71 Chapter 71: I Have Power And Money

Kurt paid him no attention. He didn't even look at Spencer. It was obvious that the father and son did not get along well. Nathalia had seen it once before and was not so surprised this time.

Nathalia smiled. She showed not anger but confidence and elegance. "Mr. Davidson, may I ask why you don't agree? I will consider your opinion if it's sensible." Calm and clear.

If you want something, fight for it. Even if you can't have it at the end, you will at least have no regrets. This is what I believe.

Kurt seemed surprised by what Nathalia said, or, more so, the way she said it.

"You are not good enough for Spencer…" He gave his reason. Frank Carter does have a smart daughter, but it's a shame that he doesn't know to appreciate it.

"Dad," Spencer interrupted, annoyed. It has nothing to do with him. It's my own business. It's my choice. I want to be with whomever I want. He doesn't have a say. How did he find out so fast? Is it him again? Did he tell dad?

Nathalia remained calm. She looked at Kurt with a self-assured smile and said, "In what way am I not good enough for Spencer? If you are talking about money, I will have plenty in two years' time. If you are talking about my look, I believe I'm not bad looking at all. If it's my personality or manners," She paused, looked at Spencer cheekily, and continued, "I'm way better than your son, I have to say."

Spencer laughed. Cheeky thing. I like that.

However, Kurt didn't find it funny at all. He was utterly astonished, his eyes wide open as if he had seen something extraordinary. It's not what I expected at all. She's not at all like her...

Nathalia went on proudly, "I'm pretty, rich and smart. You should be grateful instead."

"Hahaha," Spencer burst out laughing. Isn't she adorable?! Cheeky little thing. He wanted to award her with a kiss.

Nathalia stared at Spencer and questioned, "What are you laughing about?" Isn't it true? Everything I said is true. You've got a bad reputation as a playboy, and I've never said anything about it. Huh.

Spencer stopped laughing and put on a half-serious look. He put his hand on his chest and bowed, "My princess, I'm so flattered to have you as my fiancée." He said playfully, affection in his eyes.

Nathalia blushed but pretended to act cool and played with her hair indifferently. He's quick and clever. I like that. She gazed at him and couldn't take her eyes off him. His eyes are so bright and clear, his smile so beautiful. How can someone be so good-looking?! I can just look at him forever. I'm so blessed to have him.

He narrowed his eyes, knitted his brows as if he was thinking hard. After a while, he said, "Nathalia Carter, the money you have is nothing compared to the Davidsons. Spencer is the heir. We own almost half the world's property..."

He was trying to come back with a persuasive reason, but that was the only thing he could think of.

He was interrupted before he could finish. "I feel sorry for you." Nathalia shook her head and looked at him pitifully.

Kurt was shocked and confused. "I beg your pardon!" I'm the chairman and CEO of a dozen companies. I have power and money. I can have anything I want. Who are you to feel sorry for me?!

Spencer lifted his eyebrows, hearing what Nathalia said. He was almost excited, expecting an explanation from Nathalia. She always comes up with surprises.

He then remembered their encounter at Wilson's party. When everyone else respected him and was careful with what they said to him, Nathalia didn't pay him any attention, and she even talked back to him defiantly. He loved her fearlessness.

She's unique, the most special one to me.

Nathalia sighed and continued, "Mr. Davidson, apart from money, what do you have? You don't have love like Spencer, and I have, you don't have love from your family, you don't have love from friends. All you have is money, money to buy entertainment, fame, something to fill the emptiness inside, temporarily. I AM sorry for you."

She said loudly and clearly. Every word traveled through Kurt's ears down into his heart. It might sound ridiculous to others, but Kurt knew it was true.

He was born into a rich family of power. He never had a trust, real trust in others. He didn't believe in love or friendship.

He couldn't help thinking that people who wanted to get close to him had a purpose. They wanted something from him. And he had met too many people like that.

However, there was one person that he remembered. She's so kind and innocent, an angel, but…

He stopped himself from recalling the old and buried memories. Angrily, he glared at Nathalia, "Nathalia Carter, you, you, you are …" He couldn't find the right words. He saw someone, the angel, in Nathalia's bright and clear eyes. They have the same eyes. She's innocent. I can't threaten her.

He then turned to Spencer instead, "Spencer, if you insist on marrying her, you won't be the heir of Davidsons."

Spencer remained calm and unaffected. "I'm afraid it's not up to you to decide. By the way, dad, it IS getting late. You are going to miss your date and fun night."

What have I done to have a son like that! Kurt thought angrily. There were two complaints Kurt had in his life, and Spencer was one of them.

Spencer always went against Kurt's will, but he was the favorite of his grandfather, Kurt's father, and his grandfather had decided that Spencer was the heir.

It seemed that Kurt could never win as his son seemed to have no weaknesses. Spencer had learned very well from his father, too well.

To Kurt, nothing but his own benefits mattered. He took a few deep breaths to calm down the flaming anger inside him. Then he asked sternly, "Nathalia Carter, are you sure that you want to be Spencer's wife, Mrs. Davidson?"
