397 Chapter 397: She Has Lost Weigh

Nathalia watched nervously.

Curt sat her down and said gently, "Sue, I'm not leaving. Don't worry. This is Nathalia, your daughter-in-law, your favorite person."

Sue glared at Nathalia resentfully and shouted angrily, "I don't have a daughter-in-law. What are you talking about, Curt? We've just got married. Is she your mistress?!" Then she pointed at Nathalia and yelled at her, "Get out! Get out! He's my man! Don't you dare take him away from me!" Her eyes were red, and she looked hysterical.

Nathalia wanted to come close to her but was stopped by Zoe. Zoe shook her head at her helplessly. Mrs. Nathalia Davidson is pregnant and is still quite fragile. God knows what Mrs. Sue Davidson would do when she gets angry.

Curt seemed to have got used to Sue's sudden outbursts. He embraced her and stroked her back gently, speaking softly, "Hush, hush. It's alright. It's alright." He was so gentle and calm that Nathalia was surprised. He's changed. I've never seen dad like this.

Sue had apparently lost weight. She looked at the skinniest ever. "You have promised that you will never betray me. You will not flirt with any other women. You have to keep your promise." Sue pleaded, burying her head in his embrace and her hands clenching his shirt tightly.

"I keep my promise. I do. I will always be with you. Don't worry. I'm here." Curt said affectionately and patiently.

After what had happened, Curt had finally realized how delicate life was and how important his family was to him. He had enjoyed everything he wanted. It was Sue and Spencer that he felt most remorseful about. He wanted to make it up. Spencer would probably never return, and he could never make it up for him anymore. He had only got his wife.

"Honey, you are so sweet." Sue looked up at Curt pitifully, like a hurt little girl. Then she glared at Nathalia and shouted, "Did you hear that?! My husband will never leave me. Now, get out of here! I don't want to see you!" She grew emotional again as she shouted.

Helplessly, Curt waved his hand at Nathalia, suggesting she leave.

Zoe followed Nathalia out. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Nathalia Davidson." She said with tears in her eyes.

Nathalia was still shocked and confused. "What happened, Zoe?"

"Mrs. Sue Davidson fainted again after you all left for the search and rescue. And she's been like this since she woke up. She has sudden outbursts now and then. No one could calm her down except Mr. Curt Davidson. She only remembers the time when she was newly married."

Zoe heaved a sigh, dried her eyes, and said, "We have tried everything. The doctor said it would not help. She only remembers Mr. Curt Davidson."

Nathalia listened and murmured to herself, "Catathymic amnesia." She chose to forget the pain, to throw away the painful memories.

It was a way to escape reality.

"Pardon?" Zoe didn't hear Nathalia and asked.

"It's probably a good thing that she has forgotten the most painful memories, so she can restart life," Nathalia replied in a heavy tone. Many people even want to find a way to forget the past, the pain.

But Nathalia herself couldn't. She wanted to remember Spencer as best as she could. She wanted to tell their child everything about Spencer, to let him/her know how wonderful a person he was and how much he loved them. He wanted their child to be proud of his/her father.

Zoe didn't quite get what Nathalia meant, but she sensed that Nathalia didn't want to pursue the subject, so she dropped it. She couldn't imagine how heartbreaking it must be for the family, especially Nathalia, who was now carrying a baby. Fortunately, Mrs. Nathalia Davidson is strong or the baby...She stopped herself from thinking about it. I wish Mrs. Sue Davidson could be as strong.

"I just don't understand how everything just happened..." Zoe said sadly.

Nathalia closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and answered, "Everything will be fine again. It will." She stroked her wedding ring gently. Her heart ached. How much more do we have to go through to get to the destination called happiness?

"Mr. Matt Davidson." Zoe greeted a bit unwillingly, seeing Matt come over. Zoe was very loyal to Sue, and so it was understandable that she didn't like Matt, but Matt had been taking good care of Sue these days. Sue might not even make it till Curt came back without Matt's help.

Matt nodded at her politely, then looked at Nathalia with concern, "Let me drive you home, Nathalia." She has lost weight. She doesn't look like any usual woman in her pregnancy at all. His heart ached for her.

Though Nathalia had been eating well, she had often been vomiting as well, and she had been having trouble sleeping.

She replied plainly, "No, thanks. The bodyguards will take me home. No worries."

She stumbled a bit as if she would faint at any moment. Two bodyguards walked closely by her sides, ready to offer help.

Matt watched her walk away and heaved a sigh. Then he followed after her despite her rejection. He was truly concerned about Nathalia. Even if she disliked him or despised him, he still cared for and loved her.

Nathalia hardly had her sense of direction but simply followed the bodyguards. Her mind was blank, her heart empty.

"Hey, Nathalia! Nathalia!" Someone shouted after her suddenly. Nathalia replied weakly, "Yes?"

Nate was shocked to see how Nathalia looked. It had been over a month since he last saw her, and she had completely changed.

He remembered how proud, bright, and lively she was, how her eyes would shine with life, but what he saw now was an unhealthily skinny girl, wearing a frown, looking weak and tired.
