156 Chapter 156: What A Bitch

Curt knitted his brows, dialed a number on his phone, and after a while, Anna opened the door. She looked delightfully surprised and greeted Curt with much enthusiasm, "Mr. Davidson, please come in. Mummy must be very happy to know you are here."

Anna had only met Curt a few times briefly, but surely she would not let go of any chances to please him.

Curt nodded and walked in. Nathalia followed, and Anna extended her arm out to block her, but Nathalia slapped it away, glared at her, pushed her away, and walked into the room.

Mrs. Davidson was lying on the bed, her face pale, her breathing weak. She was in a coma. Curt sat down by the bed, wearing a complicated look on his face. He looked at Mrs. Davidson silently.

No one spoke. Nathalia's heart grew heavier as time went by slowly. Sadness and despair pervaded the room. It was suffocating.

Nathalia couldn't take it anymore and finally stood up and walked out of the room. She stood in the hallway, looking out of the window.

Heavy clouds gathered. It looked like a storm was on its way.

"Cry if you want to. Let it out, and you will feel better afterward." A gentle voice came from behind.

Nathalia lifted her chin up and let out a quiet sigh. She couldn't cry. She kept her sorrow to the night, to herself. "Life is so fragile. We never know when it comes to an end. Things can change so suddenly and quickly."

Watching the delicate figure by the window, who seemed so strong yet fragile at the same time, brave and fearful, sensible and sensitive, Matt felt his aching heart beating with desire, the desire to protect her.

"It's ok to be weak and dependent sometimes..." He continued.

A bitter smile appeared on Nathalia's face. "Dependent? Who am I to be dependent on?" Sorrow filled her voice.

"I will wait for you till however long it takes. I will wait for you to have your trust. You can always depend on me, rely on me. I will protect you. I will..." The words that had been suppressed in his heart rushed out like a waterfall running down the mountain.

Shocked, Nathalia turned around immediately, "Matt, I'm..."

Just then, a toneless voice came from the hallway, "It looks like I'm late."

Matt and Nathalia turned to the voice instantly to see Spencer standing in the dim light. Ungroomed scratches on his forehead, he looked exhausted and hurt.

What happened? That was Nathalia's first thought. She went to him immediately, worried. "Spencer, what's happened? You ok?" She asked anxiously.

Anna came running to Spencer and pushed Nathalia away. She took Spencer by his arm and walked towards the room. "Spencer, finally, you arrived. Mummy will be so happy to know you are here. Come."

Curt looked fatigued. He rubbed his temples and said quietly, "Come and talk to your mother. She needs your support."

The surprised and disdainful look on Spencer's face quickly disappeared. He sat by his mother. "Mum. I'm here..." His voice sounded trembling.

Time seemed to be forgotten. When Spencer walked out of the room, Anna followed him closely.

Nathalia was still standing by the window. She gazed at Spencer quietly. With a heavy heart, Spencer looked at Nathalia and asked emotionally, "How did it happen?"

Nathalia bit her lips slightly and was about to say something, but Anna shouted out quickly, "Spencer, the truth is too cruel to know! Too cruel."

Matt was shocked to see Anna's reaction and wondered what's this girl plotting? She sounds like she's creating some kind of drama here.

Spencer glared at Anna and demanded, "Tell me."

"It's because of her. She pushed mummy and mummy got run over!" Anna accused her with her finger pointing at Nathalia. She was thinking of the promise and swore Nathalia made to her and believed that she could make the most of this opportunity.

Nathalia opened her eyes wide, and her lips twitched in disbelief. What the hell? What a bitch!

"It's impossible!" Spencer retorted instantly.

"I don't believe you." Matt followed.

With tears in her eyes, Anna acted as if she had been wronged. "I'm telling the truth. You can ask everyone around." She said as she winked at the bodyguards and the nurse.

Anna's bodyguard spoke first, "Yes, it's true. Mrs. Davidson and Miss Nathalia Carter were arguing because Miss Anna Jones showed up. Maybe Miss Nathalia Carter didn't mean to push Mrs. Davidson, but she did and who would have thought this would happen."

"Yes. That's what happened. Mrs. Davidson was bleeding so much. It was frightening." The others supported.

Nathalia looked at these faces, and a bitterly mocking smile appeared on her face. Huh. People. How could they lie so easily? She thought hopelessly.

Well, my own father killed my mother for money, and he wishes me dead. This is nothing. They're scared to take any responsibility, so they agreed to blame it all on me. Of course. Selfish people.

"Nathalia, tell me, is it true?" Spencer questioned. A terrible headache hit him suddenly and intensely.

Instantly, Anna grabbed Spencer's arm and said tearfully, "Spencer, you still don't believe me? Look at her and look at mummy. What she has done to mummy is unforgivable!" At the same time, Anna threw Nathalia a quick warning look to remind her of the promise she was forced to make.

Annoyed, Spencer pushed Anna away. His eyes fixed on Nathalia, like a wounded beast, he demanded, "Tell me!"

Nathalia couldn't bear to look at him. She closed her eyes and said as calmly as she could, "It's up to you to believe me or not. I've done nothing wrong. It..."

Anna cut in immediately, yelling, "Nathalia Carter, mummy argued with you because you didn't like me, which I can understand, and I don't blame you, but how could you push her?! Why did you hurt her?!" Like a madwoman, Anna went on shouting. Spencer felt like his head was going to split, "Anna, stop!" he snapped. "Nathalia, please leave. I need some time alone."

Nathalia looked into Spencer's eyes for a second, turned around, and left, without a word, without hesitation. Matt wanted to say something but changed his mind and ran after Nathalia instead.

"Spencer, please don't be too upset. Mummy will be fine. When she wakes up, she will tell you the truth, and you will know I'm not lying." Anna said confidently, feeling much more relieved now that Nathalia was gone. Suddenly, she felt weak and leaned onto Spencer. Naturally, Spencer caught her by her arms, frowned, and said, "What's the matter?"

Anna's bodyguard replied, "Miss Anna Jones has just donated a lot of blood for Mrs. Davidson to save her. She must be feeling weak now."
