233 Chapter 233: Felt Threatened

Everyone watched, amazed. Even the Berry sisters had stopped crying.

Matt frowned his hands in fists hiding in the pockets. He seemed to be holding back something, a certain feeling that was flooding his heart.

Amy watched quietly till a wave of sudden anger gripped her heart. "Mr. Davidson, you have to choose between Nathalia Carter and me!" She said determinedly.

What the hell?! Everyone turned to look at Amy, shocked. Then they all looked at Curt, waiting for his response anxiously.

Even Mrs. Davidson turned to look, eyes wide open.

Curt remained distant. He said casually, "It's not for me to interfere. It's the boys' decisions. It's them that's getting married, not me."

The Berry family was not sure how to think of it. He sounded so aloof and detached.

Amy felt that she had lost face again. Angrily she shouted, "Mr. Davidson, you've seen what Nathalia Carter is like. The way she behaves is outrageous. How can you accept her?" Why is he making it like it has nothing to do with him? What does he mean?

Mrs. Davidson was aghast to hear Amy's comment, thinking, huh! What about yourself, then? You behave like a crazy woman. Frightening. How dare you speak of Nathalia like that!

Mr. Davidson lifted his eyebrows, took a glance at Nathalia, and said, "It matters not if I accept her or not. Who knows where she got her peculiar mannerism from." He seemed to sound a bit gentle when he talked about Nathalia, like a father speaking of a spoiled and badly-behaved child that he was too forgiving to punish.

It was obvious that Curt was aloof to Amy, like a stranger. He showed no affection towards her, and there was even a bit of rejection. On the contrary, he seemed to be much more caring towards Nathalia, even better than how he treated his sons.

Matt couldn't help taking an inspecting look at his father. If I remember correctly, last time, Nathalia was chasing dad around in the house, throwing plates at him, and I was so shocked and worried about what dad would do to Nathalia. But it's been some time, and dad hasn't even mentioned it as if nothing has happened. Why? Why is dad so tolerant of her?

He knows how much his words mean, especially in public. He's protecting Nathalia, obviously. This is really strange. It's not like a dad at all. Could it be because of Spencer? Matt wondered curiously.

The Berry family was displeased with the answer. Does that mean he's chosen, Nathalia Carter? Does he prefer his older son?

Even Nathalia was surprised. What the hell is he plotting this time? I just can never understand him. He's too complicated. One can never guess his next move. Anyway, as long as he doesn't hurt me, it's fine.

Vincent Berry cut her short, "Amy, behave yourself!" Stupid girl. She's making things worse.

As expected, Curt reacted rather sternly, "I would suggest you stay away from our family issue. Even if you marry into the Davidsons, you have no right to comment."

His tone was so forbidding that it made Amy shiver. Vincent realized it was going out of their control. He quickly apologized, "Mr. Davidson, Amy wasn't behaving herself. I apologized. Please don't take it to heart."

Curt replied with a smile as if it was nothing important; however, no one knew what he was really thinking about.

Vincent thought they could only make it up in the future, and the most important thing now was to make sure that his younger daughter could marry the Davidsons.

He turned to Nathalia and said apologetically, "Miss Nathalia Carter, our Amy is spoiled. I apologize for her if she's said anything that hurt you. We owe you a favor and will pay you back in the future..." As the mister of the Berry family, a respected and successful businessman in Miami, it was an insult for him to apologize to Nathalia in public. The Berry family glared at Nathalia with hate.

Nathalia smiled and cut him short, "Well, you don't need to pay me back in the future. You can pay me now with cash." He's much cleverer than his daughters. At least, he knows when to retreat. Yet, he's got it wrong. He thinks I care whether Curt Davidson likes me or not. I don't care at all if he accepts me or not.

Her unusual response shocked everyone. "Huh? Pardon?" Vincent was puzzled, in disbelief. What does she mean?

Amy recalled what happened at the jewelry shop, how she and her sister ended up having to pay ten times the price. Anger flared up. "Nathalia Carter, you are such a money digger!"

Nathalia took no notice of her, but she said to Vincent with a grin, "I'm setting up an education foundation to build a hundred schools, and we still need ten million." She looked at him cheerfully.

It shocked everyone completely, especially the Berry family. This time, Curt failed to hide his smile. She is an odd girl, indeed. Who else would think of such an idea? How can she manage to ask someone for money with such righteousness? Ha. Good on her. It was rather a miracle that she's the daughter of... He recalled the familiar face.

Matt coughed quietly, and his face turned red. He managed not to laugh while Mrs. Davidson's laughter echoed in the room.

Vincent was shaking in anger. If I refuse, I'm going to embarrass myself right in front of everyone if I give her the money, shit! I will also lose face! Huh!

After some time of hesitation and consideration, Vincent decided and replied with a smile, "I see. I will have a check sent to you soon." He swallowed the bitter feelings and managed to make it seem as trivial as possible.
