Chapter 109 - NEW COMBATANTS

[KYLE POV]

Gretchen was getting to her feet again, a trickle of blood running down from the corner of her mouth that was absolutely nothing in comparison to the stream of blood flowing from her hair line. Gretchen had obviously hit her head hard when she collided with the pillar. And it looked like she was not very happy about it either.

"You're going to fucking pay for that."

I heard the words come out of the she-cat's mouth, and all I wanted to do was rip her head from her body. I wanted to step in and end this fight for my mate before it could go any further. I was seeing red now, pure anger and hatred for the woman that had so annoyed me for much of my life. I just wanted to end her at that moment. She was threatening my woman, my mate, and inadvertently my child. She just didn't know what type of deadly fire she was playing with right now.

I couldn't do anything though. I couldn't stop the fight. I couldn't step in there and protect my mate. I couldn't do anything. Why? Because it had been a legal challenge, and my infuriating, frustrating, mind boggling, beautiful, sexy, gorgeous mate had accepted it. I could throttle her right now for having done that. I could strangle her and shake her and do whatever else I could think of to vent the frustration that I was feeling at the moment, but I don't think it would help me at all.

Nope, the only thing that would help me would be this fucking challenge ending quickly. And thankfully, my mate had what it took to make that happen. She was just positioning herself to fend off the angry feline's next attack and turn it back against the woman.

It was actually kind of hot to see, if I was being completely honest. The way that Jacy's body coiled and prepared to fight was so alluring and sexy. I felt my body tightening and stiffening in just the right places when I saw her lean forward. The dress was pulled taut over the firm, toned curve of her ass, and it made my mouth water. I was imagining taking her right now, and that was completely wrong, though not unheard of. Back in the bad old days, Alpha's used to consummate their relationships and mark their mates in front of the entire pack. That tradition went out the window a couple hundred years ago, but seeing the way that I was aroused at the moment I could understand the desire to have done it. Especially if mates had to fight for each other like this, it was definitely a turn on.

Still, I needed to focus. I needed to pay close attention so that I didn't miss anything that was happening, like the development that was springing into the middle of the action right now.

Just as I thought about the need to stay focused on the battle in front of me, the entire venue exploded. Several people yelled in shocked surprise, most of them yelling profane things at the dance floor that had turned into a fighting ring.

They weren't screaming these obscenities at my mate. No, they were screaming the nasty words at the five new she-cats that had jumped into the fray. Either this had been the plan all along, and Gretchen had set up my mate, or the newcomers just didn't have faith in their friend. If the pleased and unsurprised look on Gretchen's face was anything to go off of, then I was going to guess that the former had been the truth.

That fucking bitch! That good for nothing piece of shit had issued a legitimate challenge to my mate hoping she would accept it. She was most likely hoping that one of them would end up killing Jacy before I broke up the fight. Yeah, well, that wasn't going to happen.

"Enough!" I roared at them causing the whole room to shake from the power of my voice, and I don't mean just the building. "This has gone too far, Gretchen. You issued a legal challenge, this is now an ambush." I was marching slowly, but steadily toward the fighting ring. "This will end-!" I was raising my voice again to end it all, but I was cut short.

"No!" Jacy yelled out at me. "I will finish this Kyle. I will continue this fight, against them all. I will earn the respect of your pack, or I will have no ground to stand on."

"Jacy?!" I couldn't believe my ears. "What about the-?" She stopped me again, this was getting on my nerves.

"We will discuss this when I am done, Kyle. But I said I will finish this myself. That means I will end this threat against me. One way or another. If the entire threat is not eliminated, then I will just have to take care of it again later." There was a fierceness in my mate's eyes that I understood completely. She was going to take care of business on her own, the way that a true Alpha would. My pack's females were going to learn how to respect her in the most primitive of ways. This was a challenge that was going to be finished in the way of beasts because, when it came down to the essence of us all, we were beasts.

"Alright, Jacy, finish this. Do not make me clean up this mess for you." I winked at her, telling her that I believed in her.

"Don't worry, tomcat, I've got it covered." I nodded at her confident words then turned to walk back to where I had been standing before.

I felt every eye on me as I walked back to my spot. The entire place was silent now, not a sound could be heard. It was either silent, or I just couldn't hear anything above the sound of my pounding heartbeat. I wasn't sure which it actually was, but I was not going to show my nerves or anger to the others right now.

When I was finally back into position, which felt like it had taken me an hour to reach, the fight got right back into gear. I was guessing that it had only taken me a few seconds to walk the short distance I had traveled, but the way I was feeling made it feel like every moment was lasting an eternity.

"You're going to regret not letting the Alpha help you out." I heard Gretchen sneer as she looked at my mate.

"Yeah, you're a real stupid bitch if you think you can take us all on." Karyn, Gretchen's best friend, laughed as she spoke.

"She's just an idiot." Tanya joked along. "This is going to be too easy."

"Oh I know it is. I am so glad that I agreed to do this. She's going down like the dumb whore she is." This time it was Aggie who was talking; man I always hated her.

"She is going to regret ever coming here, and she is going to wish that she never tried to seduce our Alpha. She's going to wish that she kept that rotting cootie snatch of hers away from Alpha Kyle." Quinn glared at her with a jealous rage. What the fuck did she just say about my woman?!

"Goddess, the smell coming off of her. What the hell is the Alpha thinking, trying to tell us that he mated with a fucking dog. Does he think we're stupid? I know she is just a fucking distraction so that he could try to ignore us during this meeting." Stacey, the last bitch of the bunch, seemed like she was having a conversation with herself instead of the others. Yeah, she had never really seemed like she was all there, and this just proved it. "I know, she is such a fucking disgusting piece of trash. No one wants her here. She needs to just leave."

My blood was boiling, my heart was thumping loudly, and the sound was pounding in my ears. I wanted to kill them. I wanted to kill them all.

"Are you sure your mate can handle this?" Winston put his hand on my shoulder and spoke softly. "She looks strong, but this is a bad situation, man."

"I have faith in her." I nodded my head. "She's a lot stronger than any of them know." I grinned. "And she will handle this like an Alpha."

Winston could tell that there was a hidden meaning to my words, but he didn't know what it was. He was just looking at me with a confused expression trying to work out what it was that I had actually been trying to say. That was fine, let him be surprised right along with the others. My mate was going to take care of business. And if it looked like she was going to lose, then I would step in, stop the fight, kill the stupid fucking whores that threatened her and anyone else that wanted to cause my mate any problems. It was all going to be just fine. She will see, they will all see.
