59 Chapter 59: Sound So Sincere And Caring

Nathalia wasn't scared of voicing herself. It was said loud and clear.

The crowd gasped. "What?" It hit them like a bomb.

"My god. What did she do?!"

"Drugs? Sex?"

Evette's face reddened. Everyone's eyes fell on her like ablaze, and it scorched her with embarrassment.

Nathalia paused for a few seconds to let the message sink in, then she continued, her voice clear still, "What's more, I believe the law is fair and if you are innocent, you will be free and if you are not, then you should and will get your PUNISHMENT." She stressed the last word intentionally.

Evette knitted her brows to a wounded frown, more tears ran down her face, and she put on her pitiful look again. "Nathalia, you know what you did. Don't deny it. Why? Why did you set me up and put me through this?"

A pretty girl's tears always worked as a terrific weapon. The guys were pretty much convinced that Evette was innocent. But the girls were not so sure.

Watching the two sisters turning to enemies, a thought came to Matt's mind. But it wasn't certain.

Then the school principal hurried to the scene. His belly wobbled as he ran, sweats dripping down his forehead.

The chaos brought his heart to a worrying state. He glanced around till his eyes fell on the sisters.

"Nathalia and Evette, what are you two doing? I demand an explanation."

What's going on? The police are here! The Carter's again. One after another. How annoying!

Evette couldn't care less about the principal which often flattered and sweet-talked her to please her. She turned her head sideways, looking upset and unjustified.

On the contrary, Nathalia acted gracefully, "Mr. Cooper, please don't worry. The police are here. They will surely find out the truth, and everything will be fine." Calmly and clearly, she expressed herself. It was perfectly said.

Matt gazed at her. She's not to be underestimated. How fast she changes!

Nathalia noticed how Matt was looking at her, but she paid no attention, and she went close to Evette, took her hand and said, caringly "Evette, don't worry. No one will do you any harm as long as you are innocent. Mum, dad, and I will help you."

She sounds so sincere and caring now.

The crowd was puzzled. What's going on between these two sisters?

Evette found Nathalia repulsive, and she grew angry again. What a pretentious bitch!

"Nathalia, stop pretending. You are lying. What you did is unforgivable."

Ever since she could remember, Evette always got what she wanted. If she couldn't have it, she would have it destroyed.

Nathalia bit her lower lip slightly and looked at Evette, worried. She comforted her, "Evette, calm down, please. I know you..."

A middle-aged man rushed to the principal, his cheeks red from running, his eyes wide open in panic.

It was the principal's assistant. "Mr. Cooper, the..., there's a group of reporters at the school gate." He was gasping for breath.

Mr. Cooper's face grew rigid. What?! How?! Who?!

"Don't let them in!" He demanded. Shit! It's going out of control. Who told the press? Bastard! If I find out who did it, he's going to pay for it.

The assistant said helplessly, "It's too late to stop them." as he turned around to see the group of reporters running towards them.

The whole school was chaos. Excitement filled the air.

There was no difference in the Davidson Group.

The meeting had just finished. Spencer came out of the conference room, followed by his staff. A figure suddenly showed up to block his way.

Bradley, one of Spencer's assistants, reacted quickly, and he stepped forward from behind Spencer to stop the intruder. "Mr. Carter. What brought you here?" He asked formally.

Everyone was confused and surprised how calm Spencer had acted as nothing had happened. They could all feel the tension in the air in the office.

Frank was clad in a wrinkled suit. He didn't even have the thought of shaving and changing his attire. He looked apologetic and worried.

"Mr. Davidson, I've come to apologize to you for my older daughter, Nathalia Carter. It was my fault. I will give her a good talking to. She's young, and she understands she's made a mistake. Please forgive her. Please..."

He sounded emotional and genuinely worried about his daughter. The crowd looked at one another, confused and curious.

Spencer's face was cold. He sneered and said indifferently, "Mr. Carter, you are a very caring father."

Frank watched Spencer's face, but he couldn't detect his real feelings. He grew anxious.

"I understand that the engagement shall be canceled. We sincerely apologize for what happened. If there's anything that we can do to compensate, please let me know."

Huh. A caring father, making the effort of coming all the way here to apologize in person. It just shows how eager he is to prove the rumors true to the public.

Spencer thought, and he felt a sudden sadness inside him, for Nathalia. If she knew how her father was treating her, she must feel hurt.

He couldn't imagine what life was like for her at the Carters, losing her mother at a young age, being bullied by her half-sister and brother, mistreated by her step-mother.

It's not life. That's not living.

A sudden pain seized his heart. It was a strange yet strong feeling. She's only eighteen years old, but she has to fight such a battle on her own.

"So, this is all you can say?"

"Huh?" Frank was startled, he froze for a few seconds then he came up with an idea and said, "Well, my younger daughter, Evette, is a very good girl. She's beautiful, kind, and smart. An excellent girl. I'm sure you two can get along very well, perhaps..."

Frank was still determined that Nathalia should not be with Spencer, but it would be perfect; it was Evette.

All of Nathalia's heritage belongs to the family of my son. No one else can take it away from us.

He spoke highly of his younger daughter as if nothing had happened.

Spencer stared at him 'till he shivered. What does it mean?

He had a feeling that something bad was to happen. It wasn't going the way he expected.

Then Spencer said coldly, "I'm not interested in girls who have no self-respect."

Astonished, Frank was speechless. He gazed at Spencer. The aloofness and emotionlessness on Spencer's face made him shiver again.
