[KYLE POV]
This time I didn't let Laremy drive. When we left Justin's place, I drove and made Laremy sit in the back like he was being punished for his bad behavior, or bad driving. I could tell that Justin noticed the attitude that Laremy was giving off, but he just smirked without saying anything.
"I have a question." Justin finally spoke up just as we were about to pull to a stop outside the bar we were heading to.
"If it's why the Vampire is sulking, then it's a bit of a long story." I chuckled as I thought about it.
"No, it's not that, though I was a little bit curious about it." He grinned and looked in the mirror again at the sulking man in the back seat. "I was curious though, if we're going to see the vampires, shouldn't we wait until later?"
His question made Laremy laugh like he had heard the funniest joke ever.
"Don't tell me you still believe that Vampires can't be in the daylight. I mean, look at me." His giggled words almost made me smile as well, almost.
"Clearly I don't believe that, but still, don't most of them still prefer the night life?" Justin turned to look at him with a raised brow.
"Several of them do. But that doesn't mean that all of them do. I mean, in all honesty, there are more of us that prefer to live like a normal person than there are that like to be a stereotype. I mean, yeah the Den exists for most of those stereotypical vampires, but even us normies like to go there once in a while. It wasn't my favorite scene though, I preferred regular clubs."
"Good to know." Justin just shook his head at the response he had gotten. "But will there, you know, be anyone there right now?"
Laremy laughed again. It was like he thought that Justin was a comedian, and he was putting on a particularly good show.
"Yes, sweetie, there will be people there. The Den is never truly empty. Especially since Salazar actually lives there."
"Salazar?" I asked Laremy for clarification.
"Salazar, or as I know him, Sally, is the man who runs the Den. Don't let that nickname fool you. There are only a select few he allows to call him that, and he does not swing my way at all. Don't worry, he and I are still friends, even though his club is not my scene." I nearly laughed at his words, he and EZ sure did like to give men feminine nicknames if their first names were suitable for them. I just hope he never gives me one of them.
Shortly after that interesting little conversation, we finally left the car behind and headed toward the slightly dingy-looking building. It was out near the water, and the docks were clearly visible in the distance.
The bar's close proximity to the salty water was clear in the appearance of the outside of the building. The metal of the roof was rusting from the air around it. The concrete walls were wearing away and looked a lot more worn out than the counterparts further into the city.
The building didn't look like it was all that great to look at before the salty air took its toll on it. The outside was a nasty pea green color which was horribly faded. And the awnings over the windows were, or used to be, burgundy, that was until the sun and salt faded them of course. The tacky writing on the sign showed that they were clearly trying for a boating or sailor theme, but they failed miserably. I truly didn't want to go inside there, but I also knew that it was necessary.
Unfortunately, I followed Laremy through the door and into the bar. The bartender looked up when he heard us come in, but he apparently recognized Laremy so he just went back to cleaning the counter while the four of us headed straight to the back of the bar and through another door.
This door apparently connected the bar to the warehouse that was next door. And in the warehouse was the large, spacious club that was known as the Vampire's Den. There was music playing, but it was quieter than a club usually was, and there were only a couple of people standing near the bar.
"Laremy." A man of about average height and a body builder's physique stepped away from the counter. "I have not seen you in a long time. Where have you been?"
"I have been spending time with my mate." He answered the man as he went over for a hug.
"Really? I never thought that a slut like you would find a mate." The man grinned.
"Oh Sally, you know I wasn't half the slut I pretended to be." I was at a loss with the scene that was before me. However, this man was apparently Salazar, the owner. He had a light, almost fair complexion with medium brown hair and light brown eyes. He also spoke with a very distinct accent that made me think that he was from Spain.
"I see you have brought some new guests with you." Salazar looked at us. "To what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from two felines and a wolf? And do I smell two Alphas among you?"
"Your nose has always been perfect." Laremy laughed at the man. He was so full of laughter today. I wonder if half of that laughter was fake or the result of nerves.
"Well, you know that I deal with people all the time. I have to be able to read them somehow."
Yes, I know. And you are right, two of them are Alphas. Meet Alpha Justin of the city's wolf pack, and Alpha Kyle of the Greater American Feline pack. And over here we have Baxter, he is part of Kyle's pack."
"Oh wow, I feel so underwhelming after their introductions." Baxter joked which caused us all to laugh and break the tension.
"You're fine, Bax." I assured him before turning to look back at the imposing Vampire. "It is nice to meet you Salazar. My name is Kyle."
"Greetings Kyle." He shook my hand. "Why don't you all come to sit at the bar with me."
At that, Salazar turned to walk away from us and just expected us to follow him.
"Come on." Laremy motioned for us to follow them as he, too, walked away. Having no other choice, we followed the two Vampires to the bar and took seats.
I watched as Laremy was handed a glass that was filled with thick red liquid. I guess they have blood on tap here. Makes sense with their usual clientele; however, I did wonder for a moment where it came from. Though to be honest, I didn't really want to know.
"So, Mimi, I get the feeling that you all want to ask me something." Salazar was looking at Laremy when he spoke so I assumed that Mimi was Laremy. Yes, way too many feminine names coming from these male names. Honestly, I never would have made that the nickname for his name, but hearing it now, I can totally see how that was a perfect fit for him.
"Well, Sally, you're right that someone has something to ask you." Laremy looked at me as he spoke. "Kyle, do you want to take over? Or you Baxter? You're the one that wanted to come here in the first place."
"Yes, I am the one that asked to come here, so I will start. Kyle can continue after me if he would like."
"Before we begin, Mimi, should I call Thea here? She's still upstairs, but if she should hear about this, I don't want her missing anything important."
"Why is the leader of the local coven upstairs? Isn't that where you would live? Or is there a separate place where you live?" Justin was confused and asked as if it were a spontaneous question.
"That is an easy question to answer." Salazar turned and gave Justin a salacious grin. "Thea is here because she is my wife and mate. We've been together for three hundred years now. And I can assure you that everything is still just as spicy now as it was back when we-."
"That will be enough." A calm, cool, seductive female voice drifted across the nearly empty space. "No one needs to hear about our younger days."
"Oh, but the story is so much fun." I saw a grin on Salazar's face. "Don't you want them to hear about how I swept you off your feet with my undying love?" He was giving her loving eyes that told me that he was truly in love with her. I hoped to still be that much in love with my Jacy many, many years from now.
"Don't you mean how you bowled me over with your stupidity." She laughed at him and rolled her eyes. Huh, she looks like someone that would get along with Jacy really well. Then again, maybe not. They both had that dominant and sarcastic attitude. It doesn't always mix well when you put two of those together.
"But sweetheart, I only tried to prove the authenticity of my feelings for you."
"I really think you should drop it." I joked with him. "She sounds a lot like my mate, and if you keep it up, I am sure that she is just going to hurt you.." I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of it.
