay he handed it to Victor before standing at the chair side.

"Now." Victor looked back at Rory. "What are you trying to prove."

"In the medical record you will see the description for the cuts. One cut, more likely the first cut, was made on my left arm. It was a deeper cut than the second one and the line was more stable. Any doctor would tell you that the person who delivered that cut would have to be right handed."

The room went quiet while Victor looked at the medical records. His face became a bit complicated when he realized that Rory was telling the truth.

"This wasn't a suicide, it was an attempted murder. Someone made an attack on the Hynes family" The coldness threaded in the words made everyone stiffen up.

In their minds they didn't care at all about a waste like Rory being killed, nevertheless he was a Hynes. If they said their true thoughts they would definitely get a dissatisfied look from Victor Hynes.

"That's impossible!" A shrill voice yelled out with conviction. The girl from earlier angrily stood up and pointed at Rory. "He is lying! I am the one who found him that day and I didn't see anyone leaving his room when I went there. Check the cameras! If no one went into his room how did someone try to kill him! Also, he is probably lying about being left handed as well!"

"Be quiet Lily!" The woman cladded in make up gave Victor a fearful glance. A breathe of relief left her body when she saw that he was still looking at the medical records and not paying attention to her daughter.

"But, mother if we let Rory leave now he might really kill himself. As his cousin I can't let that happen!"

Rory turned her head toward Lily lazily. Her lips were slightly curled up giving Lily a sense of foreboding "I can prove I am left handed easily, just give me a piece of paper."She then stretched out her hand accepting the challenge.

Every move was done elegantly and with complete control. Not at all like how they remembered Rory. No one could see any hesitation in his actions at all. The feeling that they had already lost this battle weighed on their hearts. Maybe someone really did try to kill Rory...

Noticing that no one was willing to offer a piece of paper she closed her hand and retracted it. "I also agree that the cameras need to be checked. We definitely cannot let someone insult our family in this kind of way!"

As if she was relied up as well, Rory stood up along with Lily. Her face looked completely sincere as did her tone, however Lily couldn't shake off the feeling that was being teased.

"I will arrange for Sovereignty college to send in the camera image right away. However, that school doesn't abide well, therefore it might take a while."Harris wanted to get revenge for his daughter in Wife, but his hands were tied here. Victor wasn't giving a clue to how he felt about the situation and he definitely wouldn't risk his shares for a stupid act like this.

The medical folder in Victor's hands shut closed. "This matter will be postponed until all evidence is looked through. Thank you Bai Lou Zhang for coming, but we won't need your services now." Victor handed the folder back to Bai Lou Zhang before turning his attention back to Rory.

"As for you. Even though you might have been attacked it doesn't change the shame you brought on this family in the past. You will not be sent to a mental hospital, however for the time being all funds from the Hynes family is not available to you." His sharp eyes looked at her mother. "And when I say all. I mean all. Rory also will immediately return back to sovereignty college."

Mrs. Hynes looked dissatisfied, but nothing could be done now. This already turned out a lot better than she expected.Her little baby was really growing up.

"I understand." Rory nodded her head slightly and didn't put up an argument. She preferred using her own money anyway. Money was power and the money supplier had power over any person who needs it.

Victor Hynes: "This family meeting is done."
