109 Chapter 109: How Did This Happen?

He reacted quickly and laughed out loud, in a gentle voice, he said, "Nathalia Carter, it looks like these pictures and files I've got are fake. I must have misunderstood you. I apologize." He then bent down to pick up the photos and tore them to pieces, looking sorry and worried. "It's a great honor to have you in Queenland. You are smart and intelligent, and surely you will be an exceptional Queenlander. Queenland welcomes you."

The sudden change in his attitude was astonishingly confusing to everyone. The crowd looked at each other in disbelief. Joanna stared at Mr. Morgan and said, "Mr. Morgan, what do you mean?"

Mr. Morgan had no time or patience for any questions. He was too nervous to think about anything else but how to keep his secret safe. "Nathalia Carter, don't you worry. As the president of Queenland, I shall stop the nonsensical rumors about you."

Joanna was furious. How did this happen? She was about to be kicked out! No, I don't allow it!

"Don't be ridiculous! This is a joke. How can you just change the decision like that?" She bellowed.

Mr. Morgan yelled back, anxiously, "Shut up. I am the president here!"

"But..." Joanna was taken aback, scared to annoy the well-respected president, but at the same time, she wasn't ready to just give in, so she muttered, "but if we have a student like her, it will just bring embarrassment and shame to Queenland..."

Nathalia watched Joanna, listened, blinked her eyes in disbelief, let out a short and gentle sigh and said, "Well, I thought Queenland was quite a nice university, but listening to a graduate speaking like this, incapable of telling the truth from lies, I don't think I want to study here. I shall perhaps choose Royal University instead."

She turned around to leave as she picked up her phone and dialed a number. "Is that Mr. Brown, president of Royal University? Yes, it's Nathalia Carter. I'm just wondering if you still agree to the suggestion yesterday as I'm..."

Mr. Morgan was trembling in fear. He quickly ran after Nathalia and stopped her. "Nathalia Carter. Please just take a few minutes to think about it. How can you compromise yourself to Royal? We have the best teachers and professors. We are the Top 1 university in the country, and a lot of the well-known politicians, business tycoons, important, successful people in various fields are graduates of Queenland. You have great potential, and Queenland is perfect for you..."

If Nathalia left Queenland, his photos would be seen everywhere, and his secrets would be talked about by everyone. Mr. Morgan had now realized how tough Nathalia was.

Nathalia pouted her lips slightly, pointed at Joanna, and said with anger, "But it seems like somehow she hates me. See the way she glares at me? As if she wants to destroy me..."

Mr. Morgan threw an impatient and annoyed look at Joanna, then said to Nathalia assuredly, "She's just a graduate of Queenland, an average one. Nathalia Carter, I, the president of Queenland, assure you that there's nothing you need to worry about. No one should doubt you, be it your capability or your personality."

Joanna was furiously frustrated. Though she was average at her study, she was exceptional at socializing, and with her socializing skills and pretty face, she had been doing very well and was about to be a host at a TV station. But now that the president had made such a comment, her job might not be secured anymore.

Nathalia gave it a thought, hesitated a bit, and said, "But, what about the teachers? How will they think of me?" Mr. Morgan replied instantly and confidently, "All teachers and professors in Queenland are sensible, and I will let them know it is just a misunderstanding. I'm sure they will happily welcome you. They know to respect my opinion and decision."

Nathalia looked like she was still uncertain. After a while, she said, "Alright, then. I will see how the first year goes. If I don't like it, then I can change to another university. I have offers from a few universities in Europe as well, but at the moment, I'm not interested in going abroad yet. Who knows, I might change my mind."

Mr. Morgan let out a long sigh, relieved. "I'm so glad that you've chosen Queenland. I'm sure you will be the pride of Queenland one day."

Nathalia smiled brightly and said, "Thank you." Mr. Morgan felt like he had just been through a trip in hell.

With Mr. Morgan's assistance, Nathalia registered as a freshman and waved goodbye without saying a word. People watched in silence and shock as if they had lost their tongue and could not speak a word.

The teacher who was in charge of the registration, was extremely impressed by Nathalia. What a girl!

Joanna ran after Nathalia helplessly and furiously. She caught up with Nathalia just before Nathalia got into her car. "Nathalia Carter, what did you do? How did you make Mr. Morgan change his mind? Did you threaten him?" She couldn't think of another reason apart from a threat.

"You really want to know, don't you?" Nathalia lifted her eyebrows and smiled. "Well, I'm not going to tell you, but you can ask Mr. Morgan himself. I doubt he will like the question, though."

Joanna could sense that it was something of great importance to Mr. Morgan, and there was no way that he would tell her. She glared at Nathalia and threatened, "I will find out."

Nathalia opened the car door, shrugged her shoulders, and said, "Whatever. If you do find out, it has nothing to do with me anyway."

Joanna was taken aback, uncertain of what Nathalia meant. Bang. The car door shut, and Nathalia drove away. Another drama calmed.

Mr. Morgan had just sat himself down in his office when someone knocked at the door. She stormed in and yelled at Mr. Morgan, "What did you promise me?! How could you accept her?!" The plan's ruined again! She thought furiously.

"Let's see. We will let her in Queenland now, but we will think of another plan." Mr. Morgan said feebly, sunk into his chair, exhausted.

She calmed down and gave it a good think before she said, "Alright. It's probably better to keep her in Queenland now so we can watch her. By the way, what is it that she showed you?" She wondered. What did she do that changed his mind? I can't think of anything possible.

Mr. Morgan sat up instantly, his face anxious and stern. "The same thing you showed me before. How come? How did she get it?"

"What?! Impossible!" She exclaimed, stunned.
