177 Chapter 177: Rejecting Great Opportunity

She had seen the nastiness and darkness in people, yet her heart remained pure and her faith in love survived. She still believed in justice in integrity. Though she had taken the path of revenge, she had kept her heart untainted. She hoped that on the day she died, she could tell herself that she owed nobody anything, and she had lived righteously.

Her words caressed his heart like a summer breeze. He gazed at her smile and felt his sadness and weariness fade away, replaced by a sense of peace and tranquility. "And you are my light." He said with a content smile.

Lisa handed Nathalia a bill and asked, a confused frown on her face, "Nathalia, what's this?"

Nathalia took it, had a look, and her lips twitched in disdain. Seriously? He's actually sent the bill. Curt Davidson. I just don't understand him.

"Yeah. It's alright. Transfer him the money and put it on my account, please." Nathalia replied casually.

Lisa looked worried, "Is he still bothering you?"

"Oh. No. Not at all. He has more than enough women. He can't bear my indifference. Haha." Nathalia replied causally to assure Lisa while wondering why was he at the cemetery? I can't understand. The question kept coming up in her head.

"Such a nuisance he is." Lisa concluded and changed the topic, "By the way, Frank Carter is still in hospital..."

Just then, the phone rang. Lisa answered, and it was the secretary, "Mr. Richard Smith and Nicolas Ford want to see Miss Nathalia Carter."

Lisa looked at Nathalia, and Nathalia nodded.

The secretary ushered Richard and Nicolas to the office. "Please come in." They walked in to see Nathalia seated by the desk, dressed in a white blouse and a black skirt, smart and elegant. Casually professional.

Nathalia stood up with a smile, extended her hand out, "Mr. Smith and Mr. Ford, how are you?"

Richard glanced around the office. It wasn't big but looked rather spacious. The décor was simple and efficient. Nicolas observed Nathalia for a good few seconds and admitted to himself that she was indeed an excellent girl. She's good-looking, elegant, and confident.

Unlike most of her peers, though young, she was calm and wise. Her mannerism showed her confidence and self-esteem. She was meant to be the brightest star in the business field, the most promising and possibly the most successful one in the future.

"Nathalia, the company is not doing well at all. We would love to have you back and take over the company, or it's going to come to an end."

It would be a tragedy to be her opponent, a fortune to be her friend, and they felt lucky that they did not choose to be her enemy from the very beginning.

Nathalia asked the secretary to bring coffee, then replied to Richard and Nicolas with a confident smile, "It's an honor to have your trust. I've been worried about the company as well, but I'm not a talent in business nor management. I'm afraid I can't manage the company despite how much I'd love to help."

As usual, she stated her position and opinion humbly and clearly.

Richard and Nicolas got the message and could see that Nathalia had her mindset. The two looked at each other, both confused. Richard grew worried and persuaded, "Nathalia, it's ok even if you really don't understand much about management now. As long as you are there at the company, it will give a boost to staff morale and regain the trust of the stock market."

Surveys had shown that Nathalia had the preference and trust from the public while the Carter family had lost their reputation and were now even despised by the public. It wasn't a surprising result, and all the shareholders expected it.

Nicolas jumped in to help, "Exactly. Nathalia, you are the only one that can save the company now. Everyone's expecting you. Please."

Nathalia smiled thoughtfully but didn't say another word. Richard and Nicolas looked at each other with a puzzled look, hoping to find some explanation from each other, but only to be more confused. If she wants revenge, isn't it the best time to do it now? Why is she rejecting such a great opportunity? What is she thinking? I just don't understand the young generation now.

"Nathalia, this is very serious. I know that you and your father don't get along well, but can you please put aside your personal grudge now and think of the company first? Please?"

"You do understand that the company is not just about the Carters. There are other shareholders to consider."

Seeing that Nathalia wasn't giving a response, the two became more and more anxious and started to sound threatening. It was rather understandable as they had been watching their asset drop every day, and it was driving them mad.

"Why don't you two take over the company and save it then, instead of putting all this responsibility on my Nathalia?" A voice interrupted. It sounded cold and harsh.

Nicolas was still thinking about his loss, and subconsciously, he replied to the voice, "If we were capable, we would not have come to ask Miss Nathalia Carter. Please, Nathalia, say something. Do something."

Richard was more aware. He exclaimed as he turned around to see Spencer, "Mr. Spencer Davidson, what brought you here?"

Spencer looked at him with a stern face, placed a bag on the tea table, and said to Nathalia gently, "Babe, come. It's tea time." Nathalia stood up with a smile, "Did you sneak out of your office again?"

Spencer had been frequenting Nathalia's office delivering food, drinks, and affection a few times a day. He pecked a kiss on Nathalia's rosy cheek, completely ignoring Richard and Nicolas, and said, "Well, I'm the boss. Here, I've got you your favorite blueberry cake and iced lemon tea. Also, chocolate cake for Mrs. Watson. By the way, where's she?"

Richard and Nicolas stared at the young couple, both shocked. It took Richard a little while to acknowledge the situation, "Are you two, well, you two back together?"
