Hecathe couldn't help but let out a small dry chuckle as he heard this, "The things that come easy in life are often unreliable. In order to gain something, you need to go through the trouble of obtaining it."
Kelly couldn't understand the deeper meaning behind Hecathe's words but it didn't look like she was trying to either.
"Let's spread a rumor," Hecathe smirked as he added and Kelly immediately frowned as she heard this.
"What are you trying to do?"
Hecathe shrugged his shoulders casually as he spoke, "We spread a rumor that the real killer is in Ocasia. If Orgon finds out that his killer is here, wouldn't he be baited to come out?"
And it won't be just him who would fall for the bait. The real killer would also fall for it and that was Hecathe's main purpose, but of course, he wouldn't be saying anything about that to Kelly.
Kelly was silent for a few minutes before she asked in disbelief, "Have you lost it...?!"
Hecathe shook his head and firmly responded, "I'm not spouting nonsense. I have thought about it carefully and it is only natural that I have a plan for everything."
"..."
It didn't look like Kelly had much trust in him.
With a sigh, Hecathe continued speaking, "In order to get our client what they need, we need to first get to the bottom of everything. Since it started with the death of the great Orgon, we would need to find the real killer and clear Aphius's name."
"And that's not something easy!" Kelly snapped back as she threateningly glared at the man.
Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this and agreed with the woman, "You're right, but at least there won't be any mistakes at the end. Proving Alphius innocent might be the easy part but finding the real killer is going to be a challenge and getting him to bait out Orgon is going to be even more difficult. That is why we need to spread the rumor that the killer is in this city. We can't find the real killer so we place a dummy instead."
Kelly was a bit confused to hear all this and her confusion could clearly be seen displayed on her forehead in the form of soft creases.
Hecathe sighed as he took a step forward and firmly stated, "You should learn to trust me a little."
"Eh?" Kelly's eyes widened ever so slightly as she heard this and she was stunned speechless at the spot as she saw the man approaching closer.
Hecathe leaned in closer to her ear and continued in a volume that was barely above a whisper, "Since we are on the same team."
Kelly gulped as she heard this but she was not able to give a response and Hecathe took this time to move back as he straightened his back and smiled brightly.
"It's okay even if you don't understand," Hecathe beamed and for some reason, Kelly couldn't help but feel that there was something off about that smile and that sentence.
Kelly had a foreboding feeling in her stomach but when she looked at the determined look evident in the man's eyes, she couldn't help but nod her head as she decided to trust him.
"Okay..." Kelly muttered softly as she closed her eyes and nodded.
Hecathe's smile widened a bit as he heard this and with a nod, he took the file that was kept on the table and spoke, "Let's first get rid of this useless file. Tell the client that we are planning on digging further into the murder of Orgon."
This was the real bait.
If Hecathe's suspicions and calculations were right, their client was probably the real killer and if that was the case, passing on this message to that person would be like challenging him directly.
This was Hecathe's real intention, but of course, Kelly wouldn't know this.
Kelly gulped as she heard this and nodded in understanding, "I'll pass on the message."
"Then I can get started right away," Hecathe replied without missing a beat.
"Okay, be careful," Kelly sighed out as she closed her eyes and shook her head.
Hecathe couldn't help but want to laugh as he heard this, "I think it should be the other way around."
"Eh?" Kelly had managed to hear that comment but it seemed that the woman was unable to make sense of it.
Hecathe turned around without saying anything any further and on his way out, he threw the file in the trashcan before commenting with a small thin smile, "You should be the careful one."
Kelly was the one in direct contact with the client so it was only natural that she was the one in the most dangerous situation.
If there was anyone who should be careful then it should definitely be her.
It looked like there was somewhere in particular that Hecathe had to go to and he was so focused on his thoughts that he couldn't clearly see the people that were crowding the hallway.
Hecathe bumped into a young girl and it was only then that he snapped out of his thoughts.
Hecathe opened his mouth to apologize but when he saw the face of the girl, he couldn't help but recognize her.
"The rare flower...?!" Hecathe's eyes widened in surprise as he questioned and the girl also looked to be shocked as she heard this name.
Hecathe was sure that he hadn't mistaken it... This was definitely the slave that was saved by the woman from seat 44 back in the black market auction!
The girl no longer wore the torn-up soiled clothes that she had worn back then, instead, she had a thick stash of papers in her hand and wore black colored clothes that looked to be tidy and expensive, making her entire person look somewhat different.
If it hadn't been for her beautifully distinctive face, Hecathe would surely not have recognized her.
The girl gulped as she immediately bowed her head and panicked, stuttering as she apologized, "I-I'm sorry. E-Excuse me, I have somewhere to g-go."
Hecathe frowned as he heard this but he didn't bother saying anything or chasing after her.
The girl fled the scene and headed inside, making Hecathe feel confused.
Kelly had just said that the golden fire doesn't take in people who don't have a decent background so to see her in this guild was certainly a bit shocking.
The woman at seat 44 who had saved this girl was Zather so seeing this girl here meant that Zather was also connected to the golden fire guild cause if she wasn't, there was no way she would be able to bring this girl in here.
"Is it just a coincidence...?" Hecathe muttered to himself as his eyes narrowed down at the moving back of the girl who soon disappeared into the crowd.
"Sir!~" Before Hecathe could even finish thinking about it, he was suddenly interrupted by the loud familiar voice of a girl.
Hecathe turned his head towards the direction where the sound came from but before he could even say anything, he was greeted with the sight of LeiLei jumping at him enthusiastically.
Hecathe faltered a few steps back and tripped on his foot as he fell on his butt with the girl on top of him.
It seemed that the dorgon was a pretty bad influence on this girl.
She was slowly turning into an unruly pet.
"Sir, I fed Eggy!~" The girl beamed happily as she looked at Hecathe with sparkly eyes.
Hecathe coughed as he choked out, "Get off of me first. Cough~ Cough~ You're heavy."
LeiLei immediately pushed herself off of the man and stood up as she heard this, letting Hecathe finally breathe normally.
Hecathe scratched the back of his head that had hit the floor and commented, "You should stop trying to kill me like that."
Marvin who was standing beside the girl chuckled as he heard this and couldn't help but respond, "To be killed like that, I bet it would feel nice."
Hecathe pursed his lips and looked to be unimpressed as he heard this comment. With a sigh, the man picked himself off the ground and patted the dust off his clothes as he casually replied with a question, "If it would be nice, why don't you give it a try?"
"..."
LeiLei chuckled as she heard this and glanced at Marvin with a mischievous look in her eyes, "I'll be more than glad to kill you if Sir asks for it."
It hadn't even been that long since Hecathe and LeiLei met each other, but in the eyes of Marvin, it looked as if Hecathe and LeiLei had really become close in this short span of time and could guess what the other was thinking without even having to hear the thoughts voiced out.
He didn't know what it was, but for some reason, he had the feeling that the two could read each other. As if they were somewhat alike.
