106 Chapter 106: It Has To

Richard looked rather annoyed, "It's for Mr. Carter. I suggest you deal with it ASAP. When you borrow something from others, you are supposed to return it. We don't want you to make the company a joke again. Our reputation is bad enough, thanks to you."

Ann picked up the letter. As she was reading it, her face grew to a twisted evil expression. "This selfish girl! Her dad is still in a coma. She's never visited or helped, and now, she's asked her lawyer to send me this asking for the shares! Selfish."

What the hell is she thinking? Little shit. Is she crazy? With all these rumors going on, she still dared to send me a lawyer's letter. Doesn't she care what and how others are talking about her? Is she not worried at all?

Richard sneered. "Isn't it normal? Mr. Carter agreed to return them, so just give them back to Miss Nathalia Carter." You have been avoiding to return the shares, and you are calling her selfish? Ha. Unbelievable. I'm not going to get the shares myself anyway, but why not help the girl and build a good relationship with her.

Nicolas was thinking the same, "Exactly. The shares are Miss Nathalia Carter's, anyway. Why won't you return them? Are you trying to steal them from her?" Nathalia Carter has got Spencer Davidson's support. The shares will have to be returned to her eventually. Why are they prolonging it? To make a fool out of themselves again?

Ann couldn't help wondering why both Nicolas and Richard were speaking for Nathalia. Have they signed an agreement or something?

"She's crossed the line. Her behavior is unacceptable! I was thinking of returning the shares, but now that she's sent me a lawyer's letter, I changed my mind. If she wants to sue me, let her and I will see her in court."

The shareholders shook their heads in disapproval. Thieves. It's obvious that you have planned not to return the shares—what a lame excuse.

Richard thought about it and decided to leave it, but gave them a warning message, "You'd better solve your family issues and not have them affect the company, or we will have to interfere." Nicolas had agreed with Richard on their opinions about what to do with Carter. He added, "One more thing, if Mr. Carter does not wake up by the end of this month, then we shall have a new president, and that's what the next meeting will be about."

"Now that Mrs. Carter is interested, we will trust you to take care of the issues, but if there's any loss, you will take full responsibility."

Ann listened and tried hard to compose herself. All are cunning assholes. However, she had no choice but to agree. If she did not agree to deal with the Seafront Land problem now, someone else would take control and even take over the company.

Just as Nicolas was about to leave, Ann thought of something and stopped him, "Nicolas? Can I talk to you for a minute please?"

Nicolas was surprised, but he agreed while thinking, a bit triumphantly, you are too arrogant to even care to take a look at me. Huh. Now, what do you want?

"What's the matter?" He asked.

Ann poured a cup of coffee and handed it to Nicolas. She gave him a flirtatious look and smiled, "How come Nathalia is not here today? Did you not inform her of the meeting? Or has she arranged this?"

Though Nicolas had seen and experienced a lot, he couldn't resist the look on Ann's face, and unconsciously, he touched and stroked her hand, thinking, lovely, smooth skin. Frank Carter's a lucky bastard. However, when he heard the name 'Nathalia,' he sobered up.

"No. You are overthinking. She's just a little girl. We do business. To make money, to gain profit is what we want.

Who would get involved when there was no profit to gain? Ann smiled thoughtfully, withdrew her hand from Nicolas', pushed the coffee a bit closer to him, and looked at him flirtatiously. "You know, Frank and I will treat you well. Can you please do me a small favor? If the cheeky girl contacts you, can you let me know? Please?" In a coquettish tone, she said.

The flirtatious "please" echoed in Nicola's head. "Sure. No problem." He said, nodding his head, fantasizing about Ann.

As soon as Nicolas left, Ann started smashing every item she could reach at the table, screaming in silence so as not to be heard.

Evette was standing by the door quietly, scared of uttering a sound or going close to Ann. After a good few minutes, Ann collapsed into the seat, panting from exhaustion. Her hair was a mess. A crazy woman she looked like. "Huh. Useless shits! Assholes!" She cursed one last time.

It looked like a storm had just swept through the room. Evette noticed it had gradually quietened down, and timidly she walked in and said gently, "Mum. You ok? Please calm down. When dad wakes up, we will get revenge. Don't worry."

"Of course, we will! We will take revenge on every one of them, especially that bitch!" Ann spat out the words in a scream.

Just then, the phone rang. Ann picked up the phone, saw the number, puzzled, but she answered. It was a short conversation, after which, her anger seemed to disappear, and she sneered.

Evette sat listening. She seemed to be pleased about the conversation, yet at the same time, a bit worried. "Mum, will it work?"

"It HAS TO." Ann barked as she tore the letter to pieces.

It was the first day of university life. Nathalia drove a second-hand German car to Queenland. She had sold her fancy sports car for cash.

The campus was busy with groups of freshmen and senior students. The day was hot. Nathalia parked her car outside the campus, grabbed her bag, and stepped out of the car with a refreshing look. She had her hair up in a ponytail, dressed in a white T-shirt and light blue jeans. They were samples from The Trend. Simple, elegant, and lively.

Her sweet appearance had attracted a few senior male students, and they were all offering to show her around the campus. Nathalia glanced at them and smiled a bright smile. This is the right place to be—normal, nice people.

Nathalia went with a cheerful guy with blue eyes named Carlos Macky, who had got a good sense of humor. He tried to get Nathalia's name, but Nathalia only told him her family name. When they got to the registration office. Carlos waited for Nathalia to register, trying to make more conversation.

"What's your name again?" the teacher asked without lifting her head up.

"Nathalia Carter."

Aha. Nathalia. What a pretty name! And she's got a sweet voice. Carlos thought delightfully.

On hearing the name, the teacher suddenly looked up, surprised. She looked Nathalia up and down. No make-up. Simple attire. Nothing expensive or fancy. No jewelry. How can she be Nathalia Carter?!

"Nathalia Carter? You are Nathalia Carter?" The teacher asked.

"I am," Nathalia replied calmly, though a bit took aback, wondering why.

The teacher knitted her brows and said, "Wait here for a moment. I just need to make a quick phone call."
