225 Chapter 225: It’s All So Twisted

"Everyone has their own opinions, so do I. I don't think he wants to see me now. I'm probably the last person he wants to see now." Nathalia said briefly. And Spencer. He won't want to see Spencer, either. However, Nancy's death isn't our fault. She asked for it herself. Matt saw how it happened, and if he hates us, it's understandable. Even if he doesn't hate us, our relationship won't be normal again.

Why does Nathalia sound so serious? What happened? Sophie wondered. "Nathalia, can you tell me what actually happened?" Matt was the one he loved, and Nathalia was her best friend, the two most important people in her life apart from her mother. She was worried.

Recalling the incident on that night was like a heavyweight on Nathalia's heart. She heaved a heavy sigh and said, "Sophie, it does you no good to know. Really, please just drop it, forget about it..." What's happened has happened. We can't change the past.

Nathalia didn't want Sophie to get involved in the dark side. It's dirty. It's sickening. Sophie is innocent.

Sophie couldn't understand. She kept asking, yet no clear answers were given. "How can you be so heartless? He's our friend. This is when he needs friends." She said, a bit angrily.

Sophie always thought that Nathalia was very important to Matt and very special. He will listen to her. She just needs to see him and talk to him, and he will feel better.

Nathalia didn't know how to persuade Sophie anymore. Her mind was troubled, her heart heavy. "What he needs now is some quiet time."

She had once told Sophie not to grow too attached to Matt, but she didn't listen, or she couldn't. When feelings came knocking at the door, one could not just keep them out. However, with the Davidson family, it was just too complicated.

Sophie grew angry and glared at Nathalia. "Nathalia, I'm so disappointed with you." She said and stormed out.

Nathalia felt helpless. She remained in her seat, one hand on her forehead, defeated. I'm sorry, Sophie.

Spencer had been sitting by another table nearby. He saw Sophie leave in anger and came over. Gently, he hugged Nathalia and comforted, "It's ok, babe. You've done what you could." We can't be perfect and help everyone. We've done what we could.

Nathalia put her hand on her chest. "I feel suffocated. You know. I can't tell her."

Matt is Curt's son, Spencer's half-brother, and Matt's mother wanted Spencer and me dead so they could inherit the family property. I can't tell her that. It's all so twisted.

Spencer had no regrets about what happened that night. If Matt hated him, he didn't care.

It was dusk when they got back to their apartment garden. The sun was setting, and there was a soothing breeze. Nathalia had been staying home for a few days, and she wanted some fresh air. So she asked the driver to let them get off at the gate.

The couple walked around the garden, holding hands, enjoying the breeze. Mrs. Davidson just got back from shopping. As soon as she caught sight of them, she asked the driver to stop and lower down the window.

"What are you two doing here? Jump in." she popped her head out of the window and beckoned them.

Spencer was looking radiant, smiling, and chatting with Nathalia. "Mum, it feels really nice. Come for a little walk with us."

Tempted, Mrs. Davidson got out of the car, holding a shopping bag. "Look, here are the ingredients for dinner tonight. I spent some time selecting for you." She grinned at Spencer.

Like a child, she was waiting for praise. Nathalia found her lovable. How can I get angry with someone like her at all? She thought.

Just then, a familiar voice shouted, "Spencer! How are you?! How did you get hurt? Is it still hurting?" A girl came running to Spencer.

It was Anna. Her eyes were red. It seemed like she had been crying. Anna had been locked up at home by her parents, but she managed to escape again.

Nathalia sighed at the sight of her. Here she is again. I was just enjoying some peace then.

Spencer dodged, and the bodyguards stepped forward, blocking Anna from Spencer.

"What are you doing here?" Spencer frowned and asked impatiently. He obviously did not welcome her. However, Anna was oblivious.

"Spencer, I'm so worried about you. Why don't you come with me to Europe? They have the best neurologists. You need a proper and thorough check-up." She said anxiously, trying to get close to him.

Spencer despised her pretentiousness. "Theres no need. Thanks for your concern. Where are you staying? I will get the driver to take you back."

Tears ran down Anna's face instantly. "Why? Spencer, do you really not want to see me? Do you know how much I've been worrying about you? I couldn't sleep..."

She went on telling how much she cared about Spencer as if Nathalia and Mrs. Davidson didn't exist. Nathalia had seen it more than once before, and she was used to it, while Mrs. Davidson stared like she was watching something bizarre, something incomprehensible.

Spencer completely ignored her. He turned to Nathalia and his mother, "Mum, Nathalia, shall we go home?"

He used to treat her like his younger sister, but after what she had done, she was now a stranger to him.

"Sure. I'm ready to make the best lasagna!" Mrs. Davidson replied excitedly and lifted up the shopping bag. There was another smaller bag in her other hand.

"Let me carry it for you." Nathalia extended her hand to help with a smile.

"No..." Mrs. Davidson said immediately, still sulking, then realized that Anna was watching, and she changed her mind, "No...No problem. Thank you." She handed Nathalia the bag. The two were like two good friends again.

Spencer watched them happily, with great content.

However, the scene drove Anna mad. This used to belong to me! She took it away from me! Bitch! "Nathalia Carter, how dare you still stay with Spencer? Mummy, I'm Anna. Please don't be so cold to me. I can't bear it. Even if I've made mistakes, I did it for Spencer's sake. It's because I care about him. I love him."
