138 Chapter 138: Now Fate Had Finally Changed

They went up to the top floor. Spencer opened the door. It was a luxury and lovely apartment with a big bedroom, a spacious living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a study. Simple and elegant décor. Just like Nathalia.

The bedroom was spot on, perfectly furnished, and delicately decorated.

"What's this? Your new house?" Nathalia asked. She loved the place, though she was a bit confused about why it was a bit too feminine.

Spencer took out a bunch of keys from his pocket, "It's yours. From now on, you will live here. It's close to Queenland, and it's safe. What do you think? Do you like it?"

Nathalia ignored the keys, frowned, and said, "Spencer, what is it this time?"

She didn't have a house or any assets under her name. Though she had the money, she didn't think it was necessary.

Frank knitted his brows and felt helpless. "It's a present. It's under your name." If it was other women, they would be screaming for joy. However, Nathalia felt the opposite. She refused instantly, "No. I've already had a lot of help from you..." The 5% of shares were of great help, and she was planning to return them to him once she had a more clear vision of her future.

"You despise me," Spencer said suddenly. There was a sad tone in his voice.

What? Nathalia thought, surprised. Is he pretending to be pitiful? She knew what he was thinking, yet she couldn't help compromising when she saw his sad face. She softened her tone and said, "How can I despise you? You are Spencer Davison, with fame and fortune."

Spencer suddenly hugged her tight and said, "All I have is money and money. You must despise me."

Nathalia was speechless. She patted him on his back gently and said, "Hey, when have I ever despised you? It's great to have money."

It put a smile on Spencer's face, and delightfully, he put the key into her hand as he said, "Great. Here, take it. Tell me you like it, please. I've really put my heart in it. I picked everything in the apartment. What do you think? Now you don't need to go back to your old place."

Now Nathalia realized what it was about, and she replied, "You are such a jealous person." It was because of Matt.

Matt was a gentleman. He had helped her a lot, and he never asked for anything back. Why did he jealous at all? It is so unnecessary.

Matt blushed, and he defended himself by saying, "Well, you know I don't like you being so close to that guy. I will get jealous." He didn't even intend to hide anything. If he pretended, she could pretend that she didn't understand, but now that he was so open about it, Nathalia wasn't sure how to react. A sense of sweetness arose in her heart. "You are thinking too much." She said.

"What is it?" She was more than willing to help, to return all the favors he had done for her.

Spencer hesitated for a bit before he asked, "Come for dinner with my mum and me this Saturday, please."

"Huh?" It was nothing Nathalia was expecting. She froze. "I, I'm afraid..."

Disappointment and helplessness appeared on Spencer's face. He sighed and said, "She doesn't have any friends and lives a very closed life. I want to bring some colors, excitement, the difference to her life. Can you please help me?"

This was just one of the reasons. Spencer would like Nathalia and his mum to spend time together and grow to know each other better. He believed that when his mum realized how good Nathalia was, she would naturally accept Nathalia.

Nathalia frowned, feeling uncertain and confused. "But, but she doesn't like me and I..."

Nathalia knew herself well enough that she wasn't someone that could sweet-talk others to make them like her. It wasn't her.

Spencer smiled and encouraged, "My Nathalia is so sweet and smart. Who doesn't like you? If someone doesn't like you, there must be some misunderstanding or something wrong with them."

So arrogant and so proud. So Spencer. It made Nathalia smile. Alright, I will do it. She thought to herself.

Spencer was in such a good mood now, excited. They ordered some food in, had dinner together with Jazz music on. Time seemed to fly by when they were together. It was almost eleven o'clock.

"It's getting late. You should go home now." Nathalia suggested.

Spencer lay on the sofa, feeling comfy and lazy, with Nathalia in his arms. He wasn't ready to leave at all. "It's still early. I want to stay a bit longer..." He insisted.

I've got a few classes tomorrow and some stuff to deal with at work—too many things to do. Nathalia thought. She poked his waist playfully and demanded, "Get up and go home. Quick."

Though she tried to show anger and authority, he only found her lovely. He pecked an affectionate kiss on her rosy cheek, "Alright, alright, I will leave now."

Who says he can hug me or kiss me or touch me anytime he wants? We are not really a couple. I haven't agreed. So stubborn.

However, she had pretty much given up arguing with him as she had learned that he would not listen anyway, and it would be a waste of time.

She pushed hard and finally got him off the sofa. To her surprise, he walked to the cupboard in the open kitchen, pressed the button on the wall, and the cupboard door slid open to another apartment.

"Hey, Spencer, how can you..." Nathalia exclaimed. Is it his apartment next door? It's connected to this one, and he can come and go whenever he wants! My goodness. This can't be real.

Before Spencer left, he kissed Nathalia's good night. "I will see you in the morrow, babe, sweet dreams."

Nathalia was still shocked by the secret door. She watched him walk into next door, her eyes wide open.

Frank's proposal wasn't going very well, having difficulty collecting funds. The more he got rejected, the more frustrated he got and the angrier he was. In the end, he decided to invest solo. He used all his assets, properties, including his company shares and the house.

He even held a press conference to announce his plan, his solo investment to the European market. He showed his passion and confidence. The whole of Miami was informed.

Nathalia was there as well. Even if she didn't want to be there, Frank would demand his presence so he could show off his pride.

Seeing the overconfident, proud Frank on the stage, Nathalia sneered. He who laughs last laughs best.

Now fate had finally changed. It wasn't going the same path as her previous life anymore. In her previous life, he used the whole company as a bet, and he lost it all. This time, it was his own investment, his own risk, and he would lose all he had. It must be destructive to fall from the top of fame and fortune to nothing.

A mocking voice came from behind Nathalia, "What are you laughing about? You will regret it soon!"
