175 Chapter 175: You Did Something

Meanwhile, she found Anna rather annoying recently. She disliked her pretentiousness despite how hard Anna cried and talked to her about the past.

The more Anna stuck around, the more irritating Mrs. Davidson found her to be. Anna was not even allowed to go into the house anymore. She walked about outside the door, angry, frustrated.

Nathalia came out from the lift with a bunch of flowers in her hands. She smiled helplessly when she saw Anna. Here it goes. She thought and wondered what drama was to come this time.

Anna heard the lift, turned around, and yelled furiously, pointing her finger at Nathalia, "Nathalia Carter, it was you. You did something! I want my mummy back!"

The bodyguard sensed that another possible fight was to come and be interrupted immediately. It angered Anna even more. Stupid bodyguard, you don't let me in, and you are now on this bitch's side. She thought furiously.

Nathalia stepped back away from Anna and said with a smile, "You know I've heard that child-like people are the most innocent and sensitive. They know who is genuine and true."

Seeing the smile on Nathalia's face, Anna glared at her and snapped, "What do you mean?"

"I'm speaking the same language as you. Why? You don't understand? Perhaps you should go back to school and do better at your study, instead of following guys around or annoying people."

"How dare you speak to me like that?!" Anger flared up in Anna; she had her arm up, rushed towards Nathalia, about to slap her.

Just then, a familiar voice came from behind, "What are you doing?!" Anna's arm froze in the air for a second. She recognized the voice. It was Spencer. Then quickly, she retreated her arm and turned around with an awkward smile, "Spencer, we were, we were just talking about something exciting."

Spencer walked past her to Nathalia, stroked Nathalia's head gently, and asked, "Babe, you ok?"

He had completely ignored Anna again. It was obvious.

Tears filled Anna's eyes, and she pleaded, "Spencer, why? Why are you so cold to me? Has she put a spell on you? Have you forgotten all the years we spent together, the time we had, and have you thought about what I've done for mummy..."

Anna looked at Spencer with her tearful eyes, like a hurt little creature begging for love.

Spencer handed her a check. Anna stared at it, shocked. "What's this for?" she asked.

A check? One million dollars? For me? Why? She wondered worriedly.

"For the blood, you donated to Mum. Thank you." Spencer answered indifferently. He even sounded mocking.

Anna couldn't believe Spencer's words. "No. You can't do this to me. Spencer, you are out of your mind. I love mummy. You can't separate us with money."

It was a gesture of cutting the bond if there was one. Take the money, and from now on, we are strangers. That was the message.

"Anna Jones, just take it. This is my last offer." Spencer said, his tone implying annoyance. It was the first time he had ever addressed her with her full name.

His words sounded so cold that it made her shiver. She looked at him and saw no emotions on his face. Is this the man I've loved all my life? Though he's usually distant with people, he has always cared about me and looked after me. What has happened? Why has he changed?

Her eyes fell on Nathalia as she cursed, "It's her. It must be her! You are mean and evil." She pointed at Nathalia. "Spencer, you can't trust her. She's been lying to you. I'm the only one that truly loves you. Spencer, I love you. I love you. I love you. Don't treat me like this, please. I've..." She sobbed and pleaded.

However, Spencer only found her annoying. He knitted his brows and said, "Please leave now."

Anna couldn't comprehend it. She blamed Nathalia for everything. "Nathalia Carter, bitch. It's you. You did this to me. I will never forgive you! I hate you..." She screamed and sobbed, trembling.

Nathalia watched quietly and thought, who are you to scream at me like this? Who do you think you are? It's karma. You know what you've done.

Spencer didn't like what he heard at all. He shouted back at Anna, "Enough! You said you love my mother and see her as your own mother, then why don't you tell me why she was in a coma? And what did you do when she was almost dying? You love nothing but a fake."

Spencer realized that he had never really known Anna. He wondered if the innocent girl with the sweetest smile in his memory was real. Did she ever exist? If she did, how has she changed to what she is now?

She keeps saying how much she loves my mother, but when my mother needed help the most, she didn't want to offer it, didn't want to take responsibility—such selfishness. Nathalia, however, is the very opposite of her. Nathalia is an angel.

Anna's jaw dropped, hearing Spencer's rebuke. "What do you mean? Spencer, I don't understand." Her voice was trembling.

It's impossible. Impossible! She was screaming inside her while glaring at Nathalia, hoping to find some hint from Nathalia, yet to her disappointment, Nathalia remained indifferent.

Spencer couldn't help finding it funny. How absurd life could be! How pretentious one could be!

How many people are there can I really trust? He wondered.

"I know what happened, Anna Jones. It was your fault, and you were supposed to pay for it, but considering that you donated blood to my mother and you used to be good to her, I will leave it be. Take the check and from now on, leave my mother and me alone. We don't want to see you again."
