LeiLei didn't bother waiting for an answer from Marvin as she looked back at Hecathe and beamed, "Sir, Raven said that I'll be able to join the guild after a small test!~"
Hecathe blinked in surprise as he saw such a delighted expression on her face.
He wondered if this girl even knew what that so-called 'little test' meant.
"I'll try my best to pass it! I won't let you down!" The girl exclaimed with a wide smile on her face and Hecathe couldn't help but get the feeling that he had newly adopted this girl or something.
The way she spoke and reacted... It really made him feel as if he was now raising her as a father.
Marvin chuckled as he heard the girl and raised his hand to pat her head but was immediately stopped by Hecathe who lightly glared at the boy.
LeiLei seemed to have seen this and she seemed to have found it a bit amusing as she chuckled and stuck out her tongue at Marvin, "Only Sir Hecathe can pat my head like that. He's protective over me and you're not allowed."
"..." Marvin felt a little speechless as he heard this and tilted his head as he looked at Hecathe for an explanation.
Hecathe coughed as he retreated his hand and let go of Marvin's wrist, "If you pat her too much, she might remain short forever."
Now, Marvin and LeiLei both looked to be speechless and LeiLei didn't know if she was supposed to laugh or cry at this comment that was indirectly calling her short.
"She's a growing teenager," Hecathe shrugged his shoulder as he added.
"Sir, I stopped growing two years ago," LeiLei immediately responded as she informed.
"Maybe that's because your head got patted a lot," Hecathe coughed as he replied.
"Do I look like a freaking drum to you...?!" LeiLei questioned, sounding a bit offended and it seemed that for a split second there, the girl had forgotten to keep up her sweet and innocent act.
Hecathe hoped that Marvin hadn't noticed it but it seemed that he was not going to be getting what he hoped for.
"Interesting..." Marvin muttered to himself as his eyes narrowed down on LeiLei and his lips curled up in a small smirk.
LeiLei gulped as she realized that she had forgotten to act for a second there and the girl looked to be shocked with herself, wondering why she felt comfortable enough to let go of that innocent act.
Hecathe clicked his tongue as he decided to save the situation by changing topics, "You have a test to get to, don't you? You should go fast or you might get demerits for being late."
LeiLei's eyes immediately widened as she heard this, "That's right. I have to go now! Sir, I'll see you back home!"
Hecathe opened his mouth to correct her and tell her that it wasn't his home but just an apartment he was renting currently, but before any words could roll out of his tongue, he saw the girl running away, heading deeper into the corridor.
Hecathe, "..."
Marvin chuckled as he questioned suddenly, "You know?"
Hecathe side-glanced at the boy and decided to act a little oblivious as he asked, "What are you talking about?"
"She has a bipolar personality disorder, doesn't she?"
Hecathe didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this.
It seemed that Marvin was a bit mistaken about the details but it wasn't like Hecathe was going to clarify that misunderstanding.
Hecathe nodded his head and sighed but didn't bother saying anything as a response.
The girl didn't really have a bipolar personality disorder. She simply liked to act as if she was an entirely different person and that was something that she was choosing to do and hence, she was conscious of her actions that were not considered to be caused by a disorder.
"What a pitiful young girl," Marvin commented with a sigh, "She doesn't even know the way but she still ran."
Hecathe clicked his tongue as he heard this and it was only now that he had realized this fact.
In a state of panic, LeiLei had run away but she didn't even know where she had to go!
"Go after her," Hecathe immediately instructed and Marvin chuckled.
"I was already planning to," Marvin responded with a smirk and didn't bother wasting any more words as he ran, heading in the same direction as the girl.
Hecathe frowned and suddenly had the feeling that Marvin's words had a deeper meaning that was completely unrelated to the current scenario.
However, even though Hecathe felt that there was a deeper meaning behind those words, he didn't bother trying to understand them.
With a sigh, the man once again started walking as he headed out of the guild.
Once he was out on the road, Hecathe walked around aimlessly in search of an empty street where he could contact Xanie.
"Is it true?" Hecathe asked as he sent the first message to the girl, "Was there a raid?"
The street that he had found was a bit dark and there weren't many people around which made this place perfect for the situation and Hecathe casually stopped by the side, crouching down to the ground as he patiently waited for a reply that took a few minutes.
"Sir, I was meaning to tell you but I didn't want to worry you," Xanie sent a reply and from her tone alone, it could be sensed that the girl was a bit worried, "You should be free now."
"Stop that free bullsh*t," Hecathe snapped as he rubbed his head, "Where are they now? Just tell me this much."
"The three willows of spring seem to think that you might be hiding in Ocasia. As for the mecha-suits... They think the same as well."
"So there are mecha-suits in here...? Be more specific, who are they?"
Xanie, "The leader of team blue is there at the moment. His name is Eric Vanghuan. He's the one that saved you."
For some reason, as soon as Hecathe heard this name, the specific face of the man that had saved him from being shot, popped up in his mind.
"Leader rock is also there at the moment, he's the big guy who helped carry you to the underground city."
This description was more than enough for Hecathe to recognize the guy.
There had only been one big guy that had carried Hecathe all the way to the underground city.
"There are a lot more working under them and then there is also another Leader down there. Leader of the golden age, Ascar. He is also controlling a faction of the military to look for you."
Hecathe certainly remembered reading this particular name in Alphius's diary, however, since he had never met the man, he couldn't put a face to the name.
"These are the only leaders here?" Hecathe asked without missing a beat.
Among the mecha-suits, the ultimate superior was Alphius, who was their captain, and Leaders were the ones that worked directly under him. They had the authority to control factions of the military at their will and the only one who can deny them that authority was Alphius.
This indirectly meant that without Alphius, they were the ones who had complete control over the mecha-suited military and this fact was a double-edged sword for Hecathe.
"Captain, why are you asking this?" Xanie sent another message as she questioned.
Hecathe sighed, "Don't question me. Right now, information is only going to put you in danger. We must limit our contact with each other in order to avoid suspicion. You should be careful not to be found out and if there is anything urgent, you should contact me. 'Only then' can you contact me, okay?"
Xanie took a minute to send a short reply, "Understood, Captain."
Hecathe switched off the QMS and leaned his head back on the wall with a sigh.
"This is going to be a little complicated," Hecathe muttered to himself as he wondered what he was supposed to do now.
The mecha-suits knew what Alphius looked like so there was no way they were going to be fooled into thinking that Hecathe was Orgon.
If Hecathe didn't include them in his plan, there was a great chance that they might ruin everything.
However, telling them everything and including them in the plan was also not safe since there was a chance that they would not be happy with the fact that there was another man living inside the body of their precious captain.
The options were really a bit limited...
At the end of the day, Hecathe decided not to think about it too much and left it up to fate.
He turned on the QMS and contacted Zather once again.
"I have another job for you."
It seemed that Zather was a bit free today so her response was pretty fast, "Hmm? Is it an interesting one?"
