191 Chapter 191: I Have My Girl With Me

When Mrs. Davidson went to her room, Spencer asked Nathalia quietly about what happened. He looked somewhat worried after Nathalia depicted the story.

Spencer thought it over and went to his mother's room. Mrs. Davidson was watching a comedy show, laughing happily. Spencer hesitated, then knocked at the door. Mrs. Davidson looked up with an innocent look on her face. "Yes?"

"Mum. It might sound a bit random, but I thought you had been here for quite a long time. I wonder if you have thought about going back to Europe."

That was where Davidson's house was, their base.

Nathalia stood by the door, pouting her lips, unsure how to think of it.

"No. I haven't. I like it here. I have you and this cheeky girl here." Mrs. Davidson answered casually and stared back at the screen.

"But someone should live there. I mean, not just anyone. As the owner...you know what I mean," Spencer said a bit awkwardly. If she stays here, it's likely that she will bump into that woman again. Spencer was worried. He just wanted to protect his mother from any possible harm. She has just been through so much and forgotten the sad past. I don't want her to remember.

That woman has managed to stay with my father for over twenty years and has had his son. She must have her tactics and is nothing like how she appears to be. Mum is too innocent, even naïve, compared to her. I don't want mum to get hurt again.

Mrs. Davidson sensed that Spencer probably had something in mind. She paused the show, looked at Spencer, and said, "I lived there for years, but I never really had any friends there. Also, there isn't anything I need to take care of there. Why do you want me to leave? You don't like me staying here with you?" She lifted her eyebrows in a doubtful look as she asked him cheekily.

Spencer blushed and quickly answered, "Of course not. I'm more than happy to have you here..." Well, it is a bit inconvenient when I want some private time with Nathalia. Spencer thought secretly. But at the same time, I love mum's company. We are a family. It feels good to be home with the family. And! When Nathalia and I have children in the future, it will be even better. He couldn't help smiling while thinking.

Mrs. Davidson nodded with a smile, "so I'm staying then. Didn't you say you have work to do? Go on then."

"I just wanted to talk to you..." Spencer was still worried. She seems fine, but is she really?

"Get your work done first. I want to watch the show." Mrs. Davidson grinned and added, "Well, Nathalia can stay with me if she likes." She beckoned Nathalia.

Spencer looked at Nathalia helplessly and was returned with an assuring smile, which made him feel better. I'm so grateful I have my girl here with me.

How she behaved at the shop was a bit strange. It looked like she remembered something. But now she looks so calm. I'm really not sure.

Mrs. Davidson took her eyes off the screen and turned to look at Nathalia, a bit surprised by her question. "Yeah. A bit. Just some blurry visions."

On hearing so, Nathalia almost exclaimed. She did remember! "So, you, you remember Spencer's father?" she progressed cautiously.

To her surprise, Mrs. Davidson simply shrugged her shoulders and answered casually, "He's like a familiar stranger. I don't have feelings for him."

She could recall some scenes from the past but seeing them in her head was like watching a broken film of someone else as if it had nothing to do with herself. It looked real, but it didn't feel real. The man that abandoned her had become someone of no importance to her.

"Shall I take you to do a check-up at the hospital?" Nathalia asked anxiously.

Mrs. Davidson was touched by Nathalia's sincere worries, which she dismissed instantly, saying, "There's no need. It's good as it is. I'm not so bothered about men nowadays anyway. By the way, so you and Spencer are getting married?"

"Huh?" Nathalia blushed. "Did he say so? What do you think?"

"It doesn't matter what I think. Even if I disagree, it won't change anything. My boy can't even take his eyes off you. You are everything to him." Mrs. Davidson answered, sounding a bit bitter and jealous. Then she saw Nathalia's face, looking hurt, and quickly changed her tone, "I mean it's totally up to you two. And I'd love to have grandchildren." She grinned cheekily.

I do like her. Honest and real. Very trustworthy. She even helped me at the shop just then. The most important thing is that my son loves her. Mrs. Davidson thought to herself.

Nathalia blushed shyly. She felt relieved and even loved. Despite her independence and stubbornness, deep down, she had always wanted love, especially love from family. She had been hoping to be accepted by and have the blessing from Spencer's family.

Suddenly, Mrs. Davidson seemed to remember something important as she stood up and rummaged through the drawers and the wardrobe. Nathalia watched curiously, "What are you looking for? Can I help?"

Mrs. Davidson took out an exquisite box from a hidden drawer in the wardrobe, opened it, and her face lit up. "Here it is."

"This is for you." She handed Nathalia an emerald bracelet with a bright smile. It was beautiful. Nathalia loved it. Mrs. Davidson put it on Nathalia's wrist, and it fitted perfectly. "This is our heirloom. I got it from my mother-in-law, and now it's yours."

Overwhelmed and startled, Nathalia subconsciously took it off and said, "It must be very precious. I can't take it." An heirloom!

Mrs. Davidson rolled her eyes, disappointedly, "Why? Don't you like it?"

Nathalia felt the pressure of its preciousness. "It's beautiful, but it's too precious. I'm worried that I might lose it." She said nervously.

It was the first time Mrs. Davidson had seen Nathalia being nervous, and she couldn't help laughing, "Hahaha, silly girl. I insist. Now you can never take it off again." She put it back on Nathalia's wrist and commanded cheerfully.

Nathalia gazed at the bracelet, caressing it, feeling its weight around her wrist. It was a feeling of warmth and love. How beautiful!

"You won't take it back, will you?" She asked tentatively.

Mrs. Davidson tapped Nathalia's cheeks and said, "I'm a very generous person. I gave it to you, and it's yours now. Well, as long as you are good to my son."

"I've always been good to Spencer." Nathalia defended matter-of-factly.

"I've seen what you are like when you are crossed. A tough one you can be." Mrs. Davidson winked at Nathalia.

When has she seen me angry? Nathalia pouted. "Well, I treat people the way they treat me. If they are not nice to me, I don't need to be nice to them. Nothing wrong with that."

"Yes. Yes. I agree with you, but with men, you need to be gentle. You don't want to scare them away." Mrs. Davidson said, compromisingly. She then remembered something and changed the subject, "By the way, do you know that guy well?"

"Which guy?" Nathalia was puzzled. Did she just change the subject again? Her head must be everywhere. I can't even keep up.

Mrs. Davidson put on an angry face. "That bitch's son."

"Huh?" It took Nathalia a few seconds to realize who Mrs. Davidson meant. "Matt? He's a friend."

"A friend? What kind of friend?" Mrs. Davidson asked doubtfully and gave Nathalia a warning look, "If you cheat on Spencer..."

"Cheat on me?" Spencer repeated. He had just got back. Both Nathalia and Mrs. Davidson gasped, shocked by the unexpected voice of Spencer. Instantly and synchronously, they both shook their heads and stuttered, "We were just joking." "Yes. Just saying silly things." They exchanged a look of support.

"Why don't you two hang out at Nathalia's? I want to watch this show." Mrs. Davidson found an excuse and shooed them out of her room.

Spencer wanted to ask for an explanation, but Nathalia grabbed his arm and took him to her place. When Spencer noticed the bracelet, he was rather surprised. He looked at it closely and asked, "Did Mum give it to you?"
