People started to stand up and leave, not bothering to talk anymore. It reflected how exactly the family really felt about each other. Cold. This entire interaction was only about money and power, nothing else.

Some went to talk to Victor on the pretense of family, however in Rory's eyes it looked forced. Her eyebrows crinkled together observing the scene.

"Let's go dear." Her mother stood up from her chair drawing Rory's attention.

Rory's eyebrows smoothed out when she looked down on her mom. Even though the changes weren't automatic one could tell that a lot of her mother's stress had been relieved after the meeting.

"Sure let's go."

Together they walked outside, however a malevolent feeling drew Rory's attention. Her eyes casually swept the place before landing on Lily. The girl's entire body was stiff and taunt as if at any moment she would be ready to fight.

Whatever the issue was between her and the previous Rory, it obviously wasn't simple. Rory turned away from the girl, but kept her guard up until they left the room. If the last few days taught her anything it was that she needed to learn some physical fighting skills.

When she was in love with Luke, he always pressed on her that woman should be weak and that he would protect her. She was blindly in love and craved all attention he gave. It was really pathetic. She was no better than an animal waiting for the slaughter.

Her eyes froze over and coldness ran through her body. "Mom wait for me in the limousine."

Mrs. Hynes looked up only to be shocked stiff seeing the coldness in her daughter's eyes.

"Is everything ok? If it's about your funds being cut off I can try to find a way to sneak you some." Her mom whispered.

"No you don't need to risk yourself like that I can handle it. I just need a moment alone right now."

Her mom looked at her in indecision for a moment, but after seeing the resilience in her eyes she left for the limo.

Rory stood still and looked up at the sky. She felt tears threatening to come, therefore she quickly pinched herself. Replacing the pain in her heart for physical pain. She could at least take that without completely falling apart.

Every time she thought about Luke uncontrollable rage would flow through her body. She wanted to kill him so much that her heart, brain, and soul hurt when she thought about him still being alive. However, she knew the reality of the world.

She was nothing now. A small little ant that Luke could crush at any moment. He held control over one of the strongest technology businesses now and all of her designs for the future. Everything she worked her entire life for was his.

No matter, Rory couldn't spend her life engulfed by hatred. She would return what's due, but wouldn't destroy herself in the process.

Rory repeated the thought over and over in her mind, pushing back the dark thoughts from before.

Finally, she took a step forward.

....

When they left the house, Rory was able to relax some. She wasn't worried at all about the Hynes plot as she had already blocked off any loose ends.

Before even going to the house, she had messed with the tapes showing the hallway leading to her room.

Thankfully, it was all digital, therefore she hacked in and put another image of a man walking down the same hallway over the old image.

She then blurred out the man so that no one would be able to pick up on what he looked like. Not only would it tie up loose ends, but it also created a smoke screen over her own change.

With a good enough tech person, one could find out if a image was changed, however this way they wouldn't know how much it was altered. It could be that someone added a fake image or it could be that someone blurred out the old image trying to cover up the attacker.

The limo reached their house finally after a stressful day.

Rory glared at the old terrifying building. For her mom she would tough out one more night in this creepy house. They had already made plans that tomorrow she would be heading to Sovereignty College.

Rory and her mom resided in a quiet area in Charlestown, Boston USA. The piece of real estate had been apart of the Hynes family for years now.

Her mom never liked it much, however from Rory's research she learned that her father had put a lot of money in remodeling the house so they could live there. He love history and felt like it was the perfect place to raise a family. After he died, her mom was never able to leave it behind.

Mrs. Hynes walked inside while taking off her scarf. "Are you hungry? Why don't you go upstairs to your room, I'll prepare us something. You liked to stay inside of your room so much in the past I'm sure you missed it."

"No need, I can help you cook." Rory's heart started to hurt when a realization came upon her. Walking out of the house she was so caught up in her own world that she didn't pay attention to their surroundings.

Inside of the house, the amount of staff they had was zero to none. Only one medical doctor came in every once in a while in case of a medical emergency, but that was it. Which would mean that all of the work around the huge house was being done by Mrs. Hynes.

"Really?" Mrs. Hynes was again shocked by the weird change that went over her daughter.

"Of course! What are we cooking?"

Rory knew a few hundreds of different recipes. When her mother fell into depression in her past life she had to learn in order to keep both of them alive.

"I was thinking pasta for tonight." Her mother was very cheerful as she entered the house making Rory smile to herself softly.

Her mother probably did everything because of her 'condition', therefore she ,now as her daughter, owed her a lot.

Right now she couldn't give her everything, but in the future she will make sure that not even the Hynes family would pick a fight with them easily. As for maids, once she got her hands on some materials she should be able to create a substitute quick enough.
