[KYLE POV]
"Don't worry, Kyle. I've got this." Jacy turned to look at me for the first time since the incident started. Yeah, great, now she looks at me, when it's too damn late for me to stop her from doing something reckless. "It's just one stupid bitch. I can put her in her place and be back over here in no time at all."
"If you two do insist on doing this, then please at least wait until the meeting is almost over. There are other points that we need to get to before you can start acting like possessive she-devils." I just sighed and shook my head, not sure how to process all of this. "But I want you both to know that I wholeheartedly disapprove of this whole thing. Especially you, Jacy. You should not have agreed to this so easily." I glared at her and tried to tell her subconsciously the reasons why, but she just shrugged and acted like it was nothing.
"What's done is done, Kyle. I can't change them now and neither can you." She smiled at me. "But you can give me a kiss for good luck, or do you want to save it until I am done wiping the floor with her and give it to me as a victory kiss?" There was a smile on her face then, something that held a suggestive note. I think she was inviting me to rub our relationship into the noses of those females that were so upset by us being together.
"Mmm, why not both? I for one would love to give you luck and congratulate you on your victory when you win. So I think two kisses will be a great way to celebrate that."
With those words, filled with heat and perfectly intended to infuriate Gretchen and the other angry she-cats that were looking our way, I leaned in toward my sexy, tempting mate. Our lips met and her mouth parted naturally to allow my tongue to make its way inside. Kissing her was the easiest, most natural thing that I had ever done, and I would never grow tired of it. I could tell though. That the women who were watching us weren't as happy about this situation as I was. Too bad, they should be focusing their energy on finding their own mate instead of being jealous of mine.
After the kiss broke, Jacy and I sat in our seats. I turned to look at Gretchen who was still staring expectantly at my mate with her anger and jealousy filled green eyes.
"You will have your fight, after the official meeting is over." I glared at her. "There are a few things that need to be discussed before we move on to such petty squabbling." With that she flipped her bright blonde hair over her shoulder and went back to her seat. I couldn't stand her or her overly dramatic ways. And she looked like a circus act next to Jacy. She had opted for a sweater dress that looked like it had been made for a porno. It was off the shoulders and had a plunging V-neck. Honestly, I don't really know what kept the thing from falling down around her waist. And the waist only stayed up because she had a thick, shiny black belt wrapped around it. And then there was the color. It was cherry red, so bright that it should be illegal because it was naturally offensive to the eyes. Fucking hell, I hated that woman with a passion. I've hated her since we were five years old.
As soon as everyone was seated the food was brought out. The meal, which was usually a time that many people spent looking for their mate, was tense. Most people didn't say a word at all, and those that did spoke in hushed tones so that they were less likely to be heard. Everyone was waiting for the shit to hit the fan, and they weren't the only ones. I wanted to get this over with as well, but I also didn't want it to happen at all. I was torn, nearly in two if I was being honest.
Following the meal it was time for those who had found official mates to announce them to me. I don't know why this was a practice with us really, but it was. Maybe it had to do with the fact that there were so few felines in the world, maybe it was just another way that some super controlling asshole wanted to do things a long time ago so it's still tradition today. Who knows, and right now who the hell cares?
Following the mate announcements it was time for everyone to announce how much they were donating to running the pack. I made my own money so I didn't rely on them to support me, but in a lot of cases, when an Alpha wasn't as self sufficient, he survived off of pack donations. It was much like an old feudal system only with money instead of land and pigs as gifts to the lord. The pack members were my peasants so to speak, and they had to pay for the right to even be that. Though, since the Alpha position could change it wasn't an easy relationship much of the time.
Once the supposed taxes were paid for this particular meeting, we had reached the end of what absolutely needed to be done. Usually, this would be when I fended off the advances of dozens of women while dozens of men either laughed at my struggles or growled at me angrily because a woman they were interested in was chasing me. I wish they would have done something about all those she-cats sooner; then this might not be happening right now.
Now though, the tense dinner was done, and everyone was waiting for the fight to start. I was probably the only one dreading it. I was hoping that someone would step in or something would happen to make this whole fight just disappear. But I knew I wasn't that lucky, so I just needed to keep an eye on the fight to make sure that nothing bad happened to my mate or my cub.
The dance floor, which was usually used for, well, dancing, had been cleared of everything in preparation of the fight. I was standing at the center of the circle, watching and waiting as the women got ready. Jacy only took off her shoes, the exact same thing that Gretchen had done. They were both wearing shorter dresses that were slightly looser so they weren't bad for fighting in.
As I watched Jacy slip into her fighting stance, a smirk still on her beautiful face, I felt someone come up next to me.
"Found a fierce one, huh Kyle?" My cousin, Winston, sidled up next to me and put his hand on my shoulder. He and his wife owned this reception hall and were the only ones who knew I was bringing a date ahead of time.
"Yeah, I did." I grinned despite myself. "And I love everything about her."
"That's a rare sight to see. I guess she really is the one."
Winston's words faded then, the fight was starting. I needed to pay attention to what was going on.
I watched as Gretchen tried to kick Jacy immediately. She had leapt through the air and aimed a blow right at my mate's head. Jacy had been prepared for it though. She grabbed Gretchen's leg and spun in a wide circle with her twirling in a large arc. I thought at first she was going to throw Gretchen, but instead she directed the arc of one of the twirls down and made the feline woman smash against the floor. There was a sharp scent of blood that followed.
Gretchen was pissed off at that. She was clearly angry about not having the upper hand so she redoubled her attack. All I could think at the moment were words of celebration and encouragement.
'YES! WAY TO GO BABE! LOVE YOU! YOU GOT THIS! HIT HER HARD! KNOCK HER ON HER ASS! PROTECT YOUR MAN'S HONOR!' Yeah, it wasn't exactly noble, but it made me feel better.
When Gretchen came back for this attack I saw that she had shifted her hand and was aiming low. She was trying to hide the lethally sharp nails from Jacy, but it didn't work. Just as Gretchen swept her legs out in a distraction and tried to claw at Jacy's thigh with the knife-like nails, Jacy jumped and landed on the feline's chest. She knocked the wind out of Gretchen and grabbed her by the hair. With the hold, she readied herself for a throw. After a quick second to position it perfectly, Jacy did a midair flip, taking Gretchen with her. At the arc of the flip, Jacy let go of the woman she was holding and sent her flying straight into the pillar at the edge of the dance floor. The result was a cracking thud-like sound that was definitely heard by everyone in attendance.
'YES! That was amazing. My Jacy is amazing! Let them try and deny her now. She is more than enough to handle that damn bitch. That's right Jacy, show that piece of shit that you're the boss around here.' The thoughts were running through my head, and I needed to work hard not to say them out loud for all of the others to hear. They might not approve of that so much.
