45 Chapter 45: They Are Like Two Enemies

Nathalia glowed and sparkled with spirit.

Matt gazed at her. No wonder people say charm comes with confidence.

Spencer knitted his brows again and intentionally moved forward slightly diagonally to block Matt's sight, thinking, She's mine. Don't you stare at her! And he turned to look at Nathalia, what a cheeky thing you are! He wanted to squeeze her and kiss her.

"Babe, please don't ever leave me. You won't, will you?" He said in a deliberately pleading tone.

Goosebumps crawled on Nathalia's arms. Her heart trembled with disapproval. This is so not him. Why does he have to call me, babe? Ewww.

The others were shocked as they had never seen Spencer behave so and couldn't imagine him saying what he had just said.

"Spencer, if you don't take my suggestion, you will regret it." Kurt threatened.

Kurt cared not if Spencer had many girlfriends, but he was worried that Spencer had fallen into Nathalia's trap. That would be a disaster. But how long will it last? I can't see Spencer sticking to one girl. He's not like that.

Spencer couldn't care less what his father said. His threat meant nothing to him.

"Regret? What are you going to do? Give all the property to a stranger, Him? No problem. I don't care."

Spencer replied coldly, and he glanced at Matt to refer to him as the stranger. He then turned around, holding Nathalia's hand and marched to the gate.

Nathalia was perplexed and eager to find out what was going on, but she followed Spencer compliantly.

She could felt that he was very upset. Extremely upset.

The word "stranger" dismayed the little happy family of three.

"You get back here! Spencer! Right now, get back here!" Kurt yelled at him, angrily. He was furious, and again, he believed that Spencer was born to be his torture.

Expectedly and as usual, Spencer didn't even turn around. It was the first time they argued, and it would not be the last time either.

Matt came up to Kurt, put his hands on his father's quivering shoulders. "Dad, it's mum's birthday today. Let's forget about that and come to enjoy our dinner." He soothed him.

They went inside the room and sat back down. Kurt was still fuming. It was too embarrassing for him to have his son speak to him like that. It was one of the reasons he didn't like Spencer.

"Spencer was utterly disrespectful. He's got such a bad temper." He remarked while thinking Luckily, and I've still got Matt. My best boy.

Matt's mother, Nancy Allen, seated next to Kurt, wore a peculiar expression as if she was trying to hide her smile. She tipped Matt the wink secretively.

Matt braced himself and said to his father, "Dad, don't be upset. You know Spencer has always been like that."

Kurt hugged her, lovingly, "Don't be silly, Nancy. Spencer was born like that, rude, hot-tempered..."

A voice from the door stopped Kurt. "Dad, it's disrespectful to talk behind someone's back, isn't it?"

Surprised, Kurt jumped up to his feet and looked at the door, so did Nancy and Matt, to see Spencer leaning at the door, a sneer on his face, his eyes piercing.

Nancy shivered as if the temperature had dropped suddenly.

Kurt did not expect Spencer would return. Embarrassed, he searched quickly in his head for something to say, "You..." but Spencer interrupted him as soon as he voiced.

"By the way, if you are coming to the party, don't forget to bring nice presents. I suggest the more expensive, the better, or I can't guarantee I can persuade Nathalia to accept you as her father-in-law."

Spencer showed not a tiny bit of respect.

Embarrassment evaded Kurt immediately, and he was now back to his furious state. He yelled, "If you marry her, you are not coming back to my house. Never!" His neck and face turned red with fury.

Nathalia's jaw dropped slightly. She knew nothing about the relationship between Spencer and his father. She had not expected it to be this extreme, even worse than herself and her father. At least, they still wore a friendly mask, be it fake, for each other.

They are like two enemies. What has happened between them? Nathalia wondered.

Nancy looked worried like a mother who sincerely cared about her children. Softly she said, "Please, honey, don't say that. Spencer didn't mean..."

People that didn't know would think Nancy was Spencer's mother. She wasn't the most stunning looking sort of women, but some men would easily fall for her gentleness and delicateness.

But Spencer was not one of them.

He sneered and said, "Nancy Allen, don't you find yourself disgusting calling someone else's husband honey? You are just a shameless mistress. Don't think of yourself, Mrs. Davidson! My mum's not dead yet."

It shocked Nathalia like an explosion. What?

She realized how similar they were. Somehow, she regretted having consented to their agreement. It's probably a mistake. She thought.

Nancy looked as shocked as Nathalia, but for a different reason. Tears soon flooded her face, and she sobbed silently.

Kurt's heart ached for her, but for some reason, he didn't say anything to comfort her. Matt, instead, stepped forward and defended, "Spencer, you are my brother, please respect mum, at least for my sake. If you have to be angry with someone or blame someone, you can blame me, but not mum."

He sounded just like a righteous prosecutor of justice, and his tone requested respect.

Nathalia pondered on Matt's words and found him cleverly amusing. Though she was not a nosy person and never cared much about gossips, she had to admit that she was now intrigued to find out the story behind.

She tilted her chin sideways, looked at Spencer curiously with her innocent eyes "Spencer, and I'm really confused now. Would you mind introducing us?" She had guessed numerous possibilities in her head before she asked.

Spencer smiled indifferently, his hand still holding hers, feeling the warmth and softness of it, and gently he said to Nathalia, "Babe, they are not anyone worth knowing. No worries."

His tone was so nonchalant and defiant that it silenced Matt.
