161 Chapter 161: Can She Say Something New?

Nathalia glanced at her phone to check the time. It was quite late. She sneered at Evette and said, "What are you here for? I don't have much time for you."

She understood very well that it was just a waste of time arguing with these people.

Seeing that her own daughter was being insulted, Anne frowned, but she knew she couldn't say much either and swallowed her anger.

"Enough! Stop this." Frank snapped. "Nathalia, this is Ben Johnson." He said as he presented Ben to Nathalia.

The most annoying man. Nathalia thought.

Clad in a smart suit, his hair well-groomed, Ben looked at Nathalia with an affectionate smile, "Nathalia, how have you been?"

"What is he doing here?" Nathalia asked Frank without taking a glance at Ben as if he didn't exist.

"Ben is a very good man. You two should get to know each other. In a month, you will be engaged, and in three months, I will arrange a wedding for you two." Frank said matter-of-factly, thinking that he was the parent, the dictator of the Carter, and no one was allowed to reject.

However, he seemed to have forgotten all that had happened. Nathalia's lips twitched in shock, then she laughed out loud, outraged by what she heard.

"Hahaha. Engagement? Get married? Why should I listen to you? Who are you to arrange everything for me?" He really would do anything for the sake of his own benefit. Wow. Impressive. But has he forgotten what has happened and the fact that we are enemies?

"I am your father. Everything I do is for your own good. Ben graduated from Queenland and is now working at the Davidson Group. He has great potential and a bright future. He will be a wonderful boyfriend and husband to you." Frank said proudly.

Anne joined in with a smile, "Exactly. Your dad has thought about it thoroughly and decided that Ben is the best partner for you."

Nathalia took a deep breath, trying to hold back the anger inside her. "Well, I'm sure he will be a great partner for your beautiful daughter, Evette."

What the hell are these two thinking? Trying to marry me to someone? Have they lost their mind?

Anne didn't seem to be angry, but put on an even brighter smile, "It's the family tradition, you see. The oldest one gets married first, then your younger sister and brother."

"Nathalia, I will love you and take good care of you." Ben voiced himself at the right time, followed by Evette in a mocking tone, "Wow, I'm so jealous of you, Nathalia. Congratulations!"

Evette would have considered taking Ben if her heart was not set on Spencer. Spencer and Ben are just completely two different levels.

If they had not known Spencer, Evette would agree to be with Ben just because she wanted to take everything from Nathalia.

Very soon, the news that Nathalia Carter was getting engaged to Ben Johnson, who worked at the Davidson Group, was all over town. It became one of the most talked about the news. The journalists grew excited; people followed the news eagerly.

Once again, Nathalia's past, current situation, everything about her, was dug and revealed and talked about. Various versions of stories were written, reported, and repeated. Meanwhile, Ben Johnson had also gained fame, the most-discussed celebrity after Nathalia and Spencer.

Spencer remained quiet and made no response to any of it.

Nathalia was just Nathalia, not interested at all as if it had nothing to do with her.

However, Ben was the very opposite, happily accepting any interviews, answering all the questions, and taking the opportunity to announce his love for Nathalia.

He was determined to date Nathalia, trying everything he could.

"Nathalia, I've booked a table for us at Royal Café."

"Nathalia, I've bought you your favorite blueberry pie."

"Nathalia, let's go to Thailand for a holiday."

However hard he tried, Nathalia paid him no attention, finding him and the journalists annoying. She had to hire two bodyguards to keep them away from her.

Even Sophie was annoyed by Ben's shameless persistence. "What's wrong with this guy? He doesn't give up, does he? Doesn't he get the message that he is not welcomed?"

Sophie was actually quite fond of Ben in the beginning, mainly for his good look, but after getting to know him a bit, she found him rather repulsive.

"Money talks. That's why." Nathalia said casually as she walked into the lift. Sophie pressed the button, and the door closed.

"What do you mean?" She asked curiously. Sometimes, she wondered if she and Nathalia were from two different worlds as Nathalia often said things that she found too profound to understand.

Nathalia shrugged her shoulders and said, "It's alright. Don't worry about it. It's just baiting."

Now Sophie was more confused. She closed her eyes to think harder but decided to give up after two seconds. Anyway, what I know is that Nathalia is my best friend, and I trust her. That's all I need to know.

The two girls walked into the office, chatting and laughing. Lisa looked up from her laptop, took off her glasses, rubbed her temples gently, and said, "Here you are. Just give me a minute, and I will be ready. Nathalia, where do you want to go for dinner? My treat."

Nathalia sat herself down on the sofa and replied with a sweet smile, "There are too many annoying people outside. Shall we eat at home tonight? I miss your cooking so much."

Lisa was impressed by and proud of Nathalia's attitude, how little she was affected by the rumors and nonsensical talks. "Sure." She replied with an assuring smile, thinking I love how positive she is. Her family is a disaster, and her relationship with Spencer isn't going well, but she still sees the world in a positive way as if she's not affected by any of the darkness.
