"I bet she sent you here to spy on me," Zather chuckled dryly as she commented and Hecathe didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this question.
That was exactly why the landlady had hired him.
"So what now? What are you going to tell her?" Zather leaned in forward on her desk as she asked.
Hecathe, "I'm going to tell her that you're doing good. There is no reason for me to say anything more than that."
Zather squinted suspiciously at the man as she heard this and asked, "Is that really it?"
Hecathe nodded his head with a sigh as he stood up once again, "You seem to be suspecting her of a lot of things but I can tell that she's just worried about you. She only asked me to check how you were doing and nothing more than that. Why don't you meet her once and try to sort out a few things?"
"..."
"She might seem like an awful mother to you but from what I have seen till now, I can see that she is just a caring woman that is a bit concerned about her daughter," Hecathe added with a small chuckle, and Zather was left a little speechless as she heard this.
"I know that she won't tell me what relationship she has with you and that is why I came here today. Since I got the answer that I was looking for, it is time for me to go and deal with another quite troublesome woman," Hecathe spoke with a small smile as he turned around and left the room.
This time, Zather didn't stop the man and simply let him leave. She watched him go and even after he had left, her eyes remained on the door and she looked as if she was thinking about something deeply.
"Ma'am, why did you lie to him?" Kail tilted her head as she asked, glancing at Zather whose expressions weren't easy to read.
"Cause he's a troublesome one as well," Zather responded without even having to think about the answer.
Kail frowned as she heard this and looked at the door as she commented, "It looked like he was a friend though. I'm sure he didn't have any ill-intent."
Zather sighed as she heard this and nodded her head as she agreed with Kail, "You're right. He might not have any ill-intent but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry."
Kail gulped as she heard this and although she couldn't quite understand the woman and the way her mind worked, Kail still nodded her head in understanding and said nothing more.
Zather had successfully lied to Hecathe once again and she believed that she had managed to get away with it, however, Hecathe sighed as he got out of the room and shook his head in disbelief.
"What a troublesome liar," Hecathe commented under his breath and he was certainly referring to Zather.
The man was good at sensing lies and although Zather was a pretty good liar, there was still one thing that gave her out. She looked to be on her toes the entire time. She looked like she had her guards up even after revealing the truth and it was a dead giveaway that she was trying to hide something.
However, although Hecathe knew that the woman was lying, he still didn't bother asking her any more questions nor did he try to extort more information out of her since she was an asset that he was not looking to lose.
And it wasn't like everything that she had said had been a lie. When she talked about the landlady having a child, it looked as if she was not lying but at the same time, Hecathe could sense that the woman wasn't exactly talking about her own self which meant that there was indeed a child but it was not her.
If this was the case then Hecathe sensed something more complicated in this story and he was left with questions that couldn't be easily answered.
Why would Zather know about the landlady and her daughter when the whole thing was kept as a secret that almost no one else knew? And why would the landlady ask about Zather without inquiring about her daughter first?
This was confusing... To say the least.
And since it was so confusing, Hecathe simply decided to ignore it for the time being and headed to Kelly's office.
She was the troublesome woman that he was talking about and when he entered her office, he was proven correct as the woman threw a file aiming at his face.
Hecathe sighed as he easily caught the file and opened it.
"The client wants proof!" Kelly looked to be anxious as she announced, and from the dark circles under her eyes, it was clear that the woman was missing some sleep.
Hecathe frowned as he looked at the woman and asked, "Are you doing okay there, boss?"
Kelly rolled her eyes as she heard this and immediately responded without missing a beat, "There's no time for that. The client wants evidence and he wants it tomorrow. You're plan is going to blow up on your face, Hecathe!"
Hecathe chuckled dryly as he heard this nodded his head as he muttered with an amused tone, "Is that so? Well, it was to be expected."
Kelly looked a bit confused as she looked at the man who was chuckling, "Hecathe, you should be more worried than me right now... How can you freaking laugh?!"
Hecathe coughed and snickered as he tried to look a bit more serious. The man swung the file in front of his face as he spoke, "Don't get me wrong, this is a bit worrying but it's nothing that cannot be handled. After all, you should have already seen this coming. He is clearly not an idiot who would believe everything that you tell him. Sooner or later, he was going to demand proof."
"Huh?" Kelly tilted her head as she looked at the man and waited for him to explain.
"If he wants evidence then I guess we just have to give him evidence to satisfy his needs," Hecathe beamed and Kelly looked even more shocked and confused as she heard the man who was not exactly making any sense at the moment.
They had lied to the client about Orgon and Alphius so how in the hell was Hecathe going to bring evidence when there was absolutely no evidence, to begin with?!
"Tell the client that we have managed to track down the great Orgon," Hecathe smirked as he spoke, "He was buying the auction house for some reason and we managed to track him down in the process."
Kelly pursed her lips into a thin line and looked at Hecathe in disbelief as she asked, "So you want me to lie to him again...?"
Hecathe shook his head as he asked, "Who said I was lying?"
"Eh...?" Her eyes widened ever so slightly as she looked at Hecathe in utter shock.
Hecathe chuckled softly as he spoke, "We really did manage to catch the great Orgon. We don't know whether he's the real one or just a guy pretending to be him, but I guess the client would be happy nonetheless since it's the guy that he has been looking for."
Kelly gulped as she questioned, "Hecathe, are you sure about this...?"
Hecathe nodded his head as he confirmed it, "I am sure. Tell him that next week, on Friday, Orgon would be appearing at the auction house once again and he would be sitting on the highest floor. After the auction is over, Orgon is going to stay back and talk with the previous owner This would make the perfect proof for him, would it not?"
Kelly gulped as she nodded her head and agreed with the man, but at the same time, the woman looked like she found the situation to be a bit too good to be true.
How could Hecathe just randomly find the great Orgon exactly when the client asked for him...?!
Hecathe frowned a little as he spoke a bit playfully, "I thought you'd be a bit happier to hear this news."
Kelly gulped as she snapped out of her thoughts and nodded her head, "I am glad but... Are you sure that you found Orgon and not some imposter?"
Hecathe chuckled as he heard this question and teasingly asked, "What now? If you don't trust my abilities then why did you even give this assignment to me in the first place itself?"
"..."
Hecathe sighed as he added, "If you think that I'm lying then you are also welcome to come and check for yourself."
Kelly still looked a little suspicious as she heard this, but at the end of the day, she could do nothing more than trust Hecathe and his words.
Later the day, the woman did as he told her and talked to the client, telling him about the presence of the great Orgon in the auction house next week.
