282 Chapter 282: They Hate Each Other

Nathalia started the charity program since she took over Carter's Company. She understood that money was just money, and it meant nothing unless it was used meaningfully. She didn't need that amount of money anyway while others needed it, and it could bring a huge and positive change to others' life. She found joy in helping others.

Part of the money was from the Berries, she recalled amusedly.

The journalists couldn't help thinking about how wonderful a girl Nathalia was. She was only twenty, yet she understood so much and had so much love in her. She did not crave fame. She did not crave money. She did what she did for the sake of love. She was not afraid of rumors and gossips. She was brave, and she stood up for herself.

The local journalists had seen how she had fought her way through from the day when she was almost beaten to death to where she was now. She had impressed, amazed, and touched a lot of hearts.

And now again, she had surprised them.

"Well. If you let the public know, it's also a way to encourage more people to help, right?" A journalist commented.

Nathalia smiled and said plainly and honestly, "Nah, I didn't want to make it public. There's already too much gossip and judgment. I'd rather be left alone and do what I love to do."

She was pure and strong. Who would ever believe that she was a money seeker? Who would ever think her selfish?

"Mrs. Nathalia Davidson. Do not worry about gossip and judgment. We, the local journalists, trust you."

"Yes!"

"Right!" A group of journalists chorused.

Aunt Emma was as furious as confused. She's definitely a strange one. I can't predict her reaction at all.

Some journalists from other states and countries supported as well, "So do we. We believe in Mrs. Nathalia Davidson."

Does that mean you don't believe me?!, Huh! Aunt Emma thought angrily. Though she was well-known in the fashion scene, she had not won much support from the public.

She managed to compose herself and kept the smile on her face. "Nathalia, I'm afraid you've misunderstood me. I only meant..."

Nathalia cut her short. "I'm sure everyone could tell if I've misunderstood you or not." She was getting impatient with aunt Emma. She thinks I'm just a naïve little girl that would just allow her to take advantage of me. She doesn't know me at all.

Aunt Emma was stunned. She turned to look at Spencer for help, only to see that he remained indifferent and his hand holding Nathalia's the whole time.

"Nathalia, it's only because I'm concerned about you. I would not like you to be..." She tried to sound as calm as she could, despite the immense anger inside her.

It stunned aunt Emma even more, as well as the journalists. Something must have happened between the two sisters before. It looks like they hate each other.

Aunt Emma took a deep breath, heaved a heavy sigh, and said, "Susan, think about Spencer. He's your only son. You can't put him into this."

Nathalia sneered at aunt Emma's words, thinking she talks like she truly cares about Spencer. Huh, She's just using Spencer as an excuse. What a horrible person.

She then understood that it was probably why mum didn't like aunt Emma. Mum and aunt Emma are so different.

Mrs. Davidson glared at her as she retorted, "He is my son, and he supports me. He stands on my side. Have you not learned? I thought you were smart one." She was sharp and stern.

Nathalia took a quick glance at Spencer, who looked calm, but Nathalia noticed the worries in his eyes.

Aunt Emma trembled with anger. "What's happened to you? You've changed. I guess someone has influenced you a lot." She turned to look at Nathalia, implying who that someone was.

Nathalia straightened her back, looking proud and confident. Huh. I'm not afraid of your accusation.

Spencer hugged her tight intentionally. At least I have Nathalia. He thought to himself. With all this mess happening, at least she's here with me.

Mrs. Davidson looked at aunt Emma into her eyes and said sarcastically, "I guess you've always seen me as someone weak and useless, someone to be taken advantage of by you."

The crowd gasped in surprise, wondering what actually happened between the two sisters, why they hated each other so much.

Nathalia was curious too. There must be a long story behind it.

Spencer knitted his brows. It seems to be worse than I thought. Mum couldn't remember much that happened, and that kind of explained why she was distant from aunt Emma, but she now knows clearly what she's doing, and she obviously dislikes aunt Emma a lot. It can't be just some silly argument between siblings like aunt Emma told me.

It took aunt Emma by surprise. She had not expected that her fragile little sister could be so sharp and cold. "What are you talking about? You've misunderstood me..." she looked serious.

"Let's not waste our time. Come, Nathalia." Mrs. Davidson glared at aunt Emma and turned to leave. It was true that Mrs. Davidson had changed. She would no longer retreat and hide when there was a problem. She would now face it and face it with courage and bravery.

Spencer hurried after them, and despite Mrs. Davidson's objection, he drove them to the court.

The lawyers had arrived. One was possibly the best-known lawyer in the States and the other, Sean Rushton, the lawyer that once helped Nathalia.

Spencer stayed in the car and watched them walk towards the gate of the court, followed by a large crowd. He thought for a while, then dialed a number. "Hello. I need you to check on someone. All the information, from birth to now..."

The journalists had been waiting impatiently. As soon as they spotted Mrs. Davidson, they swarmed around her. "Mrs. Davidson, are you sure you won't change your mind?"

"Have you reconsidered it?"

"What's your expectation of the case today?"

Mrs. Davidson remained quiet and walked on to the gate, guarded by a few bodyguards.

The journalists couldn't get a response from her and decided to target Nathalia instead.

"Mrs. Nathalia Davidson, you are accompanying Mrs. Davidson to court. Does that mean you support her decision?"
