155 Chapter 155: I Wish I Could Take All Her Pain

Messages bombarded for a good few seconds as soon as he turned on his phone. Seeing that Curt wasn't making a move, Nathalia grew angry again, "What the hell are you still standing here for? Go to the hospital now! She needs you." She yelled impatiently.

To her surprise, Curt simply put the phone away, sat himself down on the sofa, and said casually, "What's the point? I'm not a doctor anyway."

"Ahhhhh," Nathalia shrieked, not being able to take it anymore. She pushed Matt away, grabbed the forks and knives and plates of food, anything she could, and threw at Curt. Asshole! Go to hell!

Again, Curt didn't expect Nathalia would be so angry and failed to duck. He was hit a few times and covered by food. He bounced up angrily, his face red, "Get this crazy girl out of my house!" he yelled.

However, Nathalia was at the peak of anger. She went on throwing anything she could grab from the house. Though Curt was furious, he didn't fight back but simply dodged. This wasn't the usual him. People had to compliment and compromise for him. No one had treated him this way.

It was the first time Matt had ever seen Nathalia so mad. Somehow, he felt a sharp pain in his heart, seeing the way she behaved.

Nathalia was running after Curt, throwing stuff at him, screaming, "Why did you marry her if you don't love her? Why don't you look after her now that she's your wife? Why don't you protect her? You beat her, tortured her, made her lose her mind, and now you are just enjoying yourself, having a laugh, having mistresses everywhere. Asshole! You, fucking asshole!"

She grew hysterical as she yelled. She was shivering, and she could hardly breathe. Matt quickly grabbed her from behind, holding her waist. "Nathalia, Nathalia, hush, hush...stop. Calm down. It's ok. It's ok." he whispered into her ear.

Curt finally stopped running. He was panting heavily, trying to catch his breath. Nancy came over, tears in her eyes, "Honey, are you alright? Where did this little devil come from? I will get the bodyguard to take her to the police."

"Shut up." Curt snapped, took out his napkin, wiped the sweats off his forehead. "I will take care of it. Don't you worry? Leave her to me."

It took Nancy by surprise. Her face went pale, eyes wide open. Who is this girl? Why is Curt treating her differently? He's even indulging her!

True. Curt Davidson never forgave anyone that displeased him. Once a woman, possibly one of his many mistresses, came making a scene in the office and she was thrown down into the sea, gone. Another time, some guy said something wrong to Curt, and the guy was almost beaten to death before being sent to jail.

However, Nathalia had behaved outrageously to Curt, and Curt simply accepted it!

Nathalia looked up at Matt, tears running down her face, and pleaded helplessly, "But she will die. What can I do?"

Matt felt pain, bitterness, jealousy, uncertainty, and a mixture of everything. "Is Spencer's mother so important to you?" He muttered.

Nathalia found it difficult to breathe as if thousands of needles were poking at her heart. "If my mum had someone to help her, she might not have to... die... I couldn't help her. When I think of how she died, I hate myself for it...I wonder if there was someone there for her when she died. I wonder if she was in pain if there was regret if she was scared. Why? Why couldn't I help her? I wish I was there for her...I wish..."

It was true that she wanted to help and save Spencer's mother, yet at the same time, she was reminded of her own mother. She couldn't help thinking if her mother had to go through such anguish, such desperation.

The fact that her mother was tortured and murdered had become a nightmare to her since the day she found out. It was a weight on her heart that she could never take off.

"It's not your fault, Nathalia. I promise she will be ok. She will be ok." Matt felt the pain in her voice in her trembling body. Tears welled up in his eyes.

"She will live? Yes? She will be ok?" Nathalia asked as if his assurance was the only hope she could cling onto. For the first time, she exposed her deepest fear, her truest self, in front of him, yet it brought him so much pain.

"Yes. I promise."

Somehow, deep down in her heart, she believed that if Mrs. Davidson survived, then she could leave the guilt behind.

She's carrying so much, too much. I wish I could take all her pain. Matt thought to himself.

"Father, please..." Matt turned to his father and asked genuinely, but he was shocked to see the pain on his father's face. What happened? He wondered.

Just as the shock was fading and he was to continue his words, he noticed that his father was about to leave. "Father, where are you going?" he asked quickly.

Without turning around, Curt answered, "To the hospital. Take the girl with us." There was sadness in his voice.

On hearing so, Nathalia suddenly cheered up and quickly followed Curt out, while Nancy cried and begged, "Curt, Matt, come back."

On the way to the hospital, Curt remained cold and distant. Matt was puzzled, but he knew it wasn't the time to ask questions. He took a few glances at his father and tried to guess why. Nathalia was lost in her own thoughts and worries and paid no attention to either of them.

As soon as they got to the door, Anna's bodyguard stopped them. Nathalia frowned and felt confused. "Let us in." She demanded.

Mrs. Davidson's bodyguard kept his head down as if he was ashamed to look at Nathalia, while Anna's bodyguard was determined and harsh. He refused, "No. Miss Anna Jones said no one is allowed to go in, except Mr. Spencer Davidson."
