288 Chapter 288: Lovely Spencer

One couldn't deny that Curt had his charm. He had fame, fortune, and he had a look. What's more, he had the air of authority and majesty that appeared so natural that it demanded respect and obedience. A lot of innocent hearts would fall for him easily. On the contrary, Jake seemed too gentle and soft. Most women would very likely choose the former.

If I had to choose whom to marry, though, I would definitely choose the latter. He's reliable. Nathalia thought to herself.

"Don't you mind her? She's an odd child, but without a doubt, a lovely one." Mrs. Davidson explained gently, "She throws strange remarks randomly, but she has no bad intentions at all."

Mrs. Davidson herself had grown used to and even fond of Nathalia's randomness.

Jake could tell that Mrs. Davidson was very partial to Nathalia, and he replied with a smile, "Oh, I don't mind at all. I like her a lot. I'm sure she's as lovely as you said. By the way, here's a little present for you all."

His amiable look was like a soothing breeze, and Nathalia had a good feeling about him. "Thank you very much, Jake. You are so nice." Nathalia took the present and opened it to find that it was a box of chocolate muffins.

Spencer took it off Nathalia's hand instantly and gave it back to Jake, "We don't want your present." He said sternly.

Somewhat awkward, Jake stammered, "Oh, I...well, it's a..."

Mrs. Davidson cut in shortly to help, "Spencer, you are being rude. Jake's a very nice person." Then she turned to Jake and explained, "I'm so sorry, Jake. Spencer's in a bad mood somehow..."

"No worries, Sue. I know Spencer's a good guy. I like him a lot." Jake said with a sincere smile.

Seeing how the two interacted, Spencer was furious. He said nothing, took Nathalia's hand, and went straight to his room.

Mrs. Davidson was helpless and confused. What's he upset about?

Nathalia followed Spencer and turned around to gesture to Mrs. Davidson that everything was ok.

As soon as they got into the room and closed the door behind, Nathalia questioned, "Why don't you like Jake?"

Spencer sat on the bed and replied sulkily, "You are a smart one. Can't you tell?" The way he looks at mum is so annoying. He definitely wants to be more than just a friend to mum!

Nathalia crawled into the bed and cuddled Spencer. "Come on, honey. I think Jake is a nice person. He's good looking, and I can tell he really cares about mum..." And he's remained single! He doesn't have the arrogance that most lawyers carry with them. He's humble and amiable.

"Good looking? Do you think he's good looking? Really?" Spencer snapped. Huh, he's just a dirty old man. My mum is still married.

Nathalia burst out giggling. "Hahaha. You are jealous!"

Then his lips moved from her lips to her cheek, then her ear and down to her neck as his hand removed her clothes gently and swiftly...

The bell had just rung, and the last class was over when Spencer called, "Babe, I've still got some work to do and will go out later. I will be home a bit late tonight. Please don't wait for me for dinner."

Spencer would spend most of his free time with Nathalia and his mother, especially after he got married. Only now and then would he go out for a business meal. And Nathalia trusted him.

"I see. I will let mum know. Bye, honey." Nathalia said gently. Spencer felt trusted and grateful.

He looked up at the sign of the hotel, smiled, and walked in confidently. Suite room 2666. He took a look at the room number and rang the bell.

Aunt Emma opened the door. She was surprised to see Spencer. Her eyes sparkled for a second, then she put on a sulky face and said, "What do you want?"

Spencer thought he had been a bit too harsh on the phone last night and was hoping to see aunt Emma off and apologize. To him, aunt Emma was still someone important. He did care about her.

"I've come to see you. What time is your flight?" Spencer said casually with a smile and gave aunt Emma a hug.

"Around midnight, 12.30." Aunt Emma was still a bit upset. "Well, have you told your lovely wife? We don't want to upset her, do we?" She said rather sarcastically. That girl had insulted me in public. The very first time I was insulted like that in my life.

Spencer sat himself down on the armchair, looking around. Two helpers were busy packing for aunt Emma. He said sincerely, "Please, aunt Emma, don't be upset about Nathalia. I've always remembered how you've loved and cared for me. You are always a family for me."

Aunt Emma seemed to be thinking it over, then she heaved a sigh and said, "Alright. Alright. I will forget about it. You are a married man now. You know what's right or wrong. Just take care of yourself and your mother for me." Aunt Emma held Spencer's hand and said caringly.

Spencer heaved a sigh of relief as if a heavy bag had been relieved from his shoulders. "Yes. Aunt Emma. Oh, please let me treat you to dinner tonight as a goodbye meal. What do you feel like?"

Aunt Emma smiled, and after some pondering, she said, "They do quite a nice steak here. Shall we eat in the room?"

"Steak in the room we shall have then!" Spencer grinned. It's easier, anyway. We can save time, and I can get back to Nathalia earlier. He thought to himself.

"Cool. The room service number is by telephone over there. Can you please call them? I'm going to use the bathroom." She replied with a content smile. As she turned around, her smile changed to a victorious sneer.
