[KYLE POV]
So, we had finally managed to come up with a plan. After making Jacy stay and think of a strategy and backup plans that is. I can't believe she was just going to rush over there and try to take him in right away. Yeah, we didn't see anyone else in the room at the time but that didn't mean that there wasn't someone in there.
This man was not a threat to us, but his friends could potentially be a problem. It just depends on if they were still around or not.
What we didn't know right now was if he was a friend or a lackey. If he was buddies with the psycho shifters then that was a problem. If he was nothing more than a lackey then he probably wouldn't have the support of the bosses if someone was after him.
That was an unknown variable here. We don't know what kind of back up he was going to have with him. There was a man that seemed to be loyal to Sandy Fink. According to Jacy there had been a bear that was willing to fight her over Sandy Fink. But did that mean that all of them were that loyal or just the one?
No, this was not something that I was going to risk. I was going to make sure that I helped my mate catch her mark but I was also going to keep her safe. I wasn't going to let her get hurt again. It was my job as her mate, no it was my job as a man to make sure that she and my cub were protected at all times. That was my duty right now and I would not fail.
We were going to leave tonight still, when it was very late and likely that there would be fewer innocent bystanders, just in case. I was going to have Jacy dress a little more sexy than usual, though she didn't have the perfect outfit for it there were still options that she had available to her.
When we got to the fleabag motel that Sandy Fink was staying at, Jacy would knock on his door and ask for a random name. The person obviously wouldn't be there but she will either offer them services, or there was the likely option that Fink or someone with him would want Jacy and pretend to be the man that doesn't exist.
One way or the other she would most likely be able to get into the room. Once she was in there she could get them to lower their guards and put them at ease. I would then storm into the room, pretending to be angry that my girlfriend was out turning tricks. It wouldn't be too much to pretend because I would be pissed that I couldn't see my girlfriend and I most definitely do not want her to turn tricks.
The fact that Jacy didn't yet know that I was thinking of her as my girlfriend was not necessary. I would believe what I want until it became the truth. I would make it happen with positive actualisation.
We left the inn at around one in the morning. Jacy had her hair styled and teased to look sexy but slightly on the cheap side. Her makeup was impeccable but the colors were too bold and the shade of red on her lips was all wrong for her. It was perfect for the mission of course but it wasn't what I wanted to see on her under normal circumstances. Things like that bright red was a bad fit. Jacy needed something a little more rosy. She needed something with a darker pink with a golden or bronze undertone. Bright colors just weren't right.
The makeup aside, Jacy managed to dress sexy by cutting off the jeans she was wearing when attacked. She said she didn't want them after this trip anyway, all things considered. So, she decided to cut them into very short shorts. She paired them with a fresh black lacy bra and a tight little tank top that she let roll up her belly just a little. She was sexy, that was for sure, but not what I would normally go for.
Once we were finally out of the hotel we were staying in I drove Jacy to the corner near the motel the mark was in. The building was small, only nineteen total guest rooms since the office took the space of one of them. Sandy Fink had gone into room number nine, which was almost at the very end of the long building. That was good, she could avoid the office and just head straight to his door.
My main job for now was to sit here and listen in. That was going to be very hard indeed. At least I could listen though. Apparently Jacy had a spy kit she took with her on every job. I guess she really did think things through from time to time. That was good.
I watched as Jacy walked from the truck, away from me, and toward the seedy looking building. I felt the protective urges welling up inside of me. I just wanted to pull her back inside the truck and take her away from the nasty looking place. It was such a powerful urge that I nearly did it too, but that would not have gone over well with her at all. I needed to support her, not coddle her.
So, with my jaw clenched, my teeth grinding, and my fist closed so tight that my nails dug into my palms I just watched her walk further and further away from me. It was fine. I was going to make it through this. It was all good.
Finally, Jacy made it to the door that our target was behind. I watched as she knocked on it confidently. She was a good actress, that I could tell. She had slid into the role of a tramp with ease but I knew that she was not that type of person.
A man answered the door. It wasn't Sandy Fink, instead it was Jimmy Lee. The man who owned that house where Jacy had been attacked. I counted him just as responsible for what happened as the men I had already killed. He had invited all those people to his home, his land.
If he was here then the other shifters could be here as well. Jimmy Lee seemed like a pivotal part of their whole scheme, whatever that scheme was. Dammit this could all turn bad easily. I was glad that Jacy had insisted on wearing a large amount of perfume so that her wolf scent would be covered up. It was bad for our noses but if there were shifters in there then it was bad for their noses as well.
"What's this? Who are you?" Jimmy Lee asked when he answered the door.
"Hi, are you Xavier?" Yeah now I knew for sure that Jacy was a good actress, because her voice was never that bright and chipper.
"Who the fuck is Xavier?" Jimmy Lee looked confused.
"I'll be Xavier for you sweetheart." Another man came running toward the door. "I'll be whoever you want me to be?"
"Isn't Xavier here?" I saw Jacy tilt her head in mock confusion. "He texted me and told me that this was the room he was going to be in." She showed him a fake text message that we had generated for them to see. "I was supposed to meet him tonight. We've been texting for months and we were supposed to meet each other here. It's halfway between for us." There was fake sorrow in her voice now. She changed the story a little but she was making it work for her.
"No baby, Xavier isn't here, but I'll keep you company. What's your name?" Ugh, I wanted to punch him right now. He was talking to my woman. He was trying to get into the pants of my woman. He would pay for this.
"My name is Tasha." Please, Goddess, give me the strength to not run over there and ruin this. I didn't like what was going on but it was all fake. I know it is but I can't stand this at all.
"Ooh, Tasha. That's a lovely name. Why don't you come on inside and we can get to know each other. You look so beautiful that I just can't pass up this opportunity to get to know you"
Jacy walked out of sight then, going into the room and Jimmy Lee shut the door behind her. My beast was scratching at the walls straining to get out and protect what was ours. I had to take several deep breaths to calm me down enough to actually stay where I was and listen.
"She will be fine." I told myself that more times than I can count.. It didn't help.
