61 Chapter 61: What’s With Her?

She was sobbing hard, tears streaming down her face. Anne cuddled her tighter. She was also in tears. "No, no, sweetie. Please, don't say that. It's my fault. I couldn't save you from harm."

They had successfully gained all the attention and won sympathy from the crowd, especially the male supporters.

Again, they pointed their arrows at Nathalia, "Nathalia Carter, see what you have done!"

"You are vicious, cruel."

"You will be punished!"

They all blamed Nathalia for hurting their beautiful Evette.

"You, wicked, evil thing, you will go to hell."

However, Nathalia simply listened and watched. Her face showed no sign of anger or fear. She looked indifferent.

They are very good at acting indeed. It looks like playing the pitiful role is the way to play. They must have learned it from me. Ha. Nice one. Well played.

Anne and Evette were still howling as if the world had come to an end. The crowd grew more agitated as they heard the crying and glared at Nathalia.

A few guys even shouted, "Nathalia Carter, you deserve a good beating. You should go to hell." Some were impatient and stepped forward, intending to punch Nathalia.

Anne Carter was watching and listening to the whole time. Good. That's right. That's what I want. Everything's in control. She thought triumphantly.

You, little devil. You are dead!

You will be looked down upon from now on! I will make sure you do.

I've done it to your mother, and I will do the same for you! You are just the same as your mother, an obstacle to be removed.

Seeing the advancing attackers, Matt was furious. He stood in front of Nathalia and yelled, "Stop! Quiet!"

What's wrong with these stupid guys? All lost their senses because of two crying pretentious women.

The attackers hesitated and stopped. Though they wanted to show their support and show off, they dared not go against the police.

Jealousy was apparent in Evette's eyes, and she questioned sourly, "You are still protecting her? There must be something going on between you two. You know, Nathalia, I'm so jealous of you. You've always been dad's favorite. You always get what you want while Zack and I can only hope for the same. Now you have another man to protect you..."

One after another. What is it with her? Why do guys like her at all? There's Spencer and now this guy. Are they blind or something? Can't they see what she's really like?

Nathalia understood what Evette was implying. She smiled a helpless smile, and slowly she replied. "Evette, you are wrong. Zack is dad's favorite, not you nor me. He's the only son of the family, the heir."

Instead of defending herself, she slightly changed Evette's statement, and it was a clever move.

That the son was the heir in the family was still widely accepted in society.

The reporters then recalled how Frank Carter protected his son in the press conference, and they started to believe that Evette was making things up.

How much truth is there in Evette's accusations? Are they true?

She's got a record of lying before. On the contrary, Nathalia Carter has kept a good reputation, and last time, she was bullied and beaten by her half-brother.

Nathalia Carter doesn't look like someone that bullies others.

And Anne Carter is known as calculating. How else did she get her way to be Mrs. Carter then? It's natural that she protects her own daughter.

It's probably Nathalia Carter that needs protection. Too many doubts.

Evette and Anne seemed to sense that the crowd had changed their attitude. Evette looked worried, and Anne knitted her brows.

Then someone sneered, "Haven't you hurt your sister's feelings enough?"

Nathalia turned around to see a familiar face amongst the crowd. It was one of Evette's followers at the party last night. Peter Stiller, his name was. To be exact, he was one of the accomplices.

Nathalia looked right into his eyes as if she feared that she would forget his face. Whoever that's hurt me, I will take revenge on them.

Hearing the supportive voice, Evette recollected herself and started crying again. "Nathalia, why? Why don't you like me? Why do you always bully me? Why do you always hurt my feelings? I've comprised so much. Isn't that enough? Why did you do this to me?" She looked miserably upset.

Anne joined in. "My poor Evette, my poor girl, you have suffered so much. Why did she hurt you again and again?"

The crowd was confused, not sure who to believe.

The corner of Nathalia's lips lifted, and she smiled casually. "Oh, Evette, why not be honest just for once? Ever since you were little, you've been determined to take everything from me. My father, my fortune, my place, even my boyfriend. What have you composed? You never comprise. You rob me of everything. Just then, you told me I'm nothing, nobody, remember?"

The crowd was shocked again. Both parties sounded convincing. Who was telling the truth? However, most of them believed Evette and Anne more, mainly because of their tears.

Evette denied, "I never said that! You are making things up."

"Am I?" Nathalia replied and took her phone out of her pocket.

The crowd watched, confused.

Then, the recording of their conversation earlier was heard clearly.

"You have to tell the press that it was you that was having a threesome..."

"Threesome? It must be a crazy experience. Evette, why do you have to be like your mother and sleep with any man? It's so sad."

"Bitch! Shut up! I'm warning you. If you don't do what I said and tell the press, it was you, and you are going to suffer." She threatened.

"Evette, please don't threaten me. We are at least half-sisters. You did such an awful thing, and now you are asking me to take the blame and lie to people. This is unfair. I don't want to be the scapegoat."

"Don't talk to me about fairness. You don't have a mother. I do. Is that fair? Hahaha. Remember, this is also mum and dad's idea. If you disobey, we will make you suffer. Do you really think you are part of our family? No! You are nothing! Nothing!"

"No, it's not true. It's not true. Dad loves me."

"Naïve and stupid. Dad never cares about you. What he wants is the money you are inheriting."
