172 Chapter 172: My Beautiful Princess

However, not everyone understood.

Suddenly, Mrs. Davidson had her eyes fixed on Spencer. She waved her hand and beckoned him. "You are my son?"

Spencer leaned forward, kissed her on her cheek, and said, "Yes, mum. I'm your son."

He kept Nathalia's hand in his.

Mrs. Davidson smiled delightfully, "My son is very good-looking. I'm a lucky mother." Her smile was pure like an innocent girl's, and the joy she showed was from her heart.

Spencer was amazed that his mother accepted him straight away. It was probably the power of nature and blood. The bond between a mother and her child could never be severed.

Nathalia smiled happily for them. That's wonderful.

Then Mrs. Davidson's eyes fell on Nathalia's pretty face, pouted her lips, and asked, "And who's this girl? My daughter-in-law? You look very young, though."

"Huh?" Everyone was shocked to hear such a guess and comment.

Enraged, Anna stomped her feet and shook her head, excitedly, "No, no, no. Mummy. She's not. I AM your future daughter-in-law. You used to say what a perfect couple Spencer and I make. And you will see us marry and have your grandchildren."

Anna tried to force a smile on her face, yet she was too angry, and it turned out to be a twisted and weird look. It was rather scary.

"I don't like your face. Your smile looks weird." Mrs. Davidson said honestly.

Anna's heart froze. "Mummy, how can you treat me like this? I'm your favorite girl. We've been mother and daughter for so many years..." Anna grew more and more excited as she spoke, her hands swaying about.

All this effort that she had made in the past years had turned to nothing overnight. She was going mad.

Spencer started to grow worried. He pushed Anna away from Mrs. Davidson and scolded, "Calm yourself down. You are scaring mum."

Mrs. Davidson's face had turned pale, her hand grabbing Spencer's shirt, and she was shaking. However, Anna took no notice. She was only thinking about how unfair it was to her.

"Mummy, please try, try to remember. For sure, you will remember me if you try harder." Anna went on.

"Come, take Miss Anna Jones out," Spencer shouted to the bodyguards outside.

Despite her struggle and screams, Anna was carried out of the room, together with her housemaid. As the crying faded, Mrs. Davidson heaved a sigh of relief, though her hand was still grabbing Spencer's shirt.

"I don't like that girl. She's rude and vicious." She looked at her son and said pleadingly.

"Don't worry. I won't let her come close to you again." Spencer assured her while thinking it's strange that Anna is the girl that she's been spoiling for over ten years, and now she doesn't even like her. Perhaps losing one's memories changes one's perspective?

Spencer was startled and stopped her instantly. "It's ok. Mum. You don't need to remember. It's the past. All you need to know is that you are my favorite person, and I love you."

That put a bright smile on Mrs. Davidson's face. "My best boy." Then she turned to Nathalia and said, "Hey, you, little girl, what's your name?"

It seemed that she had changed to a different person, a happier person. She had left her stubbornness and her sorrow behind.

This was probably her nature, her old self, what she used to be like before the tragedy changed her.

To be honest, I prefer her like this. Nathalia thought.

"I'm Nathalia Carter," Nathalia replied.

Mrs. Davidson looked her up and down rather closely, then asked, "You like my son, don't you?"

"Huh?" Again, Nathalia was shocked. Can she be more direct?

Spencer smiled and watched Nathalia, who was blushing.

Silence.

However, Mrs. Davidson was determined to have an answer. "Don't you?"

"Yes, I do. So what?" Nathalia lifted her chin up like a proud little princess. She said it with confidence and pride, yet she was blushing terribly.

Spencer's heart was racing. He stroked her lovely cheeks gently—my beautiful princess. I'm proud of you.

Mrs. Davidson looked Nathalia up and down again, and after some calculation and pondering, she said, "You seem ok, but still you will need to pass my tests to see if you are qualified to be my daughter-in-law." Though it sounded ridiculous, she wasn't hiding anything. Her face said innocence.

Nathalia's lips twitched, "I didn't think..."

I didn't think about marrying your son. I didn't say I want to be your daughter-in-law.

Before she could voice her thought, Spencer held her hand tight, smiled happily, and said, "Yes. Of course, Mum."

Seeing his delighted look, Nathalia swallowed her words and replied with a smile instead.

When Mrs. Davidson finally fell asleep, Spencer and Nathalia left the room quietly.

"Hey, I'm not planning to marry you." Nathalia finally said, as soon as they left the hospital. They make it seem like I'm begging to be his wife. Huh.

Spencer watched her pouted lips and her wide-open eyes. What a lovely creature! He thought and kissed her between her eyebrows. "But I really, really, want to marry you." He said gently.

She felt his breathing caressing her brows as he kissed her and her body trembled with pleasure. He stroked her cheeks and smiled. Finally, I can be with the girl I love again. Thank you, Universe, for sending her to my life.

Suddenly, a figure rushed forward, swaying an arm at Nathalia. Spencer reacted quickly and pulled Nathalia behind him, grabbed the arm in the air. "Anna! What the hell are you doing?" He glared at Anna.

"Nathalia Carter, what did you do? Why can't mummy remember me?" Anna yelled and pointed at Nathalia, shaking with anger.

What's wrong with her? Nathalia thought.

"You are the one that's been staying with Mrs. Davidson in the room all the time, and I was not allowed to go in. What could I have done? I should ask you the same question."

"Nathalia Carter, you know very well what you have done. One day, mummy will remember everything!" Anna threatened. It was impossible for her to accept the fact that she had lost everything, and the effort she made had brought her nothing in return.

Nathalia glanced at her indifferently, disdainfully and a little mockingly, "I look forward to that day."
