Chapter 115 - This Was For The Best

"Sir, what are you doing...?" LeiLei tilted her head in confusion as she questioned after seeing the man simply sitting there staring at the Dorgon.

The Dorgon never made any noise when he talked. He would make noise when he growled or roared but never any when he talked and since Hecathe was the only one who could hear the Dorgon's real voice, for everyone else, it looked as if Hecathe was the odd one who kept listening to a creature that wasn't even speaking.

Hecathe didn't bother giving the girl an answer to her question since the answer was not so simple to say.

How was he supposed to tell her that he was being lectured by the Dorgon...? Wouldn't it make him lose face...?!

Hecathe noted down the time and it took exactly twenty minutes of shouting before the Dorgon finally managed to calm down.

Once the creature was calm, it almost looked as if he realized how big of a mistake he had made and immediately ran to hide under the bed in fear.

"...." Hecathe was even more speechless to see this reaction.

"Sir, why are you scaring Eggy?!" LeiLei blamed him with a frown as she saw the Dorgon running to hide away from Hecathe.

Hecathe felt a little wronged as he heard this question.

Rather than saying it was Hecathe scaring Eggy, wouldn't it be more accurate to say that it was Eggy who was scaring Hecathe...?!

Hecathe sighed as he shook his head and stood up, straightening his back as he spoke, "Eggy says he's hungry."

LeiLei's eyes widened and she looked to be a little shocked as she immediately questioned, "Haven't you fed him yet?!"

Hecathe shook his head, "I didn't get the time to."

"Then we need to feed him!" LeiLei exclaimed with a frown and didn't look to be too happy with Hecathe as she commented, "How can you be so careless...? If you're raising him then you must take good care of him! Why are you raising him if you just want him to starve to death?!"

Hecathe, who was scolded by both the Dorgon and the girl, pursed his lips into a thin line and fell speechless, "...."

The Dorgon peeked his head out from under the bed and nodded as he agreed with the girl. This was certainly the first time the Dorgon was agreeing with LeiLei on something.

"Sir, where do you keep his food?" LeiLei clicked her tongue as she asked.

Hecathe sighed as he realized that he had forgotten to buy chicken for the Dorgon.

"I've actually run out of his food so let's ask the Landlady for some chicken."

LeiLei's frown deepened as she heard this and for some reason, Hecathe felt guilty as if he had abused this girl's pet.

LeiLei immediately headed downstairs and came back empty-handed a few minutes later with a pout on her lip.

"What happened?" Hecathe's eyebrows creased together in confusion as he asked.

"There is no more chicken left," LeiLei informed and Hecathe couldn't help but sigh.

The Dorgon that was peeking his head out from under the bed almost looked as if he was about to cry after hearing this.

"Then I'll have to depend on you this time," Hecathe spoke as he looked at the girl.

LeiLei was a bit confused as she heard this and for a second there, the girl even wondered if the man was trying to throw her forward to become the Dorgon's meal, however, it seemed that Hecathe wasn't that cruel.

In the very next moment, Hecathe took out something from his pocket and handed it over to LeiLei as he spoke, "There's a meat shop nearby. Can you go there and buy his breakfast?"

"What about you?" LeiLei took the money without any hesitation as she asked.

"I'll be heading to the guild first. I need to first take care of something there. After feeding Eggy, you can head to the guild directly and ask them for a person named Kelly."

The girl looked to be a bit hesitant as she heard this but in the end, she nodded her head as she agreed to Hecathe, "Okay."

"Great!" Hecathe nodded his head once with a small smile as he didn't bother wasting any more time and headed out first.

It seemed that everything really had worked out for the best considering the fact that Hecathe had something to discuss with Marvin and Kelly, and it was something that LeiLei didn't need to hear.

When Hecathe got out of the building, he found Marvin waiting for him and it seemed that the man had already expected to see him here.

"Let's go," Hecathe spoke as he started walking first and Marvin nodded as he followed after the man.

"First things first, I think there is something that you must know," Hecathe spoke up as they walked and the man was so casual about it that if one were to overhear him, they would think he was talking about the weather.

"Hmm?" Marvin hummed in response as he waited for Hecathe to continue.

"I was the one behind the rumors about your father coming back to life."

"..." Marvin was silent as he heard this and Hecathe, who was walking in front of the boy, had no idea what type of expression Marvin had at the moment.

With a sigh, Hecathe continued, "The people that I investigated, all gave the same answer. They said that they saw Orgon inside the body of a seventeen-year-old teenager who wore a purple cloak and a mask."

Marvin's eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he looked to be confused as he questioned, "Isn't that... Us...?"

Hecathe chuckled dryly as he nodded his head and spoke, "They saw me."

Marvin's footsteps came to a sudden halt as he heard the man and he was even more confused to hear this.

"You're Orgon...?" Marvin muttered in disbelief and his eyes couldn't help but twitch.

Hecathe also stopped walking as he heard this question and turned around to look at the boy with a wicked smile plastered on his face as he tilted his head and questioned playfully, "Do you think I'm your father?"

"....."

It was certainly a joke that was not funny for Marvin who would want to hit his head against a wall and die rather than find out that he was Hecathe's son.

Hecathe chuckled as he shook his head in disbelief and spoke, "I'm not your father. They were all lying. Or to be more accurate, they are all going to be lying from now onwards."

Marvin's eyes widened slightly and he gulped as he repeated the man's words in his head and immediately realized what Hecathe was trying to say.

"You threatened them?" Marvin raised his eyebrows as he questioned and Hecathe shrugged his shoulders.

"More like, I suggested that they say this if they wanted to keep living."

"...."

That is called threatening...

"What are you planning?" Marvin seemed to have already guessed that Hecathe was planning something but no matter how much he thought about it, he just couldn't understand what was going on inside Hecathe's head.

Doing such useless things such as threatening people to change their testimony... How can that have anything to do with catching the ones who murdered Orgon...?!

"Did you ask Kelly who gave us this mission?" Hecathe questioned back instead of giving a straight answer to the question Marvin had asked.

Marvin shook his head as he responded, "She just said it was someone who wanted to have their name kept a secret. Seeing as how that person is going through the trouble of keeping their name a secret, it can be said that they are probably someone powerful."

Hecathe nodded his head as he agreed to this and added, "It's the person who killed Orgon."

"Eh?" Marvin muttered in shock as he waited for the man to continue.

"There would only be a number of people who would be interested this seriously in a rumor about Orgon coming back to life," Hecathe closed his eyes as he folded his arms and spoke, explaining the situation to the boy.

"Someone with direct relations to him. In this case, that is you. Since you're his son, you'll be interested to know whether the rumor is true or not. But there would be one more person who would be just as interested as you, and if not, then maybe even more, and that person would be the perpetrator."

Marvin gulped and dare not say anything as he heard this. His eyebrows creased together and he attentively listened to Hecathe.

"If I killed a person and framed it on someone else, I would need to make sure that the person stays dead," Hecathe spoke with an example, "If there is suddenly a rumor spreading that the dead had come back to life, I would get anxious and if there is even a little bit of a doubt in my heart, I would try to investigate the root of the rumor."

"Since the person is dead, I would naturally get rid of the dead body and after I get rid of it, I would have no idea what happens to it. If there is a rumor that the dead body had risen, I would be forced to worry about it and might want to find the root of the rumor. This is where we come in."

"We?" Marvin frowned as he repeated and Hecathe nodded his head.

"We the investigators."
