Liu Ruolan w.h.i.n.ed in pain but no one came forward to help her. Even Sun Choi stood there, unaffected.
Markus removed his hand from his eyes and sat up, looking at the pathetic Liu Ruolan.
His cold eyes sent a shiver down her spine that she shut her mouth and did not dare to make a sound despite the fact that she was dying in pain.
Blood was flowing down from her leg but no one cared.
"Tell me, how should I kill you now?" Markus asked, raising one of his brows.
"I did what you told me to do." Liu Ruolan cried, her tears gushing down from her eyes.
"But you still failed. What a useless person you are." Markus taunted.
Liu Ruolan bit her lips as she had no words to rebuke but Sun Choi did not stay silent.
"Give me a chance." Sun Choi said.
Markus looked at him interestingly and asked. "And who are you?"
"I…" Sun Choi was about to introduce himself but Markus beat him to it.
"Ah! I remember now. You are Mo Jun's illegitimate child. The one he did not want, right? And…" Markus's eyes fell back on Liu Ruolan. "You have the guts to promise him to give him the European Underworld."
'Bang!'
One more bullet hit Liu Ruolan's right arm, making her cry in agony.
"Ahh! It was no easy to kill Mo Jiang that I took his help." Liu Ruolan explained.
"That I can see." Markus said sternly.
"I will never betray you." Sun Choi immediately added.
He looked into Markus's eye. Although he was scared, he did not show it in his eyes.
"You want me to trust you, the person who betrayed his own brother."
"He is not my brother." Sun Chou snapped.
"Tsk...Tsk. Blood is thicker than water. Since you want to kill Mo Jiang then…" Markus again looked at Liu Ruolan and continued. "Why should I need you? You are useless to me like that boy...What was his name? Ah...Bo Xiao. Where is he anyway? Still, crying in mourning? What a pathetic boy he is. I am wondering what did I ever see in him to keep him under me?" Markus asked, disappointed and stood up.
Morris passed the gun to Markus which he pointed at Liu Ruolan's head. "Tell me one reason why I should keep you alive?"
Liu Ruolan started sweating at the sight of the loaded gun pressed to her temple. She knew that Markus would be angry at her but she did not expect that he would kill her.
Was she going to die like Liu Juan?
A terrible feeling glinted in her eyes as she stuttered. "I-I killed Liu Juan."
"Really? So what?" Markus asked. He seemed unaffected by her reasoning.
"Give me one more chance. I won't disappoint you this time. I promise." Liu Ruolan uttered to show her loyalty to him.
"You promise?" Markus laughed as if he had heard a joke.
Had she not promised Liu Juan to protect her in their childhood?
Na! In fact, she was the one who killed her own biological sister.
Poor Liu Juan!
Markus was not going to buy her bullshit. He put his finger on the trigger and was ready to fire it at her.
"I will kill Si Li as well!" She burst out.
But it was too late.
He pulled the trigger and fired it at her.
Liu Ruolan closed her eyes in fear, holding her last breath. She even forgot the pain of her body.
Everyone thought she was dead.
'Pang!'
She opened her eyes to see Markus' twitching face. "Lucky you."
Sun Choi did not display any kind of p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e and disappointment. It would be good if she would die as there would be no one to come and take credit with him but she was still useful to him, especially to kill Si Li which they had decided to propose in front of Markus so that he would let them live.
And he did.
Markus walked back toward the rock and turned around to look at Liu Ruolan and Sun Choi.
"You two stay here in Country X and fulfill the task before coming to me. But remember, there will be no other chance for you except death." Markus said.
After that, he walked away and his men followed as they silently left Country X before Si Li could catch them.

The next morning, the clouds started moving to let the bright sunlight fall on Diamond Hills. The cold breeze entered the room let the curtains dance in its rhythm.
Sunlight rays fell on Lu Lan's face, making her growl in annoyance as she rolled over the other side of the bed. Thinking that Si Li would be there, she would hide in his arms from this early morning's harsh bright light.
But she continued to roll to the end of the bed because there was no one beside her and she was about to fall down. Her heart jumped in a moment in realization. Luckily, she held the corner of the bed before she hurt herself and her child.
Sighingly, she sat on the bed where she could still hear how ferociously her heart beats.
After a while, she closed her eyes and calmed herself down. Then she noticed Si Li was not in the room. Thinking that he would downstairs. She changed her clothes and freshened up before going down.
Madam Si was sitting alone, reading a newspaper and sipping the tea. She heard the sound of footsteps to see Lu Lan was here. "Xiao Lu, you wake up early. Tell me what do you want to eat? I cook it for you." Madam Si asked as she folded the paper and put it aside.
"Let Li cook today's breakfast." Lu Lan came to sit beside Madam Si and said. She had been craving to eat something tasty cooked from Si Li's hands.
Lu Lan did not want to exaggerate but she liked Si Li's home-cooked dishes most.
"Alright then go wake him up otherwise you will starving." Madam Si said, did not mind that her daughter-in-law did not want to eat food cooked from her hands.
"But he is not in the room." Lu Lan said frowningly.
"Not in the room, where did he go then?"
"I don't know. Let me call him." Lu Lan suggested and took her phone to call him but his phone was switched off.
'Where did he go now?' Lu Lan questioned herself.
Did he go missing like the day before yesterday?
Lu Lan could not help but feel sad and suspicious.
What exactly was he up to?
