Chapter 138 - The Difference In The System Of Governance.

The three headed out to find the mecha-suit who was said to be going around harassing people and Hecathe explained the details of the case on the way out of the guild.

"I think I heard Zail say something like this as well," LeiLei muttered with a frown as she looked up and thought back to the conversation that she had with the man.

"Zail?" Hecathe repeated as he asked, "What did he say?"

"It was on the day that you cooked us dinner," LeiLei spoke as she remembered the odd story that Zail had told her, "He was waiting outside his restaurant for the rain to stop when a mecha-suit came out of nowhere and started asking him questions."

"What questions?" Hecathe and Marvin asked in unison as worry and interest could be clearly seen on the faces of the two.

"It was something about a poster of a wanted man," LeiLei shrugged her shoulders as she vaguely informed.

Hecathe's eyebrows immediately creased together as he heard this and the man had a feeling that he could rightly guess who the man in the poster was without even having to look at the poster.

Xanie had already informed Hecathe that the mecha-suits were in ocasia trying to find him so if there was such a mecha-suit going around harassing random people for information, it was very likely that the man in the picture would be Alphius.

"And?" Hecathe questioned with an indecipherable expression as he waited to hear the full story.

"Well, Zail said that he had no idea who it was so the mecha-suit simply let him go," LeiLei spoke with a small frown as she sighed, "There's nothing more to that story. Zail came right home afterward when the rain had stopped."

"And nothing out of the blue happened?" It was Marvin who questioned out of curiosity and surprise.

The boy clearly expected there to be more to this story just like Hecathe who felt that this story was a bit too short.

"There's really nothing more," LeiLei shook her head as she honestly responded, "Even if something else did happen, Zail didn't tell me."

"Then how can simply asking questions be considered as harassing a person?" Hecathe frowned as he questioned but he was clearly not looking for an answer from someone else, rather, he was asking himself this question as he wondered what might have happened.

"It might just be a misunderstanding or the mecha-suit didn't dare treat Zail the same as others," LeiLei spoke as she came up with the most simple and logical explanation, "We can't even be sure whether this case is related to the man that Zail met."

Hecathe gulped as he nodded, "But we still can't rule out the possibility that the two might just be part of the same case."

Marvin nodded his head as he agreed with Hecathe and LeiLei looked to be a little confused as she muttered in a questioning manner, "Eh?"

"The mecha-suits usually work as a group and avoid situations and missions where they have to be alone. This is one of their most famous characteristics that makes them such a strong force," Hecathe patiently explained as he spoke out of the knowledge that he had gained of this place till now, "The mages usually work alone and do not do well in groups. The three willows of spring created a system of working together for a common cause and when that system proved to be successful in its dealings, the three willows of spring were able to rule the mages."

"That's right," Marvin nodded as he added, "The mecha-suits were created by Alphius and that is the only reason why they take him as the leader and follow his every command. If Alphius was not there then the mecha-suits would work as a group that takes all its decisions together without letting one person take complete control."

Hecathe also nodded as he agreed with Marvin and showed that they were on the same topic, having the same information and views on the topic, "If a mecha-suit is going out looking for a certain person, you can rest assured that he isn't the only one. There is probably an entire group out there that is searching for someone."

LeiLei's eyes widened ever so slightly as she heard all this and the girl couldn't help but be in awe as she realized that there was more to it than what was presented on the surface.

It was a bit impressive to think that Marvin and Hecathe had come to the same conclusion about this case with the already present information that they had about the working of the two different governments.

"Why the hell are we even given this case if there is a whole group of big mecha-suits out there...?!" For a second there, LeiLei forgot to keep up her innocent act as she raised her voice with a frown and questioned.

"Because Ocasia is ruled by the guilds," Hecathe sighed as he responded, "You've been living here for such a long time so I'm sure that you know it better than I do. Ocasia is not under the three willows of spring nor is it under the mecha-suits. This city is completely following the rules made by the old preexisting government that has already died down and to ensure that nobody decides to take over the city, the guilds are established with a strong backing of the local people."

LeiLei could clearly understand what Hecathe was saying and when the girl thought about it, she also felt that the man's words made sense.

LeiLei had lived here for a considerably long time so it was only natural that she knew about the workings of the city.

Hecathe, "If the people are facing a problem caused by either the three willows of spring or the mecha-suits, the guilds are supposed to be there to take care of it. If we ignore the people and neglect it by thinking that this is probably nothing serious, there is a risk of the guild losing power in the future and that would indirectly lead to a bigger power-shifting crisis where either the mecha-suits or the three willows of spring would try to take over the city."

Marvin nodded with a frown as he agreed with the man completely.

"Still doesn't explain why 'WE' have to be the ones solving this problem," LeiLei sighed as she spoke.

"Probably because we were the only ones who didn't have anything better to do," Hecathe shrugged his shoulders as he spoke and LeiLei could easily believe that this was the case since they really didn't have anything to do.

Most of the days, they would simply go to the mutant caves and hunt some mutants. At first, it was a bit fun because of all the money LeiLei earned through it, however, after some time, the girl started getting bored of it and it wasn't just her.

Hecathe and Marvin looked to be bored from day one and showed zero interest in hunting mutants. They would still hunt and bring back the mutant beads, however, they wouldn't do anything more than what they were expected to do.

Now that they were finally given something else to do, LeiLei would be lying if she said that she wasn't delighted.

Although fighting a bunch of mecha-suits was both dangerous and scary, it was still not boring, and that in itself was a good enough reason for LeiLei to go along with this mission.

"So where do we start?" Marvin sighed as he looked around and asked.

There were clearly no mecha-suits in sight so it was clear that they needed to go out of their way to find the people that they were looking for.

"Most of the cases took place at night so we'll have to wait," Hecathe spoke as he took a closer look at the information given inside the file.

"Then let's divide up," Marvin spoke as he looked at the map that was pasted inside the file.

The area where the incidents had taken place was marked with a red color and the darker the color marked was, the more incidents had taken place there.

"We'll divide over the city and look in these areas that are the reddest," Marvin spoke as he pointed at the map, "At least one of us would be able to find the culprit."

Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this plan and agreed to it readily, "Let's do that."

"But what happens when one of us really does come across a mecha-suit?" LeiLei asked as she raised her eyebrows.

"Then we simply tell them to stop harassing the people," Marvin chuckled as he answered the girl and one couldn't understand whether he was being serious or sarcastic while saying this.

"..." LeiLei pursed her lips into a thin line and glared at the boy. She was clearly not impressed with this answer.

"We talk to them and clear out the misunderstanding if there had been any," Hecathe sighed as he spoke, revealing the true plan that they were supposed to follow.

"That's it?" LeiLei frowned as she questioned, sounding a bit disappointed that this was all that there was to it.

"..."
