[KYLE POV]
I had been sitting on the bed tracking down my mate's prey when I heard the loud angry voice start to come through the phone Jacy was holding. I heard the man named Ezekiel yell at Jacy and ask her if she was OK. He sounded as worried as any brother ever did. And apparently, Jacy's nickname for Ezekiel was EZ. I would have to remember that.
Under normal circumstances I would have stepped in and stopped someone from yelling at my mate like that, but there were a few reasons I didn't. One was because of what he was saying to her. He was clearly worried about her and was telling her that she should have called him sooner. Honestly I even mouthed those words to her. She didn't like that very much and ended up mouthing the words 'shut up' back at me.
Another reason why I didn't interrupt her was that I knew that, for whatever reason, Ezekiel wasn't against my relationship with Jacy. He actually seemed to support it even before I met the man.
And lastly, I didn't interrupt because that tiny little man actually scared me. I know he is just a human and all, but there's something about him that just scares the shit out of me. Maybe it's because of the way he acts. Maybe it's the way he just seemed to know things without me truly needing to tell him. I don't know what it was, but still, he scared the shit out of me.
I did like it at the end of the call where Ezekiel told Jacy that I was a good guy that she needed to accept me. I was glad that I had him on my side. I don't know what I did to get him on my side but the fact that he actually was made me feel that much better.
There was also a point where Ezekiel hung up on Jacy because he was too emotional. At that point he texted her. I didn't see those messages but I hoped they were still pushing her to accept fate and move on.
I had been doing my best to listen to the conversation and still work, which I was managing just fine. I had brought up all the closed circuit security camera footage from the time I showed up at that hell hole of a house. I was using a circle net to try and track the son of a bitch down.
It was slow going since I only had the one computer that Jacy had brought with her and the computer's quality was not that great. I desperately wanted to be back in my office with a larger search capacity. Now that Jacy and Ezekiel were off the phone, maybe I could convince him to help out some more. It might provide him with the opportunity to cool his head while still being useful to the sister he had just yelled at.
It was worth a shot at least.
I opened a secure chat and connected to his computer back at his family's estate. It wasn't the seamless connection I would have wanted, Ezekiel would have been able to trace it in no time at all. However, since I was sending a message directly to him he didn't need to trace it at all.

KD- Hello EZ
EZ- So, did J ask you to talk to me? ????
KD- No, I have a request that I wanted
to ask for your help with.
EZ- Really? And what's that? ???? ???? ????
KD- Well, I am sure you know how
utterly pathetic Jacy's computer is.
EZ- Don't get me started. I have been
try to get her to replace that thing. ???? ????
KD- Yeah, well, the bounty she is after
managed to run away during the chaos
of yesterday. I am trying scan CCTV
footage for him but I am having trouble
with this equipment. Do you mind
lending me a hand?
EZ- You're quite trusting for someone
who doesn't even know me. ???? ????
KD- Jacy knows you and trusts you
that's good enough for me. Will
you help?
EZ- Yeah, I will help. Send me what
you've got. ???????? ???????? ????????
KD- Thanks Ezekiel.
EZ- Just call me EZ! ????
KD- I was wondering about that
nickname Jacy had for you.
EZ- Oh honey, she didn't give me that
nickname. I gave myself that name
because I am easy! ???? ???? ????
KD- Well, I guess that's good to know.
Thank you for the help.
EZ- No worries. I will get it all to you
as soon as I can. ???? ???? ???? ????

Following my conversation with EZ I looked up to see Jacy sitting in a chair and thinking. She looked like she was thinking about something very difficult. Was it such a bad thing that she was going to be with me? Did she really hate me that much?
I mean, I know that I sort of rushed things and made it so that she didn't have much choice in the matter. But hey, this is fate we're talking about. There was no fighting it. Not really. We were meant to be together. The Moon Goddess that governs our people tells us so. There is nothing we can do to stop that.
Still, it would be better if she would at least talk to me a little. If she could just tell me what it is that makes her so afraid of having a mate. If I could just hear her out then we could work it all out.
I am not a man that gets nervous. I am typically the confident and in control type. But for some reason I was scared to say these next few words to Jacy.
I got up and walked to where she was sitting. I knelt on the floor in front of her and looked up into her eyes as I began to speak.
"Jacy, tell me what happened to you.." I hoped that she wouldn't run from me after that question.
